ngl whenever I look back on clips of each alien it feels like, whether intentional or not, Greymatter intelligence is focused around crafting and book smart, while Brainstorm feels more combat and problem solving smart. It might be due to the size difference but it feels weird how many Greymatter clips exist where he just jumps into something to destroy something or reprogram it just makes it feel like that's his main specialty while in comparison I feel theres a good chunk of Brainstorm clips of him either fighting or using his sherlock vision.
I also like the idea of Ben getting two intelligence aliens that focus more on different types of intelligence instead of them both being super smart and nothing else.

This is a very unique take on this usually I just hear “oh galvins made the omnitrix and the crustaceans made a knockoff that doesn’t work right it’s clearly the galvins” it’s that or smt on those lines

I would argue that Grey Matter might have more empathetic/social intelligence than Brainstorm, as we see how Ben only becomes more arrogant as Brainstorm and not when being Grey matter.
That would fit as earths crustaceans are not very social, or at least less social than frogs.

I'm just going to post my headcannon that galvans have better computational intelligence on average while cerebrocrustaceans seems have more creative intelligence due to things like been suddenly expanding his lexicon whenever he is transformed. I also think that the latter might be due in part to the fact that the electrical powers of the cerebral crustaceans probably started as some sort of display feature, rather than being selected for primarily intelligence, what's admittedly the only evidence backing this up being psychobo's fiddler crab claw which is possibly another display feature that was not as heavily selected for/a vestigial remnant of the cerebrorustaceans evolutionary past.

If you were to include their records, I would have to say that Galvans are smarter. Azmuth has built a sword with stupidly powerful slaying abilities that can take on a Cthulhu beast, a fancy space rolex to store intelligent species DNA so they don't go extinct, something to stop the space rolex if it were to fall into the wrong hands, and of course Primus and the Galvanic Mechamorphs.
As for Cerebrocrustaceans, while they do have feats like making the bootleg space rolex that Azmuth made in a much faster time, and building whatever weird fruit mixing device on Rook's planet. What makes them unique is that they are more combat prepared than Galvans due to them having electrical powers and their reasonable size to humans that pose them as a bigger threat. So it probably save to assume that they are smarter in terms of combat.
So in the end, while I think Cerebrocrustaceans are smart, Galvans records (as far as we've known and shown) thrums them.

In real life, intelligence is a very hard thing to quantify. There are many different mental skills which can be considered to be part of intelligence including learning speed, memory, mental calculation, planning/strategy, social/emotional intelligence, etc. Different animals have different skills based on what they need to survive. For example, herd animals like cows have very good social intelligence because social interaction is necessary for their survival strategy. Chimpanzees are able to count incredibly fast, faster than a typical human. And humans have excellent planning skills compared to other animals. We can think about the future and plan what we are going to do years in advance. Many people would lump all these different skills as one thing, intelligence, but really they are different abilities which are related but not one-for-one.
Sidenote, it is true that brain size doesn't necessarily equal intelligence. If that were true then Sperm whales would be the most intelligent creature on the planet, which isn't accurate. As a general rule, one way of estimating a rough level of intelligence in some animals is comparing brain size to body size. What percentage of the whole body does the brain make up. Using this rule, we find that humans have the greatest brain/body ratio with bottle nose dolphins being second. This is more of a general rule-of-thumb rather than something that is true in every case. Arguably, there are organisms without brains which have some degree of intelligence. Slime mold has shown to be very good at navigating mazes despite being a blob of goo.
Also, octopus intelligence as works way different than vertebrates. Vertabrates have one central brain where as an octopus has several large nerve clusters which essentally cause each individual tentacle to have its own pseudo-mind. Octopus brain power is more even distributed throughout there body and they are on of the smartest creatures on Earth.
The thing about Galvans having two brains is not entirely unheard of in the animal kingdom. Some scientists think that some dinosaurs may have been so big that they needed a smaller, secondary brain to help with basic functions like movement. Its theorized that these dinosaurs had their main central brain in their head, and a smaller brain found their lower back, near the tail. Signals from head to tail would have taken too long without such a mechanism.

Sorry in advance, but while you were talking about which species is smarter my brain had a neuron-activated moment when I saw your new model. But going off on computing and overall fight or flight response, I say crabs are much smarter than frogs. To be honest, frogs are not very "smart" when compared to many other species. They don't learn much from experience and rely almost exclusively on instinct. Despite having far smaller brains than many other animals, crabs are yet capable of sophisticated learning.

Shouldn’t we also take into account the lifespans of the aliens. I don’t know if the show ever gave us any lore when it comes the cerebrocrusteans but azmath has be alive long before king author. That should be another point for galvins they live longer.

  • @Alandosaurus
    @Alandosaurus 7 месяцев назад

    Imo,
I think brainstorm is smarter than greymatter.
For the simple reason of brainstorm having a much better intelligence at his peak against graymatter in that video.
And before anyone says that greymatter is a faster thinker, that doesn't really matter because intelligence is about gathering knowledge/information of something or more things, speed isn't relevant because having more info about a thing despite taking a little bit more time is much more a fair tradeoff than having like one aspect of a thing than in a second.
Also a second point to bring is that graymatter can achieve/reach his peak faster than brainstorm as proven in the video, but brainstorm has a better peak than greymatter, but takes more time to achieve/reach, yet again proven in this video.
That's what I have to say here.
Interesting video btw keep that up👍

9:14 huh I git it right! WAIT WHA? Here I thoughtI commented a lot around here pfftt!
For as many leaps are made in considering these species intellect, the conclusion of them being intelligent in different ways seems very sensible and fit with what we've seen. Though, OV seems pretty happy to imply Galvans are smarter in rather odd ways.

Potential intelligence is actually based on surface area to volume ratio, basically how wrinkly it is. Yeah, that is quite literally what determines intelligence. So we would need to know the surface area of a Galvan's brain to quantify it. Unfortunately, the only thing we get is Ultimate Albedo's head which is going to be both smoothed out by the skin around it and not accurate to a regular Galvans, and Azmuth's brain, which was just a glowing orb, not the brain.
However, given what we see from Ultimate Albedo and adjusting for skin smoothing and hyperevolving, it's unlikely a normal Galvan's brain would have a surface area to volume ratio higher than a Cerebrocrustaceans, making Cerebrocrustacean's have a higher potential intelligence than Galvan's. Of course, I say potential because there's various other factors like environment, diet, experience, etc. that go into determining actual intelligence.
Not to mention, Cerberocrustaceans canonically get their electrical powers from overfiring neurons. Galvans don't have that problem, thus not getting electrical abilities.

I think that galvins are more creative which gives them the ability to create better technology along with their long life spans also i feel like this creativity developed because the galvins are weak and so have to inovate and think quickly to get out of a bad situation
Brain storm might more intelligent and smart but but i feel like the galvins are a much smarter society
For ben on the other hand both have different uses
