It's more so they only fight extremely rarely for mating, even then they avoid all injuries as possible. Even a slight injury is death in the artic as the opportunity to hunt is much rarer. Hence why grizzlies are more agressive as the abundance of food means fighting over territory is less of a death sentence.
@@tylerrobbins8311 this is what I thought as well. Polar bears have evolved to be more sparing with their energy and aggression while brown bears don't have the same struggle and will fight more freely. Backed into a corner or under the right circumstances, sure, the polar bear probably win due to strength, but odds are the brown bear will chase it off or the polar bear will flee after injury while the brown bear will not.
This shows how aggressive the grizzly is and even though the polar bear is bigger and would win, it is afraid because of the aggression. This is why you always fight back when a human tries to hurt you.
If you watch the original video, you will see this is a small 300 pound female mountain grizzly, the smallest sub-species of brown bear, chasing THREE 900 pound rather large male polar bears away from a whale carcass. The mountain grizzly, and the Himalayan brown bear, are the two smallest sub-species of brown bear. The Kamchatka, Ussuri, and Peninsula Grizzly are very close to polar bear size, and Kodiak bears are equal to even bigger depending on the source. Some say polar bears, some say kodiak, most say they are tied for biggest bear and land predator. If a 300 pound female mountain grizzly can chase 3 male 900 pound polar bears, imagine what a an alpha male Kamchatka, Ussuri, Peninsula grizzly, or especially a Kodiak bear could do??
A polar bear has more fight coz food is hard to find in its reasons so yeah the fight in the bear also goes to the polar bear which gives the dizzy no hope

I won't say win but make the Polar Bear retreat, Due to the polar bear not wanting major injuries because it still wants to hunt it's other prey, With a good amount of energy Polar Bears are more aggressive than Grizzly's but avoid them a lot so they don't get major injuries that will drain their energy, That's the main reason they retreat half of the time but if they absolutely have to fight they'll make the Grizzly Bear think twice, Polar Bears are more aggressive Grizzly's are quicker to release their aggression.
@@thecdc1738 in the case of facing off against a grizzly bear yes they will back down they have been known to back down there is recordings of them backing down. As a Polar Bear, I can confirm that we have indeed crossed paths with Grizzly Bears, and we usually get along. The rare instance comes up, though, where we don't. I'm friends with one and he is cool.
I got $100 on the polar bear, if they fight to the death. Just look at the size of the polar bear when he is next to the grizzly, easily heavier by 200 to 300 pounds, and the polar has longer arms and legs, teeth are larger and his claws are larger, no doubt the polar bear is king of the bears.
They do occasionally fight and the grizzly wins almost always. The polar bear is not going to risk injury as much as the grizzly. The grizzly is more aggressive and has sharper and longer claws.
@@Whenempirescrumble Polar bear is more aggressive and definitely bigger on size and weight. The polar bear loses because it’s lacking food on the north and not in shape to fight down south
Apex predators also have to sometimes avoid risking injuries so it’s not a matter of being afraid of the other bear its survival is determined by health in a remote area
It’s worth remembering that polar bears are basically just brown bears that over time ventured further and further north until they eventually evolved into their own species. One of the most common adaptations to the cold is to get bigger, which they did!
Most Polar bears usually lose in these situations. Mostly due their fatigue and malnutrition. Even though the Polar is bigger Grizzlies are probably way more adept at fighting because of population size. They're way more Grizzlies than Polars so Grizzlies would be fighting amongst themselves more often than Polars do. Plus Grizzlies are like hype aggressive. Not saying that Polars aren't, they just not on the Grizzlies level. Of course sometimes there are a few anomalies where the Polar actually comes out on top.
Also I imagine there's more "competition" to deal with for Grizzlies than Polar bears, Polars have to deal with wolves and other Polars at worst but Grizzlies got wolves, Wolverines, pumas, black bears, Kodiak bears, Brown bears and depending where Alligators
This is basically which one wants it more. The polar bear has the size advantage but the grizzly has longer claws a bit more bite force and is much more fierce than the polar bear. This is why you see the polar bear back down.
Polar Bears are huge but a specialized predator, their claws are designed to run on ice, they have more fat and less muscle, long necks, and are not used to fighting other Bears like the more aggressive Grizzly is. It’s like a Pitbull and a ST Bernard.
Polar bears have a size advantage. When it comes to fighting, the viscousness and aggression from grizzlies is unmatched. Polar bears are not as aggressive.
Polar bears fight for their lives everyday in the most harsh conditions ,making a much better predator all around Grizzly bears live in bear utopia ,with food everywhere Polar bears are the strongest bears Its a simple fact
Studies have shown that polar bears submit to grizz even if they are larger. Some might be surprised that the grizz is actually significantly stronger. While the polar bear has a stronger bite force. Grizzlies are just savages and extremely powerful and aggressive.
"Studies have shown that polar bears submit to grizz even if they are larger." - which says nothing about a physical altercation "Some might be surprised that the grizz is actually significantly stronger." - substantiate your claim
@@Dr.Ian-Plect you think a polar bear would let another animal push it off its kill just for funsies? In a world where calories are life and death? It says everything about altercation. It implies that an enough polar bears FAFO and decided it’s not worth it.

@Himdorya you really have no idea what you ate talking about. A Polar bear is bigger and heavier, but not stronger or durable. He had less muscle than a grizzly alot more fat for insulation.polard run away from grizzly bears as they are wise enough not to risk their lived by overheating in a fight with a grizzly.
Seeing the spawn of those two animals in the wild is crazy. You can literally see both animals characteristics jammed into one animal, when you see one for the first time you end up staring for a while trying to make sense of what species it is.
It’s a common urban legend: a mother lifts up a car to save her screaming child pinned underneath. And every now and then, this incredible feat of "hysterical strength" seems to really happen. In 2012, Lauren Kornacki, a 22-year-old woman in Glen Allen, Virginia, raised a BMW 525i off her father when the car toppled from a jack. Seven years earlier, a man named Tom Boyle hoisted a Chevy Camaro, freeing a trapped cyclist in Tucson, Arizona. The events don't always involve vehicles, like when Lydia Angyiou went toe-to-toe with a polar bear in northern Quebec to protect her son and his friends while they played hockey.
Just spent the better part of an hour reading up on a study that documented polar bear and grizzly interacitons at a whale carcass feeding site, back in 2007. In fact, this footage might even be sourced from this observation period. During the survey, biologists deposited large whale carcasses along the coast of the Barrier Islands in Alaska; with the express intent of documenting how the two species would interact when forced to feed in close proximity to one another. Though the polar bears outnumbered the grizzlies (As much as 20 + polar bears, to only 2-3 grizzlies, the study documented that the OVERWHELMING majority of agressive itneractions between the two species, occured as Grizzly individuals ran off Polar bear individuals. Usually, the polar bears would be submissive, and retreat from the feeding area (sometmes temporarily, and sometimes permanently)despite the grizzly bear NOT displaying overtly agressive behavior. This indicates polar bears dont even let it get to a fight, before they retreat from grizzly bears. The reasoning behind this could be several: A)Being obligate carnivores, Polar bears simply cannot risk an injury, and so are less willing to fight another bear...whereas grizzlies are omnivorous, and can more readily sustain injuries without it affecting their nutritional needs. B) Grizzlies evolved in the presence of other large pleistosene predators...something polar bears, being so far north, really did not. And this competition has caused grizzlies to develope much more agressive behavior to defend themselves. C) Grizzlies, who lack the polar bears marine abilities, might see whale corpses as a delicacy that is quite rare...and so are much more willing to defend their claim against polar bears...who are less inclined to fight for it, as polar bears are quite adept at marine hunting, and can enjoy other nutritionally rich prey, at their leisure.
No, it could be completely completely even depending on size anyways. Kodiak grizzly, bear bear most of them are bigger than a polar bear. That’s not a Kodiak grizzly.

i just found out polar bears probably arent as used to conflict as i thought because most creatures see the size and are like nope but grizzlies bears surprise the polar bear by not being scared
Only thing surprising about this clip is that the Polar bear was close enough for the grizzly to feel the need to threaten it. Usually if there's even a scent of a grizzly around polar bears won't come near. They've done studies where they've sprayed grizzly scent near a pack of polar bears feeding at a kill and they all flee immediately.
Not only polar bears are bigger and more agressive but they are also adapted only for hunting and are only bear species that is exclusevly carnivore, their claws are not for digging and climbing like those of brown bears but are like hooks for grabing meaty targets.
Not even just that, but the fastest grizzlies are like 10mph faster than polar bears and have way more stamina, and are more aggressive. Literally polar bears are bigger but the two species have different personality. Polar bears are closer to Black bears. Male brown bears however fears nothing. And if food is involved they will have their way most of the time.
@victors151 Grizzlies nor black bears get owned by pumas. Any of those clips you've seen on RUclips of a puma "owning" any bear comes from episodes of an old, STAGED TV series from the 80s called "Wild America" with Marty Stouffer where the animals are not even actually wild. None of that you saw was real. I bet you didn't even know that... There is no real video of a cougar owning any bear. But there are real videos of cougar retreating from bears.... And there has NEVER been a case where where a tiger has successfully hunted an killed a fully grown male brown bear so wtf are tallking about? Tigers even avoid the adult males. You've seen tigers bully sloth bears but never a brown bear. Don't feed into that BS tiger kills brown bear hype, especially considering the fact that's there is no evidence. [Edit] And another thing no one is fan boying. All I did was state FACTS. And BTW if you do happen to go on RUclips, you'll see that grizzlies tend to dominate polar bears at kills more often than the other way around whenever they meet. I know that's not what you wanna hear but it's true...
actually polar are just bigger but grizzly have more stronger muscles than polar and more speed on land and more aggression.. That's thy zoologist and wild life sensors say that grizzly wins over polar. When when it comes to Kodiak then Kodiak just slightly smaller to polar in height but are way massive then polar and they are twice to all that grizzly has. Making Kodiak the strongest bear who can outrun and outmatch all species of bear then comes grizzly then polar.
Polar Bears are way stronger, the musculature, weight and strength and their paws are bigger. Size and weight are documents in the animal kingdom and are what determine an animal's physical strength. Kodiak is not stronger or bigger than a Polar Bear, just fatter. Polar Bear is above Kodiak and Kodiak is above Grizzly. Also, Polar Bear has more strength in their arms because they are longer. Where did you get the idea that Kodiak and Grizzly are stronger than polar bears? Even professionals know that the most lethal bear species is the Polar Bear. In the video, the polar bear only retreated because he was not prepared for the grizzly's aggression. In a fight to the death, the Polar Bear would win. It gained a great advantage by moving to colder climates.

Polar Bear:That's one odd looking seal. If i tried, i could eat it..
Grizzly bear:IM A BEAR DUMB ASS!
Polar bear:WAIT STOP I WAS JOKIN-
Apparently grizzly can hold their own against polar bears. Very aggressive and fearless
This was the moment where polar bear realized that he messed with the wrong animal.
Grizzly bears are far more aggressive, polar bears are bigger but they just don't want the smoke
It's more so they only fight extremely rarely for mating, even then they avoid all injuries as possible. Even a slight injury is death in the artic as the opportunity to hunt is much rarer. Hence why grizzlies are more agressive as the abundance of food means fighting over territory is less of a death sentence.
Not necessarily true
@@tylerrobbins8311 this is what I thought as well. Polar bears have evolved to be more sparing with their energy and aggression while brown bears don't have the same struggle and will fight more freely. Backed into a corner or under the right circumstances, sure, the polar bear probably win due to strength, but odds are the brown bear will chase it off or the polar bear will flee after injury while the brown bear will not.
This shows how aggressive the grizzly is and even though the polar bear is bigger and would win, it is afraid because of the aggression. This is why you always fight back when a human tries to hurt you.
The polar bear was like : GAHH!! YOU SCARED THE SH- OUT OF ME! 0:08
It's smaller so it has to be more vicious
the polar bear: "someone come get this regular sized bear"

The male polar bears in this clip are easily 1200lbs, and even that is not 'rather large' for them.
It’s not the size of the bear in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the bear. Team grizzly!!
Unfortunately it's the polar bear all day long!!! Carnivorous & bigger!!!
A polar bear has more fight coz food is hard to find in its reasons so yeah the fight in the bear also goes to the polar bear which gives the dizzy no hope
Гризли более агрессивный и готовый к риску. Но если бы бой всё же произошёл то белый медведь скорее всего выиграл бы. В боях медведей размер имеет значение
I think a lot of people would be surprised to find out the grizzly bear would win most fights.
They’re more built to fight
Not to death but yeah if the polar bear retreats
I won't say win but make the Polar Bear retreat, Due to the polar bear not wanting major injuries because it still wants to hunt it's other prey, With a good amount of energy Polar Bears are more aggressive than Grizzly's but avoid them a lot so they don't get major injuries that will drain their energy, That's the main reason they retreat half of the time but if they absolutely have to fight they'll make the Grizzly Bear think twice, Polar Bears are more aggressive Grizzly's are quicker to release their aggression.
polar bears litterally have to survive and hunt for food they aint backing down
@@thecdc1738 in the case of facing off against a grizzly bear yes they will back down they have been known to back down there is recordings of them backing down. They won't back down if there is actual prey in front of them cuz they are starving to death and they're going to go as hard as they can to get that meal.
As a Polar Bear, I can confirm that we have indeed crossed paths with Grizzly Bears, and we usually get along. The rare instance comes up, though, where we don't. I'm friends with one and he is cool.
Look at the difference in size it’s fucking insane

Actually the Kodiak brown bear is the king of bears as they do get larger than polar bears and have a more muscular build along with larger claws
Have u guys ever heard of Werebear?
Apex predators also have to sometimes avoid risking injuries so it’s not a matter of being afraid of the other bear its survival is determined by health in a remote area
Lol that's just a regular Grizzly too. A Kodiak wouldn't even be a contest, broader head, longer claws, more prone to fighting, better stamina.
Is that a male grizzly bear? Or female

Polar bears are more intelligent then grizzly or brown bears, their more powerful then grizzly but they avoid injuries
More than enough for both! Hope it got worked out.😊
Magnificent creatures but I'm glad I'm not having rotting blubber for dinner tonight
Omg that Grizzly is so cute and round🤩
Intimidation polar bear back off showing the grizzly more aggressive.
For a moment, I thought it wasn't a Polar Bear, but an albino grizzly bear, but it really is a Polar Bear.
They are not fighting. That looks like flirting. Polar and Brown bears can mate
True though not many ppl knw this fact
It’s worth remembering that polar bears are basically just brown bears that over time ventured further and further north until they eventually evolved into their own species. One of the most common adaptations to the cold is to get bigger, which they did!
Except one thing. Polar Bear and brown bear never meet in wild nature 😂😂😂. Try to study more
Polar bear’s like “Aye bro chill. You’re here because I let you be here. Screw this I’m tired, you can have my kill I’m gonna go have a nap”
@@razgriz1ne1ne48Kodiak bears are only found on the Kodiak islands no where else and Kodiak bears are way bigger than the grizzlies.

Grizzly Bears: Warrior Class

Ehh no that's not why it backed down it was bieng an animal and not rising injury and a polar bear has a stroger bite sharper claws
the grizzly wasn't about to be out manned tho that furrousity
I never realized how fucking insanely massive polar bears were😮🤯
Polar Bears are huge but a specialized predator, their claws are designed to run on ice, they have more fat and less muscle, long necks, and are not used to fighting other Bears like the more aggressive Grizzly is. It’s like a Pitbull and a ST Bernard.
EXACTLY. Very well put.
Both are so cute babies 🐻🐻❄🍼
Polar bears have a size advantage. When it comes to fighting, the viscousness and aggression from grizzlies is unmatched. Polar bears are not as aggressive.

Grizzlies and kodiaks have actually been known to give Polars an ass whooping because they're better at fighting and they're more compact and it's better for fighting against a large animal although the polar is larger and more agressive

The polar bear always runs away from the the more powerful, aggressive and durable brown bear. That is a documented scientific fact.
Polar Bear is stronger physically and heavier, it was just caught off guard by the grizzly's aggression.

Ice Bear says panda is dead
Seeing the spawn of those two animals in the wild is crazy. You can literally see both animals characteristics jammed into one animal, when you see one for the first time you end up staring for a while trying to make sense of what species it is.
Sometimes they mate and their offspring are quite pretty. I would hate to bump into to any of these bears, esp polar bears.
Grizzly already eating his catch. Polar may be larger but grizzly would win because it is more ferocious IMHO.
then a honey badger can kill a North American black bear, cause it's more ferocious
Holy shit the size of the polar bear. Finally saw the comparison size. when is part 2 coming out?
What a combination it would be quite the battle not sure the grizz wouldn’t win.
The polar bear would dominate the fight over the grizzly
No, it could be completely completely even depending on size anyways. Kodiak grizzly, bear bear most of them are bigger than a polar bear. That’s not a Kodiak grizzly.
grizzlies chase away polar bears. polar bears are submissive towards grizzlies in the wild. the full length video of this whale carcass encounter is on youtube and shows it

Kodiak or any bear can't be bigger than polar bear.Kodiak bear are second largest but nah polar bear are far bigger than others. You never saw a big male polar bear lol.Otherwise you wouldn't say it. A very big polar bear can reach height of 12 feet if it stands and normally it is 10 feet for males.
We can see that polar bear's fur are dark yellow when he are in dark places with low light.
This proves that his fur is transparent and reflective.
i'm taking the grizzly. even a full grown male polar bears are known to avoid a fight with a smaller mother bear because of the mother's aggression. too much fight in the grizzly for the polar bear to handle
You can tell in the video that the grizzly is a bit more aggressive!
Polar Bear: I should have taken the Coca-Cola commercial instead of this. 😐
Tiger = Polar Bear
Lion = Grizz
In size, yes.
In aggression, it's the opposite.
Polar bear was like "bro dis the north side"
Unfortunately size will not be the factor in fighting a grizzly bear. The grizzly bear will win every time. They are constantly fighting with other grizzlies. The polar bear always avoids conflict. It wants a quick kill for food.
After a few minutes the polar bear is weaker and weaker. The grizzlies can go all day. Huge difference in stamina.
@@justmyopinion1409 absolutely 👍
i heard polar bears only flee what happens when they decide they do in fact want the smoke also people say polar bears aren’t used to conflict they don’t just live in arctic though pretty sure they live in parts of norway and Canada meaning they do in fact come into conflict
@@justmyopinion1409polar bears are not weaker they just arent stupid enough to risk injury cause a injury outside might mean death they are heavier and heavier mostly means bigger attacks although its true grizzlies are smaller and lighter thus meaning they have more stamina
i just found out polar bears probably arent as used to conflict as i thought because most creatures see the size and are like nope but grizzlies bears surprise the polar bear by not being scared
If polar bear was angry he can scare a grizzly
Polar Bears would over heat quickly so it avoids a fight! That doesn’t mean it couldn’t win the fight.
Actually it does. Grizzlies win that fight 95/100
That grizzly has no fear lol
Not only polar bears are bigger and more agressive but they are also adapted only for hunting and are only bear species that is exclusevly carnivore, their claws are not for digging and climbing like those of brown bears but are like hooks for grabing meaty targets.
Polar bear is bigger, but Grizzly has more fight in him. $200 on the Brown one, goes for the throat.
So true, that would be a good battle
They’re more coexisting with each other here than rivaling over a carcass
Grizzly bear: oh white dude
Seems like it!
actually polar are just bigger but grizzly have more stronger muscles than polar and more speed on land and more aggression..
Polar bear is way to big man.
We used to make these 2 old town drunks argue for hours about "Who would win in a fight? A grizzly bear? Or a kodiak brown bear?"
The fight we’ve all been waiting
