They are actually fun, Put the cheap ebay ones on my 2003 Cobra mustang, really wakes up the sound when you want it louder. 😅 Easy to install with a Tailpipe cutting tool. Done in my garage with jack stands. 😅
How have they held up after 3 years? Any cons you would add? Ive been wanting to add them to my Durango. I just get a lot of feedback about them getting stuck. Not QTP in general just valves.
Well, I haven't been as diligent as I should have with the liquid wrench. If you lube them monthly like they suggest, they should cause trouble. Mine are just now starting to stick. Time for the spray again. Other than occasional hang ups, it still works pretty well. I'd like to replace it with the non-variable opening. Click once to open, click again to shut. That's the ticket. Halfway open or any variable opening (other than full) like shit.
@@DaveTec223 thats good news. How often are you supposed to lubricate them? I didn’t know they have different versions. I always thought it was one button open and close.
How does it sound when driving. I have a granatelli cutout and it should like shit with ECO mode. Any issues with reduced acceleration when you floor it with the cutout open?
Well, it's loud and drones, and generally annoying as hell. Once I've had enough loud, I close it. And I have noticed a bit of acceleration loss when open. The MDS system sounds like you've got a jake brake on or something. The fix for that is to shift it into 8th gear and it'll quit trying to drop out the other 4 cylinders. The power loss can only be fixed with a proper tune.
@@DaveTec223 Jake brake is a great analogy lol. I have the 6 speed so I have to do the same thing to bypass the MDS but with the column shifter and +/- buttons. Thanks for confirming my suspicions.
Hell yeah! It sounds splendid on cold starts with the cutout open. I've got a decent sound system in it, but I usually just roll around town listening to the HEMI sing.
@@manuelwagoner678 I'm thinking about adding a set to my Infiniti Q50 right past my 3" AMS Lower Down Pipes. If I had to do over, I'd get the one that you press the button once and it either opens all the way, or closes all the way. I thought I'd like the variable opening, but it just wears out the battery on the remote faster. QTP offer both.
Do you mind telling me what exhaust setup you have? i wanted to install the same thing to my truck but wanted to see what your exhaust set up is to be compared to mine.
Well, I think I screwed up and installed BEFORE the cats, when I should have installed AFTER the cats. Now I need to get an unlocked PCM like a Diablo or similar and have the thing tuned.
This is a Y pipe that has an electronic cut out valve that routes the exhaust directly out BEFORE it gets to any exhaust system. It won't quiet down what you have, but it will sure open it up and make it louder.
This is perfect lol i can be loud in the morning and quite at night lol

Sounds like there's a rumble in the jungle : )
If the cutouts weren’t so expensive I’d do them on my 5.7 ram as well. But I’m cheap so I just run open headers.
they sell for like $60 on ebay thats not expensive

Did you just straight pipe it or leave the stock exhaust?
