From what I have read in various sources then and now, the issue was not Vijay Anand pushing Nasir Hussein to take RD Burman in place of Shanker Jaikishen due to schedule problems, but SJ's payment problems with Nasir Hussain over Jab Pyaar Kisi se hota hai dues. It is said that at that time in dummy words used in song rehearsals SJ would often have words extolling Nasir Hussain to clear their dues. Vijay Anand had a very good working relation with SJ and he has praised them for their hard work, stickler to time and schedules as well as always immediately coming up with alternate tunes. This is on record in his biography , despite the fact the only film they worked on Kahin Aur Chal was not commercially released and the crew remained unpaid. In fact the dance number Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyaar Ki Charche (Brahmachari) was originally recorded for Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hain but not used. It was expected that it would be used in Teesri Manzil with Shanker Jaikishan as composers. But things did not work out so you have a inspired dance number Aaja Aajia in Teesri Manzil.
It was given to understand that Shammi Kapoor told RDB very categorically that he shouldn’t mind if he got checked every song by Jaikishan before final recording but Jaikishan told Shammi politely that it doesn’t look nice. He is an upcoming talented composer you must have faith in RDB.
