Lilly Direct can't even fill my prescription. It was irresponsible for Lilly and the FDA to abruptly cut people off from their medication when a replacement wasn't readily available.
My PCP would not prescribe GLP1. My ins doesnt cover it and the in house pharmacy (more than likely) wouldnt be able to get it. I went the telehealth route like so many others. I just started in the middle of August so Im very new to this. I do have several months supply in my fridge but I need to think beyond that. I found a compounding pharmacy in CA, where I live. Ive also contacted a few doctors I know, to see if they will help me. I do appreciate you keeping us updated on whats happening with the lawsuit. Your patients are lucky to have you.
Yeah, I think Eli Lilly is falsely stating the shortage is over -- to stop competition from compounding pharmacies. The FDA should have been more diligent in determining the factual situation. BTW, I've listened to experts on the subject and their opinion is that adding a B vitamin, or changing the dosage schedule, is not sufficient to get around patent infringement.
This issue has a resolution. The resolution is to give EVERYONE on compound a prescription for Zepbound and send them to a drug store. Lily would not be able to fulfill the prescriptions! The demand would far exceed the supply! The shortage would have to be reinstated.
It's definitely crazy to rip a drug off the market with not other options... Me and my husband both take it. We bulk ordered but hopefully it goes back on the FDA shortage for those who did see this coming.
What a beautiful lady. Not being weird. I’m gay and married but this doctor has that understated knock-out beauty. No crazy fake lashes or too much makeup. This is beauty without overdoing it.
For me it is more about the fact that my insurance will not cover GLP-1s and I can't afford them at full price. The compound has been a godsend because I have been able to get my medication at a price that I can afford.
I think this is a very smart lawsuit. This will buy us the most time. It takes Lilly out of it and forces the FDA to prove that they acted appropriately.
Thank you. Customizable doses seem like a possible work around. My dosage should remain a decision between my doctor and I. Lilly can’t dictate to physicians how to practice medicine. And the pharmacy is just going to fill a customized order. So who is Lilly going to sue? Neither is breaking the law in that case. Unless there’s something I’m not seeing. I think there is a percentage of difference the dosage has to be for it to be legitimately compounded without patent infringement. Like at least 10% different than any commercially available dose. Not sure 10% is the right number tho.
It shouldn't take much to call a formula 'a new version'. If I want to call a cake recipe 'new or my own', my instructions can say, "Bake at 360 degrees for 5 minutes, then lower the heat to 350 degrees...' That way, I'm not exactly copying someone else's. I would think that adding a vitamin or two (along with a reasonable reason for it) might be enough. Thanks!
How long should compound pharmacies be using China tirzepatide to escape the Lilly patented? The ones whom invented and brought to market the amino acid chain they invented.. how long should compound pharmacies be making bank off Lillys Tirzepatide?
My theory is that the China manufacturers are supplying EliLilly and the compounding pharmacies. I think the active pharmaceutical ingredient is all coming from the same source and goes to EliLilly to be placed in their beautifully packaged pens and to compounding pharmacies that put them in simple syringes. This is why there is such a great cost difference.
Thanks for discussing this - there aren’t enough reputable doctors involved in this conversation
I have enjoyed hearing your perspectives as patients as well. Your content is excellent! Keep up the good work.
@@ChristyRisingerMD Thanks - we would love to have you on the channel to chat!
@@thedownsized I would love that too! I am hoping to join the live chat this Thursday at 7 pm
yup, still can't fill my 7.5mg Zepbound at my walmart pharmacy. I have reported it in the FDA shortage list website.
Had a zepbound rx called in today to CVS and they texted me that my Dr needs to find an alternative medication. Shortage is still very real.

Thank you so much for the update!
Thank you for advocating for us! 😊
I just took my last shot and my prescription has been with the pharmacy since 09/22 and nothing. Im trying to get some compound to hold me over.

My compounding pharmacy is FDA approved. Hopefully that's safe enough. 🙏

Can't find mj anywhere in Kansas city..they lied
I feel completely wiped out on 25 mg weekly.
And depressed! Why?
The doses only go up to 15 mg.
I am assuming you are not beholding to corporate medicine because most health care staff frown on compounding pharmacies!
I do not work for any drug company or compounding pharmacy. Just a doctor trying to do the right thing.
