its a shame the car that led most of the race was penalized so severly, robbing the fans of an exciting finish....but having said that, i love this race, there is nothing like it in the world, thankyou for posting it, and thankyou to the commentators for being so attentive the whole time

There's a lot of complaints about commentary missing things....who cares? You and I noticed it. Do we need someone to always explain what we are SEEING? Enjoy free, high quality, video of racing.
That's really a good point. I don't think I've posted a complaint, but I have felt annoyed by them missing things. You're right though. Thanks for pointing that out. I can take it further, I think. When I see something that they miss, I can feel proud as a new fan that I'm getting better at spotting things. It's also important IMO to remember these are radio broadcasts synchronized to the international video stream.
They are primarily doing a radio show, and they have a lot of screens to monitor (there are videos of Hindy et al calling races here on YT), only one of which is the video that we see. I thought about that when I noticed that they often seem to react well after the fact to incidents we see on the video feed. Sometimes they do miss things altogether, but mostly I see them reacting after the fact. I think they are trying to keep a flow of commentary going at a good pace and letting each other finish their sentences before reacting. A radio audience wouldn't know the difference. I've thought about it throughout this race, and they are really good filling time with commentary. The one thing you can't have on radio is silence. I imagine that's a real challenge.
I approve of the switch to David Addison and Matt James on commentary. Guys who actually watch the race going on! Just miss Trusswell for the stats.
Your commentator we really need is John Watson talk about experience as an actual racing driver at the highest level that's what we really need for the commentary

Seriously you guys dont' remember what happened to the #31 Porsche? Once again that's because you were doing the Hourly update while it was limping in with a Right Rear puncture which also damaged the wheel arch. The reason for the extra 20 seconds in the pits was for the Taping up of the wheel arch. Now you guys have already forgotten and think it was a gearbox problem. With all of your experience and knowledge about racing, teams, different drivers, etc. you sure do miss a whole lot about what's actually going on in the actual race itself.

During the Hourly updates. Are you not allowed to pause the update when something big happens on Track, such as the 2nd Place Porsche getting a puncture and losing at least two positions?

For all of the knowledge that is supposed to exist with these announcers, they sure miss a lot on screen. Take for example the #35 Hyundai that was limping along before it came to a stop on the track. They kept calling it a "puncture" when it was obvious from the first time it went by the camera slowly that the entire front right wheel was missing on the car. It's also obvious by the shot of it sitting on the track that the left rear wheel is off the ground while the front right corner is sitting on the track. That's because it's missing the front right wheel. Keep up people!
But YOU saw it. So does it matter if the commentators did?

To further my reply to Stephen Brown which I hope you will read; around 1 hour 30 minutes you can hear the commentators from RLM in the background which again, says to me that the version you are seeing is an overdub of the original broadcast, not done live.
@@thomasconley3429 Well only RLM commentated the race and it wouldn't make anysense to dub it. They were most likely doing the nights shift as the RLM crew were off getting some sleep.
@@Maenfy RLM did the full 24 hours.
@@agentcrm Yeah sorry I was a bit confussed there, doesn't change the fact the audio isn't overdubbed.
@@Maenfy RLM is a 24h radio broadcast done live, not after the fact, and it's broadcast live simultaneously with the international video feed. (If it was overdubbed, I think they would have done a better job covering all the action and not missing incidents.) I'm guessing there was a technical glitch during the silence and the different commentary, and I wonder if the different commentary was synchronized after the fact as a way to make this video work. I suspect that's why this video was delayed - they needed time in post-production to get some commentary to cover most of the silence from whatever glitch they had with the RSL audio.

What's with the change in commentary teams in the first 90 minute?
I guess one team was there for the night while the other guys were sleeping, that's like a common routine for 24h commentators.

They had the fastest car and amazing drivers, but one mistake... For a while I thought they were going to come back and win anyway.
How I wish that the whole race was available with commentary from David Addison & co. who are actually covering the race, instead of the bunch from RLM who, with all due respect, seem far more fixated on irrelevant chit-chat and hourly positional updates than actual on track action and incidents.

The Yellow Flag infringment that they are referring to with the #911 Porshce happened on Sunday when there was a brand new incident that happened (I don't recall which car it was) but a Safety vehicle had just gotten to the site when the #911 Porsche came up on the location and there was a slower car that had already slowed down, #911 passed that slower car basically right as they were passing the incident on the left side of the track. It was unclear if there were any yellow flags posted at the time this happened.
It was unclear from the helicopter footage, but most likely clear from the onboard cam footage, which we didn't see. Also, the fact that the 2 cars in front of him had already slowed down is strong evidence (not proof) that the flags were visible to them.

A mi se me hizo injusta la penalización de 5 minutos, no era para tanto, quizá unos 3 minutos, pero no tanto
Why are you not mentioning that they had to bring a stretcher out for the driver (unidentified yet as I watch) that has gone over the barrier and landed on it's roof. I only pray he didn't strick the top of the barrier with the roof of the car where is head might have been forced down as a result. C'mon guys, do a better job.
I don't think they were getting any more information from the team, and yes, I'm sure he hit the barrier upside-down, but the survival cell was intact. That stretcher (backboard) might have been standard for that kind of extrication. Later they mentioned that both drivers walked away, but I don't know what that's based on. The extrication took a long time.

No,, #29 and # 4 are no longer on the same pit strategy, #29 was behind #4 but came into the pits first. He did a 7 lap stint before coming in, most likely to get a shorter pit stop to help make up the gap to the #4 as well as prevent from being passed again by the Mercedes that hit him earler and drove him off the track into the grass. PAY ATTENTION.

Again with more "blah, blah, blah" talking about next to nothing while there is a race going on between the two Audi drivers (#29, #4) and the Porsche driver in #30 with a real battle. It would seem you guys aren't even paying attention. HELLO!! There is (was) an actual race happening.

#74 BMW Driving with it's hood slammed up against it's windshield wasn't very smart at all. Obviously he wasn't able to see Anything in front of him. He could have caused one, two or three wrecks easily weaving back and forth from side to side on the track. It would have been smart to just pull the car off on the grass and wait for a marshal to come over and put the hood back down and secure it. Now he has wrecked the front end, the hood will no longer secure and he is going to lose major time at very least if not be out of the race completely.
Yes, that's all true, but one of my favorite moments in the entire race was when they showed the mechanics laughing about it. You never see mechanics laughing about a bent car, but that was such a ridiculous crash. I think the crazy gaff tape job they did showed their sense of humor.
