That winch got Mcdazzled... Darren on repair and Meg on forecasting and recon, what a team. Another wonderfully heartfelt, educational and technical episode. Thank you, your both legends. ⚓⛵

WOW! McDazzle or McGuyver! Dude can fix anything! And I know what you mean Meg. My cancer has put the breaks on a few things financially, for the time being, but we just keep on truckin! Best of luck in that weather, stay safe!

Oh Meg. I wanted to crawl through my monitor and give you a hug. You are so worth every precious cent you spend on your health. You yourself have taught me that love and living are far more important than things afterall.
From one kiwi sailer to another, may you have fair winds and following seas. And the very best of health (which goes without saying). Love you guys xoxo

    That is life Meg.
I have been there, I took care of my beautiful wife for 11 years , 34 operations, three types of cancer ,epilepsy and a colonoscopy bag,
So much to contend with, so hang in there you 2 and lean on one another for support
Please dont think i am complaining, appart from those problems we had 50 great years together. sometimes its good to hear other peoples stories.
Take care just hang in there.

Love you guys, always praying for you, you are an amazing woman and WORTH all that can be done to keep you around for a very long time, Darren is an amazing man and I am encouraged by his support of you, a man I would love to meet someday!!! ...
I notice this is a little over 6 months ago as Oma went through in February 12-23, as it turned out went South and then East to New Caledonia as a low...So glad you all were protected and OK as I have seen you all in the past hunker down in the Mangroves before, and that was a bit harry I'd say...

I'm glad you watched. you guys are very resourceful people. in my country, about 100 years ago, the history of aviation started by sailors. Because sailors know how to use tools, they know how to fix, they're resourceful and smart.
I wish you many years of happiness.

I have just discovered your channel and I'm delighted to make your acquaintance. Real sailors doing your stuff, and explaining as you go. Well done and rock on. My wife and I are quietly setting up to do something similiar.

Can I just add when you said you e been an expensive wife I thought immediately that you’ve been a “priceless” wife. A partner of your caliber, attitude and love for her husband doesn’t compare to a winch or a boat. All that can wait. Focus on your happiness and love for each other. That’s what matters in the end. Speedy recover! Keep a positive attitude, it’s a huge part of beating whatever it is. 😘

  • @lydiaajohnson

Meg, don't be sad. It's normal to feel the way you do when you know that the majority of resources are flowing in your direction. But, that's why I love your channel so much. You and McDazzle/My Honey are probably the best example I know of two people having a grasp of social connection in the reality of life. When we commit to another human/animal, we know something will break down whether it's our body or something mechanical. This is the story of life. I am glad you and McDazzle/My Honey have a mature grasp on that. You are there for each other in the storms as well as sunshine. It's about how we finish this journey called life. Love you and My Honey so much. (I think My Honey's name is Darren or is it McDazzle? Love your nick names, so I'm using them in the first person. :-) .)

Batman needs Robin and Darren needs you. You will get by one way or another. Take care of each other and continue the good life.

I know what's it like to be constantly cruising and having to repair anything and everything regardless of how many pennies you have to your name. But behind every man there is always a good woman. If that woman can pull an engine apart and put back together again without the manuals (they had disappeared into the dark void where everything disappears too) while the man in her life is sorting out some other major or minor issue, then they have a bond that is hard to break. All this can be happen when the weather decides to go to custard and you needed things to work yesterday. This I can speak from experience after many a time at sea and now having a partner who looks at life the same way I do. Problem! What problem? I only see a solution. With out her I would either have "crossed the bar" or worse, be on the beach.

The real challenges of cruising are actually just one challenge: Money. If you dont have enough money, your dream becomes a nightmare, especially when you grow older. One has to be realistic. Unfortunately. Peter Pan is only for kids.
