I listen to everything from Slipknot to Chuck Berry, to Jewel, Muddy Waters, Social Distortion, Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, Nas and when I get into a band and find out they dont write their own songs, 99 outta 100 times, Ill drop that band and start listening to whoever their ghostwriter is. Nickelback has always written their own songs and if youre a musician and have a band with good friends you grew up with and you're open to different styles of music, you'll write heavy songs, pop songs, funny songs, all kinds of shit and no one can fault Nickelback for these three reasons....#1They write their own songs, doesnt matter if you like them or not. They have written and recorded 5 or 6 albums now and TOURED behind each of those albums, sometimes for 2 years! That's more than I can say for most of the people I know who diss them for no apparent reason. #2 They've ALWAYS wrote albums that were half rock songs and half pop songs or ballads. THEY'VE NEVER CLAIMED TO BE METAL, OR EVEN HARD ROCK. So all the metal kids that feel like the blonde haired guy is treading too close to their territory need to realize they're acting like fucking children and Nickelback never claimed to represent a genre like Punk and Metal bands do. #3 Chad Kroeger is one of the biggest fucking music fans. He's the kind of guy who is like your friend who has every lyric to every song memorized by all your favorite bands, he knows all the member's first and last names, their hobbies, birthdays, all the other bands they were in and how the started. Guys who are in pop rock bands who are somehow ok with paying someone $100,000 for a song, instead of writing their own and never fans of music like that. And if they are, they are ashamed of themselves and will do everything in their power to cover the truth about the band using ghostwriters. #4 All the band members are well above average musicians as far as professional musicians go. #5 Nickelback has a handful of songs in odd time signatures! How much more prog rock can you get that 5/8?
I love watching these Steel Panther + Other musicians cause when there on stage they have so much fun with music and just forget about the money and the fame and just enjoy themselves .

Chad Kroeger playing drums...and awesome double kick drums as well...on Hot For Teacher! How cool was that? And Vinnie Paul just ready and willing to crank on some Poison?? So awesome. This was funny and yet when it came to the music? Steel Panther proved they can play. Poseurs or whatever. Gotta love it. So much fun.
