Welcome to the next restore. In this video I am tasked with restoring a CENTURY branded speaker that is a sneaky speaker broadcasting a useful radio tool for life. They came to me in a broken state. I have restored them to their original condition perfectly

Should have painted it white instead pf that crappy construction orange i like the white better but you still did an awesome job of restoring it i have a bogen Spt-15a horn and an atlas sound ap15-t horn and they are made of tough metal

4:42 "welding" with a plastic soldering iron is a bad idea. I've done it many times and it gives very poor results, the connection is not strong and breaks easily. You also need to sand, apply the putty, and sand and paint again.
If I do such a thing, it is only because other methods cannot be applied in a given case. A better solution is to clean cracked edges with naphtha. Then you need to apply some adhesive, quick-drying, e.g. Cjanopan. This combination is extremely strong! Then just light polishing and you do not need to paint this tube.
It seems good to me. Is he just used the soldering iron or he applied some kind of glue because the plastic is not melted?

This speaker wasn't originally yellow, you can see from the inside the original color of the plastic, and it was beige

It is very unstable to glue polystyrene with a soldering iron. For polystyrene, there are good and comfortable adhesives based on polyurethane. In extreme cases, cyanoacrylate, but it is too fast.
The soldering iron did not have enough temperature, the solder melted too long, but the plastic next to it deteriorates.
The coil is difficult to center correctly in the gap of the magnet. If it is not positioned correctly, distortion occurs. The sound of the music is difficult to assess the sound quality.

@@olskool7826 yes, has the same effect. I think it's called kolofonia or something like that (in english). It's also used for violins and cellos bows (the more refined one) but works great for soldering.
