“A hard cramp to overcome….” 😂great advice and humor too.
I have a lot of funny stories about cramps. Today, trying to deal with that flood, at the end of all the work I got into my car and I got the weirdest hip flexor cramp.
Coach Dan, thank you for all the wonderful lessons that you have taught me! I have read some of your books, watched your digital video version of 'Intervention', completed your goal achieving course, and enjoyed many of your podcast episodes. You have made me a happy, balanced, and successful person. I will continue to keep on lifting and learning!
And if you felt the need to make my day, you just did
For me, the back soreness alarm is a couple of things.
1. People who have been working out awhile have usually learned to tell the difference between muscle soreness and "somethings wrong" soreness.
2. I don't usually get bent out of shape when my middle to upper back, glutes, or hamstrings feel tight and sore the next day. If it's my lower back though, I likely did something wrong. If my neck is tight, see point 1.
That’s a good checklist
Outstanding! Following the barbell program in the book Armor Building Formula. It gave this 70s trainee a reason to bring back my Sears barbell set from the early 60s. How fun is that. I have progressed to the Olympic bar and plan on going to kettlebell program next. Great rehab for coming off of serious accident and hospital stay. Thank you Coach.
Thank you so much. I can’t tell you how impressed I am by this. Please keep me informed on how things are going. It’s an honor to work with you.
These breakdowns are supremely advantageous!
I'm enjoying this format more & more!!! 💯🔥💪🏾
I’m glad you like it. I do my best to answer the questions as fully as I can.
Just bought your ABC book!@your website. I've done a lot of workouts based on what you give away for free, and got my own ABC workout routine that I like, but hey, I got a warm fuzzy feeling when I hit pay.
Awesome! Thank you!
As always, great podcast
Thanks for listening
For what it's worth, I care how many pull ups you can do. Agreed, though, the single-arm press is great.
So we are agreed
Hi Dan, from your ABC book ( love it by the way ) I was fascinated by your description of muscular dudes in hoodies walking into a gym and dumbbell continuous clean-and-pressing weights then walking out if they were short on time.
I've been doing dumbbell continuous clean and presses a bunch lately, do you have any strength standards for this lift?
Look at those Bosco standards. I think 120 pounds per hand is a good measuring stick.
Danke!
Much appreciated

Thank you for sharing that
Hi Dan,
I need to do a transformation for a part in a movie. I am in good shape but it has to be in better lets say . 4 months of time for prep. I can workout three times a week around 30 minutes each time. I like full body circuits . Any exercises complexes suggestions? I use 16 kg kettlebells but i adapt to any kind of tool. Thanks for your wisdom.
Well, it’s gonna be diet first. Obviously complexes are your friend. Circuit training is your friend. I’m hoping you’re going to focus on sleep and some kind of excellent recovery also. If you want to follow up, ping Podcast and ask Brian to send this to me and maybe we can talk.
I tend to agree. When your neck or back is sore your body recognizes that it is down for the count. Definitely a primitive stop Gap measure.
It’s always a good idea to take it easy when your neck or back is hurting
If you can
@@DanJohnStrengthCoach yes sir. While I have you here, just wanted to say thanks for all you do. You are unknowingly my internet father figure lol.
Would a sandbag work for the barbell version of the ABC?
I haven’t done it, but maybe
I have your books Never let go and Intervention. I am turning 40 this year and want to stay fit and maybe get a bit leaner. Could you explain which one of your latest three books is suitable for whom and what is new compared to the two I mentioned above. Thanks and I wish you a happy weekend.
The latest ABC book is pretty much targeted at us middle aged people who just want to stay a little leaner, a little bit fitter than we were yesterday.
Thank you for that. The Omni book is an overview of an important training style. Easy strength for fat loss I think is really a good book but other commentator is right, the new building formula might be best for you.
@@DanJohnStrengthCoach Thank you very much for your answers!! I will look for the ABC Book.
Just one other question: Why the „omni“? I had latin in which omni means „all“, but haven‘t figured it out yet?!
Happy Weekend!

Dan...greetings from Croatia...this week on Friday I finish SCABC, I never thought that a 16 kilo kettlebell could be so heavy, on Wednesday 10.7... 30min SCABC ... pure hell. On Friday, I still have to do the single KB press and that's it.....then a little rest and I'll repeat the training with a 20 kg kettlebell. I am 185 cm tall and at the beginning of the training I weighed 90 kg,my waistline was 94.5 cm, and in those 6 weeks I lost 3 kg of weight and my waistline decreased by 3 cm. Yesterday, after 30 minutes of SCABC, I measured myself...87 kg and waistline 91.5 cm.

This is fantastic to read. Congratulations to you. It’s a very simple program, but I think it really is quite good.

Hey Coach - all I have is a bar and plates in my garage. A squat rack would be nice, but hard to fit. Do you think cleans + front squats (having cleaned the bar) will be enough to get me a good lower body stimulus?
Yes, absolutely. I’ve done this in my career and as I look back, it was some of the best training of my whole life.
@@DanJohnStrengthCoachThank you!
Asking about how to warmup before a workout is like asking how to put on your pants before going to the gym.
I would answer that question too
@@DanJohnStrengthCoach You're a good man, Mr. John.
