Watching this made me so proud as a Mexican American woman/vocalist from San Antonio, I was fortunate to perform on the same stages here locally. Selena has been my mentor for 25yrs. I got the chance to be apart of Axiom productions for the movie Selena as a roses vendor in Alamo scene, ate dinner with Director Nava in front of me & the cast. She deserved this Star 22yrs ago, now I have my own little Selena who was born on April 16th Selena's birthday named "Symphony"..Selena your my inspiration & you have your biggest Star already in Heaven, we just wanted one down here for you⚘⚘
She deserves a star.....because she was one......the world missed out on how huge she could've been. She wasn't about drugs, drinking, being bad, plastic surgery........dysfunctional family......she wasn't narcissistic.....I love Selena because she was just a natural beauty, talent, great sense of humor, she was a good girl who wanted to influence and she really cared about people......what an amazing human being!!!!!! I'm sad she passed.......but she left a great legacy.....I'm a forever fan!!
Yasss my name is selena same thing like the lady my mom said if she had a girl her name would be selena SO HERE I AM I LOVE SELENA MY SELF ❤❤❤THATS MY FAV😩❤
OMG her comment at the end about it feeling like a glamorous old school ✨🌇🎥🎬Hollywood🎬🎥✨premier and just seeing the host having such a wonderful time just being there and seeing allllll the fans that came out and showed their love for 💋👑🌹La Reina🌹👑🎤 and her new 🎤💋⭐️star⭐️💋🎤made me bust out in tears of joy xoxo I💜U Selena 🌹💋🎤💃🏻👑🍕🌜🎼💜
A night time star ceremony is considered a big honor, and that just goes to show you the level of fame Selena rose to, and how loved and respected she is to this day. There will never be another like her - she had a combination of talent, charisma and class that was, and will remain, incomparable. Greatest artist EVER! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my god I had so much fun at this event. I remember arriving super early for this and waiting nearly 8 or 9 hours. But it was all worth it in the end I was right up front and got really good pictures and video. The next morning before I left for the airport I asked my Uber driver to take me by Capitol Records where I got a really good picture of Selena's star I loved it🌹🌹🎤🎤💋💋⭐️⭐️
Ana Johnson That's awesome! I've been a HUGE fan for 20 years, and I really wish I could have been there. You should post your pictures / video. I'd love to see them! And back East, where I live ( New York State ) there was a beautiful full moon on the night Selena got her star. Quite appropriate, considering her name means "Goddess of The Moon". Pretty cool timing!
I wonder why these people took such long time, if they wanted to take more time they should of, The Tex Mex Queen SELENA QUINTANILLA PEREZ doesn't need it because she is already a star living in heaven. These people need magnifying glasses they knew she had ALL the qualities such as charisma, love, humbleness, friendliness, just to name a few. Took forever to take care of business for something that had been earned. ;) At least she has it know, and must be very happy. :)
Pink Panther It was the last major honor that Selena had yet to be given, and yes, it's crazy that it took so long for them to do something that was basically a "no-brainer", given the things she achieved, but I'm stoked that it's finally happened! 😊👍😊👍😊
In the mainstream,Selena's popularity seems to be growing since her death, especially in the last 5 years. She's becoming an icon to the rest of the pop culture, not just to Latinos.
Messylin Yes, in the past few years, especially, Selena has really been dispelling the belief that only Latinos love her. She has fans and fan clubs all over the world, in places such as Poland, England and Austria, and her fan base is growing every year. Many of them weren't even born yet when she passed. I'm Italian-American, and I've been a huge fan for 20 years. I can't imagine my life without her music in it. She was as humble and compassionate as she was talented, and she more than deserves the honors she's recieved over the years. I'm glad that so many non-Latinos are beginning to come to know how incredible she was, both artistically and personally - something I've known for a long time.
A lot of people are in their right to question why such a talented artist like Selena received her star 2 decades later, while others who are less talented received it first. I agree with you guys, but at the same time I am glad that it happened when it did. I got a chance to be there and witness all the love her fans have for her. It was such an amazing experience to live and should she have gotten it years ago, I would not have had the chance to live it.
This is actually her 3rd star - she also has one on the South Texas Musicians' Walk of Fame in Corpus Christi, and another on the San Antonio Hard Rock Cafe Walk of Fame.
selfan4evr Those stars aren’t official stars..They were put there by Texas her home town state out of tribute due to her death. A Hollywood Star is a more official they award talent, they don’t just give these out just cause an artist died out of tribute. It’s an award given to honor talented artists for achieving ground breaking heights. Not only did Selena get a star on the cement sidewalk but a plaque & certificate. Selena is the 2,622nd person awarded a Hollywood Star & she was awarded the star for reaching record breaking music sales in the Latin genre.
OkayFloat Records How do you figure they're not "official"? One is on The South Texas Musicians Walk of Fame, and the other is on one of the Hard Rock's Walks of Fame. Sounds pretty "official" to me. It's not like somebody just came along and painted stars on the sidewalk without going through the proper channels, or like the ones in Hollywood are the only ones that are legitimate.
selfan4evr What I meant by that is that they gave her those stars due to her passing.. Where as Hollywood waited 20 years to see if Selena had a longevity in the music industry long after the hype of her death went away. They awarded Selena for her talent, her singing, her record breaking album sales. Her committed fan base proved to people who doubted Selena that she was a star not for her death but because of her talent.
OkayFloat Records She still should have had one in Hollywood a long time ago, though. There are artists who came along far more recently, and didn't achieve a fraction of what she did, who got one a lot sooner. That's messed up.
selfan4evr Nah I think the awards and recognition she’s gotten lately is perfect timing. Suzette her sister even said she’s glad it’s taken this long for her sister to get recognized by Hollywood. If she would have gotten all the awards under the sun in just that one year she passed away her fame would have faded away with time.. but because she didn’t get it right away it gave her fan base a reason to keep her relevant, to keep her music on the charts to prove that Selena wasn’t just a fad of her time that this was a Latin legend gone too soon.
I believe that it is awesome of presenting Selena a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California, over 22 years after her death. But there is a slight problem. It only says “Selena Quintanilla” on the star, and not “Selena Quintanilla Perez.” It seems that the Quintanilla family never wanted, or accepted, Chris Perez after all these years. And I have heard rumors in the English and Spanish media that Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, has filed a lawsuit against Chris. If this is true story, then Selena must be turning over in her grave. Because she had loved Chris so very much.
It's about time they finally did it
Selena I love you, you still live in our hearts, all over the world, I'm a fan from France.
Wii?....Mercy😄✌
from Peru....Selena is alive forever and ever
Selena will always be remembered she is and will always be my idol
I love how Suzette does a great job representing Selena!

Why does she have a star NOW it's 2017, she should have gotten long ago.
Yes but as her sister said there is a whole new generation that she has crossed over too.
It's perfect and just shows her longevity
Nikkigemstone Gaming right she is in her 40’s now think tf
