the design wasnt to be aerodynamic it was just to reduce the amount of metal used in its production, nowhere in its manuals does it include the shape for aerodynamics
@@patrickbateman9166 the UFO shape splits aero forces and directs part of them under the tank, not the best idea if you're trying to avoid flipping. It was an experiment in armour thickness through extreme angling, and in typical Soviet fashion some idle speculation that it would withstand blast waves turned into "It is immune to nukes!" propaganda.
Gotta love the Tam and specially the tam-2ip side armour not triggering the fuze of the 122s and above even tho the 2IP even has composite screens to help fuze them
Fr I’ve bounced APFSDS on Tam’s They are so resilient It’s stupid I’ve shot one on the front where the 2 plates meet with DM33 And… it bounced… It’s like when a BMP2 eats a whole 106mm HESH round to the side and only loses its optics and track Sometimes, this game’s mechanics just don’t work
The TAM 2OP is like that because its a premium. Easy 9.0+ performance but has never moved from 8.7. The same BR as its (worse in literally every way) counterpart, the TAM.
Also tip for big guns with APHE when shooting at light targets, always aim for big modules like the breech or engine so the shell fuses and overpressures the crew

i still play this thing from time to time and everytime im suprised how well it performs against modern tanks, love how salty ppl get when their lepturd cant pen it
I could have gotten this tank but I grinded so much for it that I just felt terrible because war thunder is so frustrating playing it hour for hour every day. So I stopped playing half way threw the event and only started playing the game again half a year later
Dude am not kidding but yesterday i played a round and then i got shot and i was looking to see how many crewmates i had then i saw i had only one crewmate i was wondering wtf? and i was still alive
i nolifed the event to get this tank and they shot the BR to the sky almost immediately, then everyone figured out how to counter it and i was breeched every single game lol plus it’s like they broke the exterior self extinguishing fuel tanks while nerfing it, now i just don’t play it anymore
Well, depends. Any premium round can go straight through the front, but yeah, tier 9 and down can't do anything to it, and it has the most braindead playstyle in the game

The object 279 is way too strong for its br it should go to 9.0-9.3… 1 279 can bully an entire team… yesterday a 279 was fighting 5 teammates and they kept dying until someone shot his barrel but still could not kill him I bombed him so they could move on but it’s way too strong
Ok what? You spawn the Obj 279 TWICE and get only 10 kills and you get a nuke out of it? Points are rigged man, I get 15 kill games with 0 deaths and cant spawn a nuke. I get people on my team telling me to spawn a nuke and they're blown away when I say "Can't, not enough points". Also yeah, the fuse on the Obj round is bugged because it will fly through more than enough armor to set it off but continue to fuck on off right through the entire enemy tank. Also it still gets overpressured by autocannon HE rounds.

2:30 of course the 130mm aphe shell dissapeared through like nothing but the 14.5mm mg shrapnels like an apfsds. Gaijins post pen effects are so broken
it's suffer at up tiers most of my games 9.7 it's so easy to kill enemys at 8.7 buz most of the tanks with no amour but at up tier you screwed and down tier you to op
