- Hello, it's Nia's lowest-tier owner! This week, Nia escaped again and nearly caused a traffic accident. It was really dangerous this time, so I'm adding more safety measures to her walking gear.

It’s been 50 weeks since Nia joined our family!
This week, I'll talk about the progress in her allergy treatment and the nerve-wracking escape incident.
■Nia's Allergy Treatment Progress
It's been 4 weeks since we started treating her allergies, and 1 week since we stopped giving her antibiotics. Thankfully, her allergic reactions haven't returned. However, Nia keeps scratching the lump on the back of her neck, possibly due to itching, which is slowing her recovery.
■Nia's Escape Incident
During our jog this week, Nia escaped again! She got excited by another dog and pulled on the leash, causing her harness to come off, and she ran away with nothing on. Fortunately, there were few cars around, and we avoided a major accident, but I had to chase her for about 5-10 minutes.
Although we managed to catch her safely, I realized how crucial it is to take stronger preventive measures so this doesn’t happen again.
■Searching for Escape-Prevention Gear
To prevent future escapes, I searched for new collars and harnesses on online stores and at pet shops. Since I couldn’t find anything promising, I ended up purchasing an adjustable collar from Pet Plus in Aqua City Odaiba. I plan to attach it to her waist and connect it to the leash, adding an extra layer of safety.
I also bought dog-friendly bread with clear allergen labeling. I’ll try giving it to her and see if she has any allergic reactions.
■A Meeting at the Pet Shop and a Message for Italian Greyhound Owners
At Odaiba, I met another Italian Greyhound owner and talked about Nia's escape incident. They mentioned they've experienced several escape incidents in the past and now use a harness with three layers of belts. For those planning to adopt an Italian Greyhound, I recommend considering a harness that secures in three places!

イタグレ飼いです。トレーナーさんに指導してもらいながら呼び戻しや犬のサインについては継続的に学習中です。
もちろん適切な道具も必須ですが、身体能力では追いつけないし、それを押さえつけようとするとガチガチの拘束になってしまい、本末転倒...
他の人との交流も大事だし犬の刺激になるとは思いますが、会話中も自分の犬の様子からは目を離さず、嫌がる・拒否的・興奮しそうなどのサインが出たら、初期の段階で相手の方から離れて犬の安心スペースを取り戻してあげることも必要なんじゃないかなと思いました💦
今回ニアくんに大事なくてほんとによかったです。偉そうにすみませんでした。

今回の脱走事件は、まさに「油断」から発生したものだったので、仰る通り気を抜かず、長くなりそうなら抱っこするようにしたいと思います！

我が家のイタグレはリードなしで散歩大丈夫〜と、、
最近堤防の人のいない場所で、リードなしで散歩していたら、、突然走り出し、、なんと、カラスを追いかけてしまい、、慌ててリードをつけて帰ろうとしたら次はカラスがガーガー鳴き、途中までついて来ました。怖かったです。
やっぱりドッグランしかないのですねー。
