Such a beautiful ride. Great job!! I’m working on restoring a 914 and a Beetle right now. I’d be happy if mine looked half as good as yours.
Thank you Sir!
Everything's good. But don't like at all the roof rack(it breaks the beautiful shape of the car) and overload the stability of the car. The other thing es the 2 colour. Those cars look better in a single color. The rest is lovely. Congrats. anyway. Keep us posted. Thanks
Had a ‘74 Super Beetle through high school and most of college…senior year college I got an Audi 4000 and felt like I jumped into the future.
Mate don't worry about all the negative comments, I am a motor mechanic with more than 46 years experience and the car looks pristine, good job. Take care and greetings from australia
Love the beetle ... but what I'm most jealous of is the garage to have such a decent home for it!!! Nice
I miss that house and garage. :-) Super cool. The house was built in 1904 and the garage was built in the 1940's.
I also have a "baby blue" super beetle so trust me when I say your not done yet. I know... I've been driving mine 44 years. What a conversation we could have.
A beetle is never done! 👍❤
How can anyone give you nothing but thumbs up. Nice upgrades. It’s really cool. Father in law would be proud!
I am restoring a 74 SB Convertible. Dashboards are very difficult to find unblemished . Great job on yours!
Beautiful job. I had a 74 same color. I found a 69 Ghia that was heading to the scrap yard to be crushed. My son and I are working on it together! Our goal is to get it running and on the road and enjoy driving 👍✌️. Hope to see you on the road 👍
Since the introduction of 1971 Super Beetle, the rear crescent vents replaced these rear butterfly windows. As a kindergarten kid, I was pissed off that our 1971 Super Beetle new car got fixed rear windows. It's so cool that you got both, in addition to the standard front wing wings. In 2002, I simply collected the 1984 Jetta coupe (the latest hardtop VW with wing wings) & had to modified in order to have these fixed wind wings open, just like Cabriolet's std feature.
I’m restoring a ‘78 Super Beetle convertible, I just cannot wait to restore it to a condition like this! Your Beetle looks so great.
Had a new brand new Super ‘74 that my wife and I drove from New York to California and back during our honeymoon in the summer of 1974. Camped in many national parks as well as “climbed” to top of Pikes Peak. Fritz never missed a beat and brought us home safely. The most memorable car I’ve ever owned.
Great video, Jason, it’s obvious you really love that little car. They seem to do that to us.
I’ve owned a total of 11 VWs, 5 of them Beetles, a ‘65 red convertible, a white ‘67, an orange ‘74 Super, a ‘64, and my favourite, and first new car, a 1975 La Grand Bug, special edition SuperBeetle in Ancona Blue, with a sunroof, leather and corduroy upholstery, rosewood dash, rack and pinion steering, fuel injection, and a factory Blauplunkt AM/FM 8-track stereo. I drove that car from Vancouver to Mexico, then Vancouver to the east coast and back through the American Midwest. Never so much as a single problem on all those road trips.
The only time it let me down was when it died in an intersection close to home, a few months after I got it, and I had to have it towed back to the dealership. A wiring harness fastener came undone disconnecting the engine from what was telling it what to do. A two minute fix that never happened again. It broke my heart when my situation forced me to sell it, but I’ve regretted it ever since.
Nice job. Love it. My aunt had a red one 74 and i loved it back then. Good times. 😁
I have the same Super Beetle same color! I was the second owner! I just got it back from a family friend I sold it too and am going to start restoring!!!!!❤
Awesome review! You own a very durable antique model of car. Amazing!
I love that color scheme. I want one
I have a Super '74 of my own. I love how you say it's more than just a car. Driving a bug is more like riding a horse than driving a car. You FEEL the car, you're connected to the car. It's unlike any thing else. Keep the videos coming.
Exactly. Thanks Wiley.
Wiley Craft You our that very well!
Speaker setup is legit. An in-depth video on the audio system setup and design would help a lot of people out. Great job keeping her alive and kicking!
That is one clinking car , I had a 1302s in the 70s. Drove it everywhere for 9 years. Loved it
Love the two-tone paint job!
Great video! I am thinking of restoring a 74 Super Beetle.
Nice job on your bug . I bought a standard 73 bug . I’ve replaced the 1600 cc with a 1641 cc . She runs like a brand new car now and she needs a new paint job. The kids love the bug at the elementary school down the road. I’m learning as I go on mine.
nice car ..love the colour
Thanks Jason for such a fast and awesome response. Much appreciate Tim
Great video of your "74 Super Beetle, Jason. I bought mine in May of 1974 and, with my wife, spent my honeymoon driving cross country from Long Island, NY to Tijuana Mexico (camping in several national parks), up the coast of California and back to NY during that summer. Was a great car and I share your passion for the '74 Super Beetle version of "the people's car."
Great video! I have a 76 Super Beetle convertible that has also been in the family since new. It’s been through a lot, including 3 teenage boys in the 70s and 80s, but still running strong!
Very nice you v w super escarabajo 👍🏼
You inspired us to make a channel after inheriting two VW classics. Thanks for the great videos!
That's great!
Thats a fantastic little bug . Love your passion . I have a 1963 and 1972 . Thanks for the video . cheers from the Uk
Reminded me of the last car my grandma has ever driven, also a white 74 bug.....owned that car when my mom was a kid until my childhood....
LOOKS GOOD, AND AS LONG AS YOU LIKE IT, WHO CARES !!! Going tomorrow morning to buy a1974 yellow one, with 78,000 on the clock . Hope it don`t nickel /dime me to death !!!!
I also owned a 74 Super Beetle bought in in early 77. It was black with red interior and really in good condition. Only VW I've owned that didn't leak oil. I enjoyed it for years. Now I'm trying to fix up a 72 Super. Not going the restoration route but just a dependable daily driver with a bit of performance. Great video and keep up the good work.
Nice car, I have a 71 super beetle myself and enjoy it very much!!!
This is so cool, l can agree with getting Beetle fever, cos we got it too 😀
Bought a 1972 1302S, and a month ago, it got new paint, same as the original orange...
Fixing it to be as good as we can get it. This summer, we take it on a trip to Swedish mountains...will be s Awesome 😁
I had a 74 sb marina blue. Like yours. 🙂
Purrrrr. Enjoy !!
Hi Jason.. love the beetle.. took me down memory lane. I was a prouder owner of a 1300 n later 1303 super beetle 1974.. I ve learnt alot from my 1300 .. plenty of interesting stories.. but mostly enjoyed 1303 by far the best rides I ve ever own brought a tear to my eyes.. thank u..and well done hats off to u .💪
Who wouldn't like this guy and love that SuperBeetle? Great video man. Subbed
Thanks for the kind words Ryan.
I watched this video 3 times and will probably watch again. I just bought a 1978 Super Beetle convertible and am so excited! I don’t know if I’ll ever have the knowledge to do the engine work you have done, but there’s a lot of other things I know I can do. Thank you for the inspiration.
Don’t count yourself out! When I started I’d barely done an oil change. I just followed how to videos and manuals. Bugs are a great vehicle to learn on… they were for me. :-)
@@JasonExplainsThings Ok! I’ll just get ready for the journey. I’m so excited.
I have a 73. Behind your vents isn't rusted nearly as bad as mine was. If you get that "death foam" out, you can probably save a lot more original metal than I did. There are videos about how to get it out.
Great car, these bugs are so timeless!
Love watching your beetle videos Jason! Love your enthusiasm and video quality.
Thanks Tyler! I need to make another Beetle video. It's been way too long.
@@JasonExplainsThings Yes Please!!!
thanks for a great video, I had a 1972 and mine was never this nice.
Thank you for putting together an enjoyable video! I also have a Super Beetle that happened to include some original documents. You’ve inspired me to look for the dealer plate frames where my Bug was originally sold, Wes Behel Volkswagen in Sunnyvale, CA. Cheers!
Good pick with the Jetta GLI seats. I have a Mk1 GLI and even at 35 years old they are the most comfortable seats I've ever been in
Hey buddy you did a great job on that bug one tip for you move your fuel filter from your engine bay to the under side of the car above the transaxle to prevent a engine fire there's a bracket you can buy to mount it I have a 1971 standard beetle and I moved mine under it
Good point.
drove this car in high school back in 1984 very nice car same color baby blue
Amazing video amazing car. Thumbs up and subscribed!!
Sweet video! Very well done! I like all of the custom stuff you did to the car. It is a passion that never ends!
Awesome car & video, thank you for posting! You are very good.
Your car and video is very beautiful. I have a 1969 standard beetle and it too turns well. Congratulations from Sri Lanka
Gorgeous super beetle! My dad has a ‘70 standard with the metal sunroof. These are the cars that made me really love cars!
Great video and great work on the car. I just purchased a 74 Super Beetle. I just replaced one of the floor pans and have tackled some body rust. Thanks for sharing your video. I learned a lot.
Awesome. Congrats on the bug Barry!
Congrats! I just purchased a 73 Super!
Hello from Melbourne Australia! I really enjoyed the Video, i have a 73 'SuperBug' as they call them here. I love it, it's a head turner. So I fully understand the passion you have for yours, they are a unique vehicle. Not everyone gets it, but there are plenty who do. Mine also is a Blue/ White combination & it looks quite smart in my opinion :)
Awesome! Really enjoyed the video of your VW - I learned to drive on one with a semi auto stick - great car! Thanks again for sharing.
You're both superb! Thanks for sharing..
Loved the video and your car. I’m getting ready to do the Topline upgrade to the suspension and brakes on my Super Beetle. Glad to see that you are happy with it.
Amazing man, really was a tearjerker vid.
Looks fantastic! I put a cover over the back storage area with speakers in it on my bug too and it really added to the bass, at least to my 17 year old ears. But then I can see the roof rack becoming necessary.
Very nice Super, Jason. I am the owner of a 79' Super Karman convertible. I have the added pain of the Bosch EFI on mine. Parts can be a challenge but it's a great driving car. I'm currently replacing the floor pans on mine. Nice to see someone who doesn't bash on the Super Beetle for a change. It's a much nicer drive than the early bugs.
Congratulations, it's looks very Nice!!
Nice video and a SUPER.. Super Beetle.
Oh man! Is that a dang sweet bug, I really like the two tone combo of this one! Looking forward to restore my bug to rock that pretty two tone look....
Such an amazing bug , you did an amazing job
Nice tour of your car 🚗 I think I am going to add the dual carburetors to mine . I putting a new dash cover also. You should be very proud you did a very nice job
Nice and thank you! I’ll likely do dual carbs as well.
Great job,beautiful car👍
Very cool man! Very cool!
Awesome restoration on your car. And your enthusiasm and the pride in your work is equally awesome! I had a black 1974 super beetle, probably my favorite car of all that I've owned, and still wish I had it. I've added your video to my favorites to watch again, and probably again many more times.
Many thanks Michael.
I own a new beetle 2.3 v5 which I love but I love your super beetle too. I’ve loved the super beetle since it came out in the early seventies especially the 1600 version like yours. I’m proud to be a beetle owner just like you are. Thank you for the tour of your tasteful and practical mods you’ve done. 🇬🇧
A "V5" sounds confusing to me. for you need an even number of pistons in a V-formation.
That car looks great!!!
Great ride, Jason. Fun video, too. When you decide to go back to the stock carburetor, Tim Robeson does a premier job of restoring original Solex carbs. His company name is Volkzbitz. You can have him restore yours, or buy one of his. Not as expensive as you’d think, either. He also lives in Washington State. He restored my Solex 34 pict 3 in 2012 (and also installed a threaded inlet barb) in 2012. Here it is nine years later in 2021, and I’ve had no problems with it. Check him out.
Thanks! Yeah I still have it. I’ll keep that in mind.
loved it-cool
I have 2 Super Beetles, I love your video.
Excellent great nod love your beetle
Thanks so much for sharing your video, your wonderful family, (they're so cute), and your Awesome 74 Super-beetle. Your story made me
a subscriber. I hope to make my 1970 beetle as Awesome as yours. Keep the videos coming, I'll be up front with the popcorn. :-)
Thanks!
Saw your video...Great! Thank you for posting it.
Thanks! Is it spring yet? My poor bug has sat dormant under a cover in the garage for too long.
Yours has seen a lot of love. Looks and sounds great. Like your custom additions. I hope to have a good time with my own Beetle (Super, or not) within the year or so. Thanks for a great video.
Many thanks Steve.
Great Job!
So yeah I’m definitely doing the brakes!!
Superb video Jason.
Cool thanks Jason 👍
Beautiful. Exact replica of my 71 Super 👌
Congratulations very beautiful that your car! A lot of zeal brings an incredible result. Here in Brazil the name of your car is Fusca!
Ok... honestly.... I hate the white sides. But, super nice guy, loves his bug, probably a great family man, you got me. Subscribed and liked.
Cool enjoyed it
Mate, love this beetle!
Recaro seats. Perfect! I would do the same. My 73 SB had the vinyl. Could get sweaty in the heat.
Good video and very informative for me.
I personally would never invest in a 70s beetle but in your situation, its a must and great work nonetheless.
Thanks George. Yeah this car is going nowhere.
Love it
excellent job
Thanks James.
Hi
I like you're video too much that is clear and multi angles
Thank you
And I wish you make another one to explain the different between beetle and super beetle as the main parts and main design .
So thanks .
That would be awesome. If I can find someone with a standard from a similar year locally I’ll try to do that.
Your a wonderful story tellers!
Much appreciated. 🙌
Very nice car. A good exhaust, dual KAdron carbs, and a high quality performance distributor and coil would wake that little 1641 up and would run much better. I’m personally no fan of two tone paint jobs and color matched wheels especially on a late model car and think the roof rack looks like too much. Nice and clean is my style. I give you huge credit however for not installing headlight eyelids. Thate stock blue with some tasteful wheels such as sprint stars, cosmically, etc would look great with the standard blue paint. That’s just my opinion, and really enjoyed your video. Enjoy this vw !
Got a 1971 Clementine Orange Super Beetle new in 1971 with the auto stick transmission. Drove it through colledge and in 1977 put in some 8x10 Jensen speakers
In the rear deck similar to what you did with a radio/cassette player up front. Awesome sound! Gave it up in 78, sure wish I had it now!
Very nice
Nicely done restoration! definitely a car you drive for life. Had a 72 in a fairly mint condition back in 06 from my grand dad as a college gift. Sold it because I was young and stupid ( If its not fast, its grabage mentality). Planning to get one hopefully within 2 years if I find a good deal
Look out for the rust around the moon vents! Still looking to repair that some day.
Great car, I have one bought in SF
Great video. I’m in Salem Oregon. I have a 1969 VW bug and a 1992 Dodge D150.
The 1969 Standard Beetle is a great car. I love the flat dash!
My 2013 fender beetle makes me really happy but someday I hope to own one of the original ones!
I love those late Beetles. I’m hoping to grab an affordable turbo with a manual someday.
@@JasonExplainsThings love the car! I’ve had a 2004 turbo s and the fender edition I’ve mentioned above. I plan to get a 2019 final edition whenever my current one gives out. If they make an electric one after that I’ll buy that too 😂 I’m going to continue to own beetles for as long as I can!
Amazing video and a great car . I’d love to own one someday
Thanks! It’s part of the family for sure. If you ever get a 70’s bug check for that rust around the rear window.
Jason Explains Things thanks for the tip👍🏼
