Didn't think Norrie had it in him to beat Alex, particularly given Cam's not had a great 2023, and De Minaur beat Nadal last year in this tournament, 7-5 in the third set. Well done to Cam Norrie!
@@chriskirk2738 everyone was beating Nadal at that time. Norrie has a single win inside the Top 50 since March 2023 before this match. And that was Baez 44.
I was at this game last night. 😊 first time watching Norrie play live. Always thought he had a strange looking two handed backhand. On camera it looks like he’s just pushing or guiding the ball with no pace. But when watching it Live, it looked like a bullet ! Too bad we can’t get more court-level footage as you can really appreciate the speed and power these guys hit.
wtf why does everyone hate norrie??? i swwear if it was from that djokovic incident... norrie actually played good, the best hes played since against rublev in indian wells.
Is a fact, couch potato tennis fans are so one eyed. Norrie’s game isnt eye appealing but he gets it done. Tennis is all preference but at the end of the day getting it done is what puts food on the table
Norrie is a better player than De Minaur imho, but he should represent New Zealand not England. Apart from that maybe he's a bit mechanical in his style also losing him popularity points as well? I'd guess both factors work against him, but still a useful player when in form.
Great play by Norrie. He is tied with Medvedev for the title of most awkward looking player on the tour, but somehow puts it together and grinds through matches.
Players at this level can hit 220 km/h aces to serve box, but how come here they fail to deliver smash winners when a) hitting from inside the court, and b) to full court available to them? Times 0:17 and 0:30 .
ball is falling quickly on an overhead, on a serve toss the ball is either at its apex or falling slowly when struck. Makes timing an overhead more difficult, but I do agree that some of these guys have pansy overheads compared to their other strokes.
norrie was forced to not hit an overhead otherwises he wouldve made contact on the other side. de minaur couldve won that point with the overhead from a very risky smash, considering norries court positioning
Norrie is a great talent. He beat Alcaraz last year in a clay 500 final. I think it was Rio. But he isn't consistent. He plays well in the first few months and then completely disappears.
I hate to say, but I agree with this take 😅 Norrie is a solid player but he’s kind of an asshole and just annoying overall, so I always root against him
@Teddy_Gautier I didn't even mean it on a personal dislike. I'm just saying if this match up happened before the end of the tour, the outcome would have been an easy 2-0 for DM. Still, when he walked the second set with back to back breaks, I expected a straightforward W from there. The fact it even got to a tiebreak is ridiculous
See I don't get this. It's still 2023 and everything is starting again. Is it any wonder the players say the season is too long? If it weren't, events like this wouldn't have to happen so soon
Welcome back tennis fans 🤠
Cam Norrie is that guy who plays unreal tennis for like 2 months at the beginning of the season and then disappears without a trace!
So true
He's still done well enough throughout the year to be ranked no. 18.

De Minaur will never ever change, always loosing those tight games, Dimitrov last year, Garin at Wimbledon 2022, he will never have a solid mental.

For most shots that De Minaur hits it's like he is not moving his momentum forward but more to the side.
De Minaur, choking again 😢 come on man
