Man...that last attack. So powerful it turned the stage into an Ouendan finale.
Using the Genion really feels like you have access to a Final Boss unit.
You sortie in the regular Genion. If your enemies drop it's HP, you just go into a Super Mode and regain all your HP/EN
If they drop your HP again, you just go into a FINAL Mode and regain all your HP/EN AGAIN.
I think this may be my new favorite OG mech just for that alone.

I really like the fact Z originals gets more love than the ones in the recent games *coughs Huckebein30th also fun fact Geminion Ray is supposed to be Chaos Lemures (Z1 final boss) more refined version
I still remember how everyone complained when Z3 cut corners for many units, which made sense considering how great OG 2nd's animation was. Fast forward and SRW's animation quality keeps dropping with every iteration, even for OG units, which is something you'd never think of back then. It's a sad reality and we probably will never go back to the glory days.

@@Zephyrs009 Nah, the GranVang was literally frame-starved. It would have been a lot better if they added more in-between frames of it moving around but then again, budget's restriction really showed. For the Tyranado they didn't even try until the upgrade, which had more animation but most attacks were just one or two key poses with the unit's sprite barely moved, while the beam animations were done as quickly as possible to cut corner. VangNex and Xelguard were the only ones with decent animations.

I do love the Shura Gods as well Gunleon, but this Original shines over them. Omg.
I find it funny how the mech started out as a real robot and then start to begin to look more and more like a super robot

It has a very Granzon-esque vibe and I loved every bit of it.

Looking back at this, a clear prove they can actually make great animation in the current game engine.
This unit gives me manly tears. Start to finish I love this thing.
Actually it feel more like a combination of the Shura God mech, the Kouryukooh and God Gundam more than Raiser.
1:06 - looks like Shura God's Souharyu
2:09 - God Gundam's Heat END!
And the last attack seems like a combination of the Ex Machina and Kouryukooh's Javelin stab.
Don't forget the teleporting in 0:58 and 1:03, as well as the spherical weapon used at 2:07-2:12 being Granzon references, making this one the Neo Granzon to Genion GAI's Granzon.
I feel like theres some soulgain in there as well.

Swordrevolver79 If I had to guess, it's because the OG mechs are own by the company; unlike others that come from other companies.
Swordrevolver79 Apparently you haven't seen the insultingly bad animation on Virgola Glory S. They made it excessively fast to hide the fact that it actually isn't really animated at all. It's lower quality than the FMP stuff.
+Swordrevolver79 I wouldn't hold much hope for Z mecha in the OG timeline. Z is the past of the OG world (like how Asakim reincarnated into Masaki) so all these mecha would likely be 100+ years old by OG-verse...
So even if we did get the mecha in the story, all their pilots would be long dead. Even Asakim is. (Shurouga and Cybuster in the same timeline would be a time paradox.)
@@DeltaSilver88 wait I thought the opposite. All these years I thought that OG came first and years later Z came, since they stated that Shurouga was Shu's first work but he failed and then Cybuster was his finest.

Though I also discovered more proof for why Z couldn't be in OG. It appears people with the Wanderer's Curse (like Asakim) can't enter a world where a version of them already exists. If Asakim and Masaki are the same person, they can't coexist in the OG world (one would have to die for the other to show up).

Considering that I'm pretty sure this is the first OG mech that can literally go 'This isn't even my Final Form!' on your enemies, that's actually a pretty apt comparison.

ArcmageZaln There's also the fact that the profits from this game coming to the United States would hardly merit the work of translating everything and like ZengarZanvolt said, the liscensing costs. In America (I cannot speak for the rest of the world), Strategy RPGs and Robots as a genre are a niche market compared to more basic RPGs, Shooter games, MMOs, etc.

Awesome mech, superb animation, and epic theme song. Sadly it was wasted on possibly one of the worst character that Bamco/Banpresto have ever been created. should have been better if they either bring back Uther as a or making Gadlight as the protagonist and piloting this mech.

That in and of itself isn't anything special- everybody has them, hence Hibiki's line when he fights the Twins' Neo Reactor: "Being the Quarreling Twins' reactor isn't anything special... that's why they're the sphere's center." The curse of the Quarreling Twins is getting caught between the two, and not being able to move forward as a result. This is what Gadlight wasn't able to overcome, leading to a life of drinking while never actually doing anything about his problems. In Hibiki's case, it's why he goes comatose when he's caught between hope and despair, because he's so overwhelmed by it that his sense of self collapses in on itself.
He overcomes it though, and once he reconciles the two emotions and moves past them, he truly awakens to the power of the Quarreling Twins. Hibiki's whole development as a character is about not letting yourself get dragged down by despair, but also not blindly hoping that things will get better without action. He moves forward, even in the face of an impossible despair, under his own power- that's what makes Hibiki Kamishiro a fun protagonist in my opinion. He might not be as manly as The Heat, he might not have the story that Setsuko had, and he might not have the sheer force of personality that made Crowe great, but he's certainly tenacious. He never really gives up and with the support of Z-Blue, always finds it in himself to keep moving forward. He's the underdog, and I can't help but cheer for him.
pigifi Thanks for that post, for that's something I like about the character. For me, character development is what I look forward to the most when it comes to character(s).
You know up till now, i still have no idea about 2 things.
1. what purpose does suzune serve in the geminion? I mean the genion works perfectly fine being solo piloted by hibiki when she went off to the dark side.
2. How does the cockpit evolve/change from genion to gai to ray.
bkteer well the genion and genion gai actually lose their finishers the moment suzune disappears. of course when you regain er 'at thiat point you already have geminion ray' not only are the genion's old finishers reacquired *save for grief banisher' but the geminion unlocks the over raiser arc.... iirc
2. cockpit probably looks the same. genion to gai mode is basically genion reconfiguring itself *accel glacves becoming wings, parts of the back pods turning into leg armor, etc to resemble geminia more closely* as for gai to ray..... well. at that point i think hibiki gains full use of his sphere. *similar case with gunleon magna's form being tied to the woubned lion i think
bkteer Major Spoilers: Suzune is the intended pilot of the Genion who has a hidden split personality called Ambriel. Hibiki accidentally touched the pilot registration system when it was sent nearby Jindai High in Jigoku-Hen therefore making him the pilot instead of her. Suzune later becomes Genion's copilot and she controls the remote weapon functions. At some point Barbiel infected her with a toxin that amplifies all negative emotion and causes her split personality to emerge, she then betrayed Z-BLUE and joined Sidereal until Hibiki snapped her out of it and both personalities merge.

Tie up loose ends. He did die saying (warning, this translation won't be 100% accurate): "It was...my...pleasure...As for why, you are...my..." so they had to bring him back to explain this

Short version: If you play rengoku hen, reading certain speeches that some of the original main chars have with him and you will realise 2 Major things.
1. He looks a lot like asakim.
2. His mech has the ability to hold a sphere.
Now his death in jigoku hen makes it seem a lot like it was faked so as to make the sphere transfer over to hibiki in his grand schemes of things.
MAJOR SPOILERS: He's the end game boss of tengoku hen.
