I was going to say...DID Prince WIlliam ever have this candid conversation with his father about his mother's death. He DOES make a very valid point and even Charles can't deny it. He can say it hurts him, that his son is making this point, but I think even Charles believes it in his innermost heart. Charles wanted Camilla and he didn't care if he hurt Diana in the process. I think William and his Aunt Anne share a similar attitude when it comes to Camilla. That's why Anne even said "You are NOT the QUEEN....you are just the King's wife." when Camilla tried to make herself Queen.

William said all what needed to be said to Charles about Diana. It was his fault, he should have loved his wife and stayed faithful. All the money and influence in the world and you’re blessed with a beautiful, vulnerable, intelligent and caring wife and you cheat on her until it’s painfully aware that you don’t love her for continuing to hurt her.
Well, if you want to make that connection, you could then blame the queen for all this. If the royal family had allowed Charles to marry Camilla from the get-go, he wouldn't have had to choose Diana.
@@AndyBluebear-fi9om I think Diana idealized the man Charles could have been, should have been if his relationships with his parents had been on more stable ground. She craved a strong, attentive father figure, he yearned for a warm, cossetting mother figure so the disaster of their marriage was set in motion from Act I Scene I. Neither could give the other what they needed, though I think they did try. Without the relentless glare of fame blinding them both, they might have had a fighting chance but put the press and the public in the mix and you get the horror of what happened in 1997.
I recently read Tom Bower’s book, “Revenge”… and he wrote that William was not close with Charles until the last few years… he wasn’t a fan of Camila, as well until recently.
I appreciate the diverse perspectives shared in the comments section. It is important to acknowledge that we have all made mistakes and have flaws. Instead of passing judgment because you don’t know what really happened you don’t know the conversations. This is just a TV show.
William was only 15 years old when Diana died, Just imagine how awful it must have been for him back then, and how long it took for him to stop actively mourning her. Frankly, I don't know if he has stopped, or can stop. She raised him for the most part, and was taken away from him and Harry far too soon.
Charles is to blame for Diana's death! If he had been faithful to her they would have never divorced. William is so right about Charles hating how everyone loved Diana and took the attention away from him. So proud of William for confronting Charles on his part in this.
But how do you know that? They were two very different people, Diana was very intellectually uncurious. Courtiers were apparently astonished by her lack of knowledge. Also, this show does leave out some things like when she was seeing Dr. Khan; he found her possessiveness suffocating. She would get angry when he wasn't able to take her phone calls because he was in the operating room performing surgery. People have to remember, this show is based off of real people and real situations but ultimately, is is historical FICTION
@sheilaeilers4363 still though it shows . William defending his beloved mother and he could of been angry at this time . He knew how unhappy, sad she was .
Diana had her own affairs as well. And many couple sometimes divorce for reasons that have nothing to do with fidelity. We have no guarantee Charles and Diana would have stayed married if Camilla wasn't in the picture. At the end of the day, Diana made her own choice, and agreed to the divorce. Just like she made the choice to hook up with Dodi.
How shameful that Harry was left out on this, and William upstage Harry when the queen asked for only William’s opinion of charles marrying that woman.
Because Harry was too young. William is the future King and the oldest son. They put William in an adults position and ignored Harry. Wrong on both counts.
Charles got his rottweiler in the end, but I don't think she makes him happy. I think that he always looks haunted and sad. He has learned one of life's harshest lessons: The grass is VERY RARELY greener on the other side.
Charles asked Camilla to marry him when she was still single but she didn't think she could cope with being in the Royal family . He loved her from early on . Diana was chosen to be his wife because she had no previous history . A match doomed from the start . Remember this series is partly fiction for entertainment . I adored Diana and mourned her death but I am glad to see King Charles happy and it's obvious he and Queen Camilla are very happy together . Old lady in the UK . Best regards to you ❤
KC3 has never been held accountable for the many events caused by his selfishness, insecurity. His terrible treatment of Princess Diana. After all, he was the heir to the throne. With his position & power he wielded to get whatever he wanted.
Do you think the show creator dumb enough to make fictional stories like this without actual the truth of it ? There are so many people from royal family called insider who knew what happened in that palace and willing to sell their souls by spilling their royal secrets for 💰
I think the problem was when Charles said he was proud of how William had come through it - you can just about see William saying "I haven't gotten through this Dad!'
I agree with William here. There have been too many royal conspiracies to take family members out of the picture like brothers fighting for the throne. And this got proven right when it didn’t take long for Camilla to enter the family after the Queen's death
There's a big difference between saying Charles's emotional neglect and adultery led to Diana's death, and suggesting a conspiracy to "take out" someone. Proved what right? Charles married Camilla in April 2005. Elizabeth II died in 2022. Presumably you mean the Queen Mother, who had died in March 2002. Three years isn't all that long?
And this is all true and Charles knows it, Diana loved him. That woman never wanted a divorced. The three things she loved was the monarchy, her kids and her husband.
At the end of the day, Charles could have firmly said “no” to his grandmother and parents who arranged this doomed marriage with Diana. So all of this was his doing. Not marrying Charles very well would have sparred Diana from her bulimia, suicide attempts and the tragic car crash.
Gross. It feels so dirty and gross to recreate and watch a representation of a family’s most intimate struggles with no knowledge or right to it. That desire is truly what killed her.
I think Charles does. Camilla does from time to time, but one of the things that Charles probably likes about Camilla (aside from the fact that he shouldn’t like her which is 90% of her appeal) is she doesn’t feel overly weighed down by her sins. And she encourages him not to either. She’s got a sense of duty (unlike Meghan, and she’s far more successful at her longterm task), but she’s not bogged down like the heavy Scorpio that Charles is. I do believe he is still paralyzed by Diana. Even though Camilla lightens his burdens. He knows we will never forgive his choices.
@jokodihaynes419 well Diane was actually seeing someone else in France or Italy I do think when Charles was seeing that other woman sorry I forgot her name lol

But it was her destiny to marry Charles, to love him and have children with him and completely change the world. An anonymous aristocrat wasn’t her destiny.
This scene hits hard! Charles was part of a horrible chain of events that culminated in Diana's death, chiefly him throwing a tantrum about her keeping her HRH status which she deserved as mother of the future King of England. Because of his childish demands that she be stripped of her royal status, she lost royal protection so for him to go on about wanting her to have police protection is absurd. William dropped so many truth bombs here, Charles was staggered. I truly believe this conversation happened in real life, probably more brutal and I think Harry went at Charles too at some point as he well deserved for his part in the mess of his and Diana's marriage. The one thing I will give Charles is that he finally stood up to the Queen where it concerned bringing Diana's body back and treating her with the dignity she deserved.
Everyone else who leaves the RF loses pretty much everything they gained through their marrige - including HRH - so why should Diana be any different, simply because she was the mother to William?
@@AndyBluebear-fi9om Fergie wasn't the mother of the future king so losing her status wasn't a big issue. Diana should never have lost hers. Both women made terrible choices in men for sure but as I said, Charles was surely part of the terrible chain of events that led to Diana's death.

His intentions were calculated, devious, yet he knew she had to be innocent. Charles and Camilla disgust me. His charity works, etc. evaporate in light of his lifetime of self centeredness. Camilla fits no where in this world.
Diana knew! Whole snooping in his office two weeks before the wedding, she found the bracelet. She married him anyway, because she married the title, not the man.
All the comments here agreeing that Charles' actions caused Diana's death are astounding... Charles is responsible for his actions and Diana was responsible for hers. She was not a child devoid of agency. But most importantly, Henri Paul was responsible for his when he took control of that car knowing he was under a heavy influence.
Charles should've stayed married to Diana for the boys sake. Charles wanted things to go his way. William was right, Diana is dead because of Charles. That princess deserved better 😢💔
Charles should’ve stayed married to Diana for HIS sake. 90% of their problems were her being 20 years old and learning to handle the weight of the monarchy and fame. She adapted as no other, and if he could’ve hung in there through her dramatic early twenties, she would’ve given him a great life.
The Queen ordered the divorce. Diana had inherited mental instability. She was getting worse every year. No spouse deserves to be saddled with that for life. She would have ended up in an asylum. Harry will eventually.
I don’t like that they made Charles seem so intelligent and nuanced. He isn’t. He honestly believes his bathwater helps the plants grow. I’m not joking. He stated this.
Let's not kid ourselves. This is a conversation that everyone wishes happened and needed to happen, but obviously never did. Yet we know everything that both sides said was true. Charles is not so much as trying to convince William he's not at fault but also convince himself, because on some level he knows William is right. Charles' affair and his lack of any love for Diana is what led to them splitting up and how she would come to be where she was.
As if Diana was the first wife whose husband had a mistress. She was a foolish girl (even at 36) who had no business being a member of the Royal Family. She was immature and headstrong and had the "emotional intelligence" of the six year old, that her mother left for another man. Diana caused history to repeat itself when she chose to stay in Paris instead of flying home to England. How dare she want sympathy for being an abandoned child and then do the same thing to her own children. Those boys should have been her number one priority. That was her purpose and she failed.
This is one of the only scenes in the Diana era that I think actually might’ve happened. I do believe Charles grieved deeply. And of course it was his fault. She would never have been in Paris if he hadn’t made her so unhappy. She gave the monarchy everything, and Charles knows it. To this day. I’m sure he still sees Diana in his dreams, regretting everything.
They were divorced! She should have been on holiday with her mother or sisters or other female friends. Her conduct was not only unbecoming to herself, but to her sons. Why couldn't she find a respectable man?
He had everything to do with her death but this show wasn’t going to address it. They made Charles look so human like he truly cared when in reality he only cares about himself.
Williams status is rising and so is his power and authority within the firm - both Charles and Camilla need to duck for cover due to their abhorrent behavior in the past Harry has bee very vocal but William has played the long game
Its been 26 years and i still remember what i was doing. It was early, i was making final food for my sons bday. I answered a call later about the passing of an aunt of my husbands. I completely forgot. For years 😅. I didn't mean to forget and the aunt that passed wasn't missed except by the kids.
Did the crown cover the fact that Charles and Diana were good friends in the year that she died, and that he had invited her to balmoral that summer and she had accepted? She was due to go there after the Paris trip. ….or did they make up their own version of events?
And people bash Harry for leaving, he had real life trauma dealing with what happens when a woman isnt protected from the media. He did right by Megan and his family and his mother. If no one else is proud of him I sure am for breaking this generation trauma cycle. All of it is the queens fault she couldve let Charles marry Camilla in the first place and dealt with the fall out as she had to do anyway. and just maybe Diana would still be here living a happy life.
There was no conspiracy. It was an accident. To think otherwise is completely unreasonable. Charles behaved badly and then so did Diana. It was an ill fated marriage. If you want to blame anyone (in addition to the drunk driver and Diana not wearing a seatbelt), blame the paparrazzi who were chasing the car.
But Charles’s action even before the wedding put everything in motion. Diana was responding as best she knew how. Charles and that wicked woman are the one that history is going to look negatively upon.
@mitchminer2031 They were courted and their hands were tied up the end. What happened happened and it can't be changed, but putting the blame on any of the both of them isn't fair on them nor their William and Harry. The people to blame are really the paparazzi and the driver that was plastered drunk.
I personally agree with Prince Harry for leaving the whole thing behind by moving Himself, Megan and Archie to California. I saw as im sure Prince Harry saw that they were treating Megan in much the same way as they treated Diana. Im not saying that they have since handled the situation well. The interview with Opra was a mistake and their children will pay for it. Charles and William will never forgive him and thats a shame because we only have a short time on this earth and it shouldn't be spent estranged from family. I do understand his reasons though
There are no children! Narcissists use their children as props for photo ops, sympathy, etc. Those children were hired and have not been seen since when? Child protective services should pay a call to establish that there are no children.
I agree with William she should’ve been more faithful to his mother he should’ve treated her right but it is not his fault that Diana died it was her decision to love someone else after the divorced and the driver should’ve never got in the car with alcohol 🍺 in his system
Charles has always been a selfish, weak little man but what is not often reported is that at the time of her death Charles and Diana were on good terms and they often had tea together.and attended events at their children’s school together.

If William and his dad had this discussion, I would not be at all surprised,
Charles is not that emotionally mature. 😂
I recently read Tom Bower’s book, “Revenge”… and he wrote that William was not close with Charles until the last few years… he wasn’t a fan of Camila, as well until recently.

William was only 15 years old when Diana died, Just imagine how awful it must have been for him back then, and how long it took for him to stop actively mourning her. Frankly, I don't know if he has stopped, or can stop. She raised him for the most part, and was taken away from him and Harry far too soon.
He was also raised by his father, grandparents and great grandmother.
Charles is to blame for Diana's death! If he had been faithful to her they would have never divorced. William is so right about Charles hating how everyone loved Diana and took the attention away from him. So proud of William for confronting Charles on his part in this.
It’s Netflix. You do know this never happened? It’s fake 🤦♀️

And she encourages him not to either. She’s got a sense of duty (unlike Meghan, and she’s far more successful at her longterm task), but she’s not bogged down like the heavy Scorpio that Charles is.

His intentions were calculated, devious, yet he knew she had to be innocent. Charles and Camilla disgust me. His charity works, etc. evaporate in light of his lifetime of self centeredness.
So everyone's against arranged marriages, unless we're talking about Charles.

"Well if you want to make that connection that's your right" nah don't go gaslighting your son like that m8
Charles definitely did plan something in Diana's death
This is the William that I missed.
Did the crown cover the fact that Charles and Diana were good friends in the year that she died, and that he had invited her to balmoral that summer and she had accepted? She was due to go there after the Paris trip.
….or did they make up their own version of events?
Did you miss the part WHERE HE SAID THEY HAD JUST PATCHED UP THEIR RELAITONSHIP?
She should have gone there instead of Sardinia and Paris. Balmoral bored her and she ruined it for everyone else.

@@mitchminer2031 Nah, most people got over it and moved on.
Blame Diana for alerting them. Blame Henri Paul for taking money from them.
It’s unreasonable not to think she was murdered in a fake car accident when Diana predicted it and he did them marry horse faced Camilla! 😢
I think William and Harry are both well aware. Something else happened here.
Wasn’t Diana in love with a heart surgeon? I’ve forgotten his name. She was using Dodi to make him jealous or something.
Hasnat Khan.
Charles has always been a selfish, weak little man but what is not often reported is that at the time of her death Charles and Diana were on good terms and they often had tea together.and attended events at their children’s school together.
The fact that Charles yearned for Camila while married to Diana sickens me.
Diana sickens me, to this day.
People should remember that this is a script. Regardless of what we feel or believe, this conversation comes from the mind of a script writer who's goal is to titillate and entertain.
True but he wrote what every Brit to whom I have ever spoken has said. That also applies to non-Brits; in fact I don’t know anyone who doesn’t feel that way
I always felt it's just made up story the car accident the drunk driver. I totally agree with William ,i always felt like this how William felt . I feel sooo sad for her death . I wish she would have been alive so that I could see her charm her greatness.
The French start drinking at 12.
Celebrities die in the same ways as "normal" people. Especially when they are foolish and irresponsible, and do not choose their companions carefully.
I would bet this is how William handled this conversation. William is his mother's son but has the power to be king one day and Harry and Meghan will shutter by what he will do.
I know this is a series, but shhhhhhhoot if this conversation tooked place... **cheff's kiss** We all know William is just the correct one to let Charles HAVE IT! Very satisfaying to think this could've happened.
Lets remember this is a tv show
There is more to this issue than they are saying they are holding back on a lot more stuff and not letting the public know the truth about Diane princess of Wales what really happened.
She died because Martin Bashir LIED to her & told her that everyone she trusted was complicit with Charles in order to get the panorama interview with her. IT WAS A LIE. Diana gave up her security as a result. William has come out publicly & blamed Bashir & the BBC. BBC has admitted it. Muhammad Alfyed is responsible for Diana’s death. His driver, his car, his hotel security, his son.
The house of Windsor is very well known for locking up true facts. When Queen Victoria died all the letter she exchanged with John Brown were taken and locked away so that they would never see the light of day.
I know what happend, if you are refering to her death. Princess Diana was assassinated by western Intelligence and I can tell you how.
William was miscast. Real William was hot back in the day
As was Charles (miscast) - this guy is WAY too handsome
I don't Charles would be that deep or concerned for Diana in real life.
Ironically, William ended up just like his father and Harry ended up like his mother.
I sincerely hope this conversation really happened.
... he didn't want to alienate his son for the monarchy ... image ... besides he still had camilla ...
This scene is so powerful.
His mother died because she did not bother to wear a seat belt in full knowledge that her car would be chased by a bevy of paparazzi.
What planet are you on? She predicted the exact manner of her death then he did marry canilla and he could not remarry until she was dead duh
Wrong. Princess Diana did wear a seatbelt and the legitimate paparazzi did not cause the crash. The illegitimate did. The real paparazzi were not in the Alma tunnel, at the time of the crash at 00:23. They first arrived at. 00:25, according to their own Independent statements to the Brigade Criminelle. And according to witness Eric Petel. So now the french had to invent a knew narrative. The driver Henry Paul was drunk. This was in all newspapers around the world BEFORE any toxicological tests / investigations were executed. “Drunk as a Pig”. No he wasnt. How dies someone with a BAC of 1,87% in combination with a Carbon monoxide level of 20.8%, drive a Mercedes? Henry Paul would be unconscious. Where did the Carbon monoxide come from? Henry Paul died on impact. Mercedes were never allowed to examine the car.
It was found that Dianas seat belted didn't work.
@@MarciaDurkeethat seems suspicious to me.
@@YSBAJDPN
Diana said that (via one of her charlatan "psychics") that she would be killed in HER car, that the brakes would be cut and that would leave Prince Charles free to marry Tiggy Legg-Bourke.
That is hardly what happened.
Complete fiction. This is a drama not real life
The truth is probably worse.
I'm loving reading these comments. Especially those who say that things like this particular scene never happened. Wow, it must be great having been there w/the REAL William and Charles. What are they like in real life? Who knows whether or not this conversation actually took place. It probably is creative licensing by the show, but who actually knows. Oh yeah I forgot, those who were actually there. Honestly, I would love for it to have been true because calling her "The Other One" right to his face is priceless. But since I wasn't anywhere near the Royal family, I don't know one way or the other. But apparently there are some here who do and I thank you for the end of the week laugh.
