After some time at one of his shows he was interrupted by the son of some government official and was punched , abused , and even shoved on stage . When the police was called they in fear for arresting a government officers son , arrested the comedian and he was jailed for 3 months for hurting religious beliefs which charge was later dropped because freedom of speech and the abusers were free of any action against them. After he was released he put out a video titled "Munawar faruqui leaving comedy???" In which he said that his only goal in life is to make people laugh by comedy he won't leave no matter what it cost him as he won't regret being in jail for making people laugh and he will never leave comedy as its the only thing that he knows to do.

In gujarat when muslims burnt alive many hindus inside train coming from ayodhya(birth place of lord Ram) which started the ayodhya riot.. this comdian was making joke of it that whats the issue anyway hindu are burnt after they die! And he being the muslim himself was hurtful ..and then he made jokes on lord Ram and hi wife sita. you can make a joke but its too insensitive now.. why dont he start by making a joke on allah and quran.. you know why ?? Because he will be beheaded. And by the way iam a seedhe maut fan but here i think they were ignorant.
