Child psychiatrist sentenced 40 years for using AI to create child porn & sexual exploitation

- A child psychiatrist in Charlotte was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison followed by 30 years of supervised release for the sexual exploitation of a minor and using artificial intelligence (AI) to create child pornography images of minors. David Tatum, 41, was also ordered to pay restitution in an amount to be determined within 90 days, a $100 special assessment per count of conviction and a special assessment totaling $99,000 under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act (AVAA). After he is released from prison, Tatum will also be required to register with the Sex Offender Registry Board in any state or jurisdiction where he works or resides. According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, between 2016 and 2021, Tatum possessed images and videos of child pornography. In or about July 2016, Tatum secretly recorded a minor while the minor was undressing and showering. A forensic analysis of electronic devices revealed that Tatum produced the video of the minor and possessed it, along with other images and videos of child pornography. According to trial evidence, Tatum made similar recordings of others, including of his patient during an outpatient visit who had just turned 18 years old five days before the recording.
Trial evidence established that Tatum used AI to digitally alter clothed images of minors making them sexually explicit.
On May 4, a federal jury in Charlotte convicted Tatum of one count of production of child pornography, one count of transportation of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
Tatum is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a federal facility. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Justice Department. @@natwhite1679 but they literally are designed to look 100% real, in the next few years you won't be able to tell the difference, it should completely be charged as if they were real even if it's AI generated. Also recording videos of the children??? Even if this guy was making fake stuff with AI he was going down a terrible path that would have caused a tragedy in the future, he should be locked up forever

@@natwhite1679 This is also just a sensationalized headline, he must have been sentenced for other things such as recording the children without consent, taking photographs of them... etc. Maybe even distributing some of this material. I'm not sure why you are defending this man, who would want this person free and around kids??? Would you trust your daughter around him?

I read a book about this and the answer is very simple. These creeps always choose professions and jobs where they have access to kids without the parents being there.

he was using real footage of his clients(kids) in addition to AI to make it. taking footage of kids especially in secret is illegal and rightfully so
Putting a child’s real face on porn stars using Ai is pretty disgusting and unacceptable as well as secretly recording them. It definitely calls for prison time.

He used real kids to make it, though. The kids he based it on were real kids that he had as patients, secretly recorded to feed to the AI. I don't know if he otherwise would have gotten arrested for it if he'd only used pencil crayons and his imagination, although it is absolutely scummy to do and he probably should be away in any case, and not working with kids.
