    I only have about a dozen soft plastics at a time. I've only got 1 bait keeper. I like to have a simple 3 inch swimbait, 4 inch Senko, some kind of ned bait and a creature craw. I have some combination of these in white, black, blue and green. That really covers all of your bases for lakes with any kind of baitfish and crawdads. My home lake is largely shad, I can fish a white swimbait off the bottom, suspended, on the bottom and everything in between. You do NOT need a lot of baits to wack fish.

    I have this unit as well and I’ve used it on 4 outings on the ice so far. Pretty comfortable with down scan but as far as forward scan goes I’m not sure if I’m setting it up right. I mess with my settings based on depth and everything to try and get the screen a bit bigger (I knew going in it wasn’t going to be full display) I see you have it zoomed as well. I guess mainly I’m curious as to how you go about adjusting scan distance and depth settings while using forward to get it as good as your display. Also curious if you mess with any other settings that impact the transducer. Loving the unit so far and thank you for showing it in action!

      Move transducer far from hole as possible facing tent and beyond for forward live

      @@Eagleeyeice @Eagleeyeice interesting I never thought to put the transducer outside of the tent to use forward. When you do that are you letting the ducer go as far down as it can with the pole or just below thickness of ice a bit? Another question i have is I know on the garmin live units you have to adjust the transducer mount when switching between forward and down mode. Do you feel like that is necessary or do you just toggle between forward and down on the head unit and leave it be?

      @ Hey there, the transducer is just below the ice, no need to reposition the transducer for inward to down. If you set up a deadstick in the transducer hole you can fish 2 different spots at the same time using two different methods from inside the tent :)

    this is the unit i wan tot get due to price, but only thing that im not liking is the narrow beam. here you have it far away from the tent so you can see your lure in forward facing and see fish coming but you cant pan around to see due to ducer/pole being away from tent. and down facing wouldn't work in 15' or less depth because you'll only see 6' total (3' each side of lure) which might as well have a flasher. i might look into Garmin ps22-if just to get more wider beam. but great video and is exactly what i wanted to see, will definitely do more research for ice fishing for a lower cost live sonar option

      @@juicechartier it’s a blast inside the tent using down live even shallow, nothing like 2d or flasher. When the fish start comming there is no desire to start scanning, you wanna get to fishing and watch from where they appear. It’s a different world from a flasher or 2d on ice. I though I would be spending more time forward and adjusting but it’s just been fishing with the extra excitement of knowing if they are going for my lure or my sons without having to differentiate by depth alone. The forward live is cool because of range in shallow but down live is absolutely killer killer killer when compared to the same size cone even in ten feet of water. No regrets

    Where is the sonar?..outside?

      The transducer is as far from the hole as possible facing the tent and beyond for forward facing. I setup a dead stick in the same hole and check in down live with no trouble

    Very ingenious and great video! Finally, someone showing real life and unendorsed use. So you're 15 - 17' away from the transducer? The cable from the transducer is that long?

    How is it in 30 feet of water?

      I can’t wait to do down live in deeper water. I will do more deeper forward as well in the next week or two. I’m expecting crystal clear as the auto noise reduction is killer, absolutely love this unit. As compact as it comes.
      The ability to fish down and forward at two locations with one unit is beyond expectations!
      Down at transducer location and forward towards shack. Same transducer, only a few presses of the buttons, love it!

    Welcome! Can such an effect be achieved by fishing from a boat? At what depth did you fish

    • @Eagleeyeice
      @Eagleeyeice  Месяц назад

      @@gustavklimt2390 you can face forward and down without switching the position of the transducer
      In a boat you normally face outward.
      Ice fishing would be inward facing to achieve this result.
