If I were SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs fired me over a nickel, I would sell the Kraby Patty secret formula to Plankton and take whatever he offered for it, not because I need it, but just out of spite. Wouldn't that have made for a more interesting episode?
This episode does suck quite a bit of ass, but Patrick is close to, if not at, his original personality; he's supposed to be a lazy idiot, not an immoral sociopath, and he seems to actually care about Spongebob in this episode. Granted, his 'help' doesn't help at all, but it doesn't feel malicious for once.
***** His advice never helped in the beginning, anyway. Look at Tea At The Treedome - He tells Spongebob to put his pinkie up. That's just stupid, and doesn't help. But, it's just him being ignorant. That's only one example, but you get my point.
***** SpongeBob was pretty close to his original character, too. If you forget about what he did in episodes like Choir Boys or Boating Buddies, you'd feel bad for the guy, 'cause that job at the Krusty Krab was more than just a job to him. It was a strong part of him. And in a normal circumstance, people lay people off to save money, not fire them. (It's complicated what the difference is.) SpongeBob didn't do anything to deserve to get fired, and he gets fired for a FUCKING NICKEL. Squidward's character in this episode seems similar to his character in Little Yellow Book.
+Classic Nickelodeon True, but he still was close to his original personality none the less. Just goes to show you, even when you put 2 of the most jarring characters on the show in their original character, it still isn't enough to make a good episode. There was so much more they could've done to make this a better "special". Shows on Nickelodeon used to have a magic touch to them. IDK what happened to them.
Freezeflame22 :P In my opinion, there's more than one "worst episode of SpongeBob". There's a worst in every category:Boating Buddies - Worst Squidward Torture PornOne Coarse Meal - Most sadistic and evil episode everLittle Yellow Book - Worst Squidward's a dick episodeAtlantis Squarepantis - Worst 1/2 hour SpecialStuck in the Wringer - Worst SpongeBob Torture PornThe Splinter - Worst gross out episode everA Pal for Gary - Worst Gary Torture PornOral Report - Worst Boating School episodeThe Card - Worst Patrick's a prick episodeFresh Breath of Squidward - Worst representationSlide Whistling Stooges - Most annoying episode everPat No Pay - Worst Mr. Krabs Torture PornSpongeBob's House Party/Party Pooperpants - Worst pre-movie 1/2 hour specialGood Neighbors - The episode that's known as SpongeBob's dark turnThis - Worst episode production
Alexander Pollock There were things they got right in both of those episodes, though. I can't say I like Dumped, but I can't say I dislike it either. However, Krusty Krushers, I give points because it doesn't actually show SpongeBob and Patrick being in a constant state of pain/misery, thus disqualifying it from being a torture porn. And Mr. Krabs does face consequences for being a selfish asshole in this episode. Also, the "My Leg!!" gag comes back. It was stupid, but it's not the worst.
***** Not continuity in the traditional sense, I'm also talking about how in modern Spongebob, most leave out continuity events which makes some of the characters OOC. Larry the Lobster not knowing spongebob is a recent thing that comes to mind.
***** The pre-movie one where Spongebob was super lazy, right? I thought about that too but the chum bucket is just plain missing from this one. Plankton doesn't even get in on the mascot fights.
Alternate Ending: Spongebob creates his own snail food company, due to Gary's like for it. He's able to retire and live alone with Gary with his millions. Krabs has been arrested, showing a montage of everything illegal he's done, ending with him being thrown into a jail cell. Patrick becomes who he used to be, as he, spongebob, squidward and Sandy are all at Krabs' cell. Krabs promises he won't do anything bad ever again, to the ignoring of the cast. They leave him be in prison, as the show and Nickelodeon come to an end. After the credits there's a short montage of all of the series' best moments followed by "Thanks for staying by our side"
@@davyjones3105 They always turn off comments on videos for kids apparently which can be any animated movie clip, this especially with Spongebob clips.
Actually, Squidward getting fired instead should result in a bigger profit for Mr Krabs because Squidward's a lazy bum whereas Spongebob is an energetic and enthusiastic employee! If anything, SQUIDWARD should have been fired instead! That sounds like a great idea for an episode!
I agree. I don’t care if Squidward has seniority privileges or he’s been Mr. Krab’s close friend for I don’t know how long, no matter what, if he’s being lazy at his job, you’ve got to let him go.
When they went on strike, the episode ended with Krabs forcing them to stay forever. Squidward just hasn't gotten a lucky ticket out while Spongebob missed his chance here.
I haven't watched Songebob in a long time, but i heard this episode was getting so much praise, so I gave it a try. When they got to the part when he makes his own snail food, I genuinely thought this was going to be something different, that he was gong to start his own business or something. That was such a missed opportunity, especially for a season finale. I mean, I know it was very unlikely, but I was hoping it would end on a cliffhanger or something (and then back to the status quo in the next one). Well, now that Korra is ending, Nickelodeon is officially dead to me.
Had the writers actually used Mr. Enter's suggestions, this episode could have been truly mind-blowing: Spongebob's hidden talent for making snail food leads him to launch a profitable new business. He decides he likes his financial independence, and as such when Mr. Krabs asks him to come back to work for him, Spongebob righteously tells the cheapskate to go die in a hole. Some time later, Spongebob's snail food business boosts him to the top of Bikini Bottom, ultimately allowing him to buy out the Krusty Krab, and eventually fire Mr. Krabs over (what else?) a nickel. This would be awesome for two reasons: it would give Mr. Krabs the punishment he's deserved since LONG before "One Coarse Meal," and it would indicate that Spongebob is FINALLY ready to start growing up. But no, that kind of plot would have required a fundamental reworking of the entire series. The writers must assume that's heretical. I don't know: considering how bad this show's become, I think a fundamental reworking is just what we need.
If they would have done that the show would have changed and most cartoons must remain exactly the same at the start of every episode or else the companies think that the ratings will drop or that the show wont get any new viewers. Same on most live-action shows i think.
You know something Raving Rando, by taking some plot elements from this crappy episode and combining with you're idea, this would make a perfect fanfic! But of course i don't want to be some selfish jerk who would steal your idea, start writing it, and then take all the credit to myself.
i wish that could be the case but... unfortunately that sounds like a series finale, i would be happy with that, but nick seems to think they don't have enough money, despite being one of the cartoon kings for children
This episode contradicts Born Again Krabs. In that episode, Mr. Krabs sold SpongeBob for $.62 to death to the Flying Dutchman and Squidward scolded him which made Mr. Krabs regret his actions and get SpongeBob back. In here, Mr. Krabs fires SpongeBob a.k.a., his best fry cook, son, and glue to the Krusty Krab for a nickel and Squidward is happy and calls it Krabs' best business decision. That is my biggest pet peeve of the episode. What happened to Squidward in this episode since Born Again Krabs.
SpongeBob didn't torture Squidward in SpongeBob, You're Fired and I read on the SpongeBob Wiki that since Restraining SpongeBob, he hates Patrick more than SpongeBob.
This isn't what I'd call out of character. Squidward is generally thrilled when SB is out of the picture. In the former, Squid was concerned that SB was on the verge of death when that's not the case in this episode.
Oh God, I've always hated Mr. Krabs because he was a cheap piece of crap. But firing your best fry cook IS pathetic and just taking it too far if you fire him for a nickel. A FREAKING *NICKEL!* I hated this episode ALL because of Krabs earning a nickel for firing the sponge.
I only hate his modern self because of flanderization. There was an old episode where he actually did care for Spongebob, although he needed a bit of persuasion. Now he's a literal criminal.
Or what about the episode of when Mister Krabs falsely accuses Squidward of stealing his dime based off of him making assumptions that he did steal it considering that he's been standing behind the register for the remainder of work?
Captain:Who lives in a pineapple on the ocean floor? Kids:Spongebob Squarepants! Captain:Who hasn't been funny since 2004? Kids:Spongebob Squarepants! And that my friends is how you use the right year! Sorry for parodying your work/idea/theme!
@tim5corpion, no. see this hold 0 ground, i'll explain why: the movie went for sale, people had to buy it, so if u make your main show suffer for the creation of the movie, people are less likely to buy your movie, aka a drop in sales.
8:32-8:42 Ooh, let me have a personal take on that: Squidward: Well, I hate the smell of Krabby Patties even more. Mr. Krabs: Oh laddie, I should’ve never let you go. The Krusty Krab is falling apart without you. You’re rehired, boy. Spongebob: Oh, I’d love to be re-hired… Mr. Krabs: That’s the spirit! SB: But I distinctly remember you firing me for a nickel. Mr. K: (nervous laugh) Water under the bridge, eh Spongebob? SB: Yes Mr. Krabs, water under the bridge. Mr.K: Now how’s about you get in the kitchen and make some Krabby- SB: I quit. (dramatic jingle) Mr.K: What?! Squid.: What?! SB: During my time being fired, I learned how to make my own brand of snail food and now I’m thinking of pitching it to a corporate food company. Mr. K: But-but you’re me best fry cook! SB: Indeed, I am. (walking away) But it’s time for me to move on to better opportunities. (leaves Krusty Krab) Mr. K: (crying loudly) Squid: If Spongebob won’t be here and if you’re going to keep making Krabby Patties like this, then I quit too. Mr. K: NOOOOOOOO!!!!!
@@Copper20 Nah more like "Fuck you, and I hope that dirty nickel that you fired me over was worth it." And let's not also forget this, Spongebob become a successful businessman for his snail food company, as for Squidward, he chases his dreams and succeed to become a famous clarinet player and gets a record deal as his career skyrocketed and his first single goes Pearl within the next week, selling out concerts. Eugene on the other hand struggles to make a single patty since no one in Bikini Bottom is unable to cook one, as he falls behind on bills as well as receiving an eviction notice and the day after that he lost the Krusty Krab. So he had no other choice but to give his secret recipe for the krabby patties to his long time arch nemesis, Sheldon Plankton.
Well, Nick didn't want to lose on of the most popular and most profitable shows... And now it has gone all stale and bad as it has been on for FAR too long.
klaskycsupologofan I kind of said that as a reference to Patrick's "The End :D" after the Ugly Barnacle story. Even after the Spongebob Movie 2, I feel like this show will just keep on going for as long as Nick wants.
Old SpongeBob: I hereby declare war on the writers of this show for what they done to us in Seasons 5 and counting! Old Patrick: They shall pay for making us stereotypes of ourselves! Old Mr. Krabs: They'll pay for making me too greedy and too cheap! Old Squidward: They'll pay for torturing me! Old Sandy: Those varmints are going down! Old Plankton: Revenge will be ours! (evil laughter) (everybody looks at him confused) Okay, that was too much. Old Gary: Meow meow meow meow! (For the old us!)
"That's a great lesson for the kids!" Well when you think about it, Spongebob is a cartoon that basically glorifies being a literal manchild. That concept in itself is not a very good lesson for the kids.
Here's how it should've gone (notice the intentional callbacks, rather than lazy recycling of ideas): The SpongeBob series finale (not that I want the show to end, but it'd work best this way) opens with SpongeBob starting to make a Krabby Patty, but the order slip catches fire on the grill and, in a callback to _Nature Pants_, SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs try to handle the situation and fail: the fire department has to come in and stop it. Mr. Krabs consults his insurance agency and ultimately decides that SpongeBob is a liability and is forced to fire him (the phone conversation resembles that from the start of _Model Sponge_). SpongeBob tries to get a job at Weenie Hut Junior's and the restaurant from _Le Big Switch_, but, like in _Le Big Switch_, he can't seem to make anything but Krabby Patties. One day, he finds he's out of Snailpo, and makes some homemade snail food. Gary enjoys it, so does Patrick, and SpongeBob, in a callback to _Missing Identity_, tries it himself, expecting the worst, and enjoys it, too. He decides to go into business selling his homemade snail food, selling it in assorted colors (a callback to _Pretty Patties_). One day he's on a constitutional and walks by the Krusty Krab. He sees what a wreck the place is, and wonders if he should try and get his job back, but someone comes by, and reveals he's planning to apply for the job. SpongeBob evaluates his knowledge of the craft, and when he finds that he's as good a fry cook as he ever was, he gives him a pat on the back and wishes him luck. The Krusty Krab is doing fine, SpongeBob is raking in the bucks by the thousands with his assorted color snail food recipe, everyone's happy, *The End*. It'd be a nice way to end the show: it began with SpongeBob being hired at the KK, and it would've ended with him moving on from the KK
actually everything was good until the kidnapping part because it makes a decent plot. Spongebob gets fired from multiple jobs and without a job he loses money for snail food. Gary's hungry so Spongebob makes him food. realizing that his food is good he makes a small company from his home or lemonade stand style. when snail owners come along and buy it he starts getting recognition which leads him to having a large company and becoming rich. Mr.Krabs kidnaps him and ask him to come back but he refuses and starts his new life. this would had been a great opportunity for them to end the show. Why drag something that's been dead or in a comatose for years now? *Cough* Fairy Odd Parents *Cough*
+Cody Hines think of it this way: SpongeBob is nickelodeons trump card. if SpongeBob is cancelled or ended, the entire nickelodeon company will get dragged down with it. this includes it's sister channels, nicktoons and teennick. this of course is all a theory I came up with, but think about it: SpongeBob kills the ENTIRE daytime schedule (I'm not joking. look at it. the only other show playing is that stupid animated version of Alvin and the chipmunks). If SpongeBob gets cancelled, then Alvin and the chipmunks will fill that schedule (which can't end well) and if they put in the evening live action shows into the daytime, what will take over the evening schedule? in the end, all of nickelodeon leans on one thing: SpongeBob.

Have you ever noticed that when Nick has a show they're trying to hype, they have a new spongebob episode before or after it? That's why the show lives, imo: to hold up the rest of Nick
Myy god, if they had actually made spongeBob sell his homeade snail food, create his own multi million dollar company, have Mr. Krabs go bankrupt and then continue the story from there without ever revisiting the Krusty Krab I would've been soo happy. I might actually look forward to watching the new episodes after that. But no they totally threw away the possibility of changing the series for the better.
Pixie Dust Yes, and there's probably others, too. Tom Kenny is one of the most talented voice actors I know. There's not many I can say he's behind. Besides maybe Robin Williams.
+Flamestar320 power to the people You don't say! Well, he did a nice job writing for it, then, 'cause It's a SpongeBob Christmas was an even better 22 minute special than Christmas Who, and that's saying a lot, 'cause Christmas Who was great.
Take a shot everytime there are terrible episodes of SpongeBob, or any cartoon in general. This excludes pilots and shows that have all of their episodes be terrible.
So then a better version of this episode, based on your observation, would be thusly: -Spongebob, due to his usual goofy attitude and aloof negligence inadvertently sets the Krusty Krab on fire. -Mr Krabs sees this as the last straw and is forced to fire Spongebob recounting his other misadventures that have led to the destruction of the Krusty Krab in the past. -The scenes of Spongebob downtrodden whilst taking care of Gary would be shortened to maybe a minute or 2 tops. -When Patrick shows up to try and teach Spongebob the "fun" of unemployment he speaks about how Squidward normally tosses food at them. But when they get to Squidward's house he isn't there and is instead partying or at least smiling it up at work. -Figuring that they know where else they can get free food they head to plankton who is trying to give "free" samples to test new recipes. -Sandy, being an ethical scientist who cares about Spongebob would stop him from eating it and then give him a much needed pep talk. As well as give Plankton a snippy comment about how effed up he is for doing what he's doing. -Being in a cheerful mood, Spongebob would then look for a new job and while he's looking, perhaps on the classifieds(instead of wasting filler on rip offs of past episodes), he feeds Gary again who meows in delight absent Patrick and lets Spongebob know how great the food is. -With all this new spare time the episode could do a montage of Spongebob making himself a success selling snail food with some hints that he misses being a frycook. -Cut to Mr. Krabs and Squidward, who are both solidly in the wrong at this point, being in a loop with no customers. -Because unfortunately the status quo is god, things return to normal after Spongebob reconciles with Mr. Krabs and shuts down his snail food company(perhaps including a cute frame of Gary smiling in an empty factory full of delicious snail food). He's a frycook again and right as he's about to drop paper on the grill again, catches it this time and laughs as the episode cuts to black.
Why would Mr. Krabs fire his best fry cook who brings all his customers in and makes him a ton of money rather than fire squidward who always sleeps on the job???
Because Squidward is his closest friend that’s he known for years and he wants to keep coming up with lame excuses to keep him employed even though his friend would be more than glad to quit his job and pursue a different job he’d be more passionate about such as either an artist or clarinet player.
Nice touch with the Heavy Rain music. It almost sounds like we're mourning the passing of the old Spongebob -- heck, the passing of the old Nickelodeon.
Imagine a multi-episode plot arc where Spongebob starts his own snail food company. There could be some refreshing new antics with all the characters put in the new dynamic temporarily.
A few things: 1: Remember in the movie when Mr. Krabbs told Spongebob that to be a manager, he needs to grow up? That was far more sympathetic towards him than him than when the he fires him for financial reasons. Mr. Krabbs is little more than a fucking kleptomaniac. And for the record, Krabbs, it's called volunteer work! 2: You know, Spongebob is probably the closest to his original personality in this episode, which actually makes him really, really likable. I think that, despite the flaws of this episode, this series could eventually get back on track. Even Patrick is not too bad in this, especially compared to I'm With Stupid and Yours Mine and Mine.
Graveyard of Unlikable Characters Spongebob Squarepants - 1999-2002 [Help Wanted - Party Pooper Pants] Patrick Star - 1999-2001 [Help Wanted - I'm With Stupid] Squidward Tentacles - 1999-2013 [Help Wanted - Little Yellow Book] Eugene H. Krabs - 1999-2006 [Help Wanted - Whale of a Birthday] Sandy Cheeks - 1999-2013 [Tea At The Treedome - Spongebob, You're Fired!] Gary The Snail - 1999-2012 [Help Wanted - Treats!] Karen Plankton - Was Never Likable i'll continue this later
Ways to make this episode better: 1. Remove the filler and make this 11 minutes. 2. Make Mr Krabs fire Spongebob in a logical way, like he was being replaced, or to give him a small break without telling him, or ANYTHING!
If I were a voice actress in Spongebob since season 1, I would have quit in season 4. I don't care how high they'd pay me, the quality of cartoons means a lot to me and I'm sure there would be better opportunities. Seriously though, I'd like to know if the va's actually find their scripts humorous nowadays.
Alternate titles for this episode: "SpongeBob Performs Autophagia" "Sandy Conducts Potentially Illegal Human Experiments" "The Wasted Snail Food Subplot"
You know this could have been a great chance to entirely mix up the show. New restaurant, new characters other than Krabs and Squidward, might have been good.
8:27 there was actually an episode of Squidward learning how to defend himself with karate, yah wanna know how it ends? Squidward beat up an innocent man on accident and then gets arrested for it.
I think Nickelodeon wanted a special to be about Spongebob getting fired. This did not please any of the writers because they could not find anymore creative potential about Spongebob getting fired. They already did the Spongebob fired thing (even the ones where he thought he was fired) in Karate Choppers, Squid on Strike, Sleepy Time, Hooky, Bummer Vacation and Model Sponge and they saw no reason to do another but Nickeloden probably threatened them and they were forced to do it causing them stress and as a result, we get this mess of a special.
Super ahmed Probably. Another theory for why we tend to have a lot of really bad episodes primarily from Seasons 6 to 8 is because Nickelodeon likes to keep rushing production just to get more ratings. The writers didn't have much time to think for either good jokes or a good story. They're kinda sick of Nickelodeon. They wanted to quit but due to their contracts, they were kinda hostages to Nickelodeon (I think the Krabby Kronicle might be a metaphor of how the Nick execs treat the staff of Spongebob). However, a lot of these contracts are now expired and those writers are now free. Stephen Hillenburg and some of the other writers of Pre-Movie Spongebob have come back to work on Season 9.
+Super ahmed Production +BRRGames is this evidence or no on why they made this "David Bowie guest starred as the voice of Lord Royal Highness. Atlantis SquarePantis was written by longtime SpongeBob SquarePants writers, Casey Alexander, Zeus Cervas, Steven Banks, and Dani Michaeli, and was directed by Andrew Overtoom. Although it was promoted by Nickelodeon as the first made-for-television film of the series, Atlantis SquarePantis is an extended episode, running 45 minutes. "[Atlantis SquarePantis is] an adventurous quest kind of a story," said Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob, "about SpongeBob and his friends journeying and discovering the lost continent of Atlantis, which is ruled by a character voiced by David Bowie." The film stars the series main cast members including Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Clancy Brown, Carolyn Lawrence, and Mr. Lawrence. In addition to the regular series voice cast, English musician and artist David Bowie guest starred as the voice of the Atlantean King, Lord Royal Highness. Writing on his blog, David Bowie said: It's happened. At last. I've hit the Holy Grail of animation gigs. Yesterday I got to be a character on ... tan-tara ... SpongeBob SquarePants. Oh Yeah!! We, the family, are thrilled. Nothing else need happen this year, well, this week anyway. My character in this special longform (I think a half hour special) show is called 'Lord Royal Highness'. Alrighteee!! Tom Kenny said "the people who [watch] are often surprising to me and unexpected. You don't picture David Bowie, the Thin White Duke, sitting on the couch in his pajamas eating Cheerios watching SpongeBob cartoons. [With] our little basic-cable budget we could never afford to pay a legend like David Bowie what he's worth, but the fact he wants to be in something his kid likes is what gets the ball rolling."[3] Tom Kenny described Bowie's performance as "wonderfully convincing[...] It almost sounded real." The film includes 33 minutes of animation. Its animators at the Nickelodeon Animation Studios at Burbank, California sketched the outlines of the story in a year.[8] Paul Tibbitt, the show's supervising producer who also serves as the showrunner, explained "We're one of the last shows that does it the old-fashioned way, like they used to do it back in the Warner Brothers days." -wikipedia
Me: *watching this review* My baby sister: *she's 7* :D Oh! You're watching SpongeBob, you're fired! That's my favorite! She not only recognized it immediately from the paused image of Gary eating snail food, she said it was her favorite... What is Nickelodeon doing to my sister?!
KidSnivy69 i agree with that. I used to like the secret of nimh 2 when I was 8, but a few years later, I watched the original and realized how shit the sequel was.
All the ripoffs of older episodes in this episode: SpongeBob getting fired ("Karate Choppers" and "Squid on Strike") forced to leave over a small amount of money ("Can You Spare a Dime" and "Bummer Vacation") crying for too long ("A Day Without Tears" and "All That Glitters") Squidward gloats because SpongeBob leaves ("Home Sweet Pineapple") Mr. Krabs thinks he is a great cook, but is terrible ("Squilliam Returns") title of the episode ("Mrs. Puff, You're Fired") "best day ever" coffee mug ("Best Day Ever") majority of this episode is just filler ("Waiting") SpongeBob grows back part of himself ("Graveyard Shift") disturbing visuals ("Face Freeze") Sandy does a psychological experiment ("To Save a Squirrel" and "House Sittin' for Sandy") restaurant called Weenie Hut ("No Weenies Allowed") SpongeBob doesn't understand hot dogs ("Krusty Dogs") can only cook Krabby Patties ("Le Big Switch") invents a new food ("Patty Hype") captured against his will ("Karate Island") Squidward fights ("Squid Defense") SpongeBob cleans the whole place in record time ("Truth or Square") hired back because everything is worse without him ("Pickles" and "Welcome to the Chum Bucket") Are the creators really so out of ideas at this point that they ripped off 24 episodes at the same time? Because that is wrong on so many levels. Heck, they're even ripping the bad episodes. That's a low I didn't even think was possible.
I think the episode you're thinking of for "forced to leave for a small amount of money" is "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" I haven't seen "Bummer Vacation" and I don't know whether you mean forced to leave over a small amount of money or forced to leave with a small amount of money as payment for the day. I'm pretty sure it's the former.
That's one I forgot! But in "Can You Spare a Dime" Squidward is fired because he "stole" a dime, while in "Bummer Vacation" SpongeBob has to take a vacation or else Mr. Krabs would have lost a dime. I'll edit my comment right away.
Baffled Brandon Another comment alerted me that Squidward quit in "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime", so ignore that last comment. LOL I haven't watched SpongeBob since I was a kid, so the details on some episodes are sketchy.
Baffled Brandon To be fair, Mr. Krabs was being irrational from the start and drove Squidward into quitting, similar to how he would later drive Plankton to suicide in "One Coarse Meal" (oh God).
0:24. I watched it, and...my God. I'm pretty sure that half my brain exploded. An episode like this comes around only once in a great while. And when it does, you've gotta just drop everything AND KILL IT WITH FIRE!
So Spongegbob gets a Job at, Weenie Hut. Not Weenie Hut Jr., not Super Weenie Hut Jr., not even Weenie Hut General, just... Weenie Hut. Wow, the writers really are going out of their way to kill old Spongebob.
Wasn't this entire concept done before? Spongebob was fired and he tried to get other jobs but could only make burgers. A tried to be a banker and he ended up chopping the money into the shape of a patty, he tried to be a builder and turned the building into a giant mental patty, etc.,etc. Even the whole "saved by a patty" thing has been done before!
Fun fact: This episode was so controversial that Nickelodeon pulled it and thus is rarely ever played. That should give you an idea of just how badly it went over.
+P0CK3TB00K i don't think this episode was that bad i mean they say its controversial mainly because it shows patrick being happy about being unemployed however nobody seems to notice that spongebob was miserable while being unemployed so it really shows how bad it is
Towards the beginning of this review, you had a point. I saw Mr. Krabs firing Spongebob in those two episodes you mentioned. Although, Krabs eventually re-hired him in those two; also, I can't see why Nickelodeon decided to produce another episode revolving around Spongebob getting fired.
B...b...but the snail food plotline was right there for them. Why didn't they take it? Why include that scene and then not use it? I'm guessing some sort of conflict between the producers wanting the status quo and the writers wanting to shake things up.
They could have easily returned to status quo in that plot. Spongebob starts his business and becomes a big success, but realizes he has to actually run the business when all he wants to do is be a fry cook. He returns to the Krusty Krab, and is welcomed back because Mr. Krabs is an awful cook. Give Mr. Krabs a good reason for firing him, and the episode could've been great.
Here's how I'd end it: Spongebob gets the idea to sell the snail food he made as "Spongebob's Selections" from his home, diligently working hard. We see a montage of years passing by as he buys out the restaurants that called him back after they kicked him out, abd "Squarepants, Inc." becomes a pet food/ chain restaurant magnate. As 20 years go by, Spongebob enters the Krusty Krab abd Krabs' office to see an elderly Krabs give Spongebob the papers to purchase the Krusty Krab. After signing it and before sealing the deal, he says in a near somber tone "Y'know, I remember how there'd always be a new scheme of yours to get more money. Since the time I left, and though it was illegal, I'll always miss those times when it was just you, me and Squidward." Then, after a heartfelt conversation, Krabs and Spongebob shake hands, and Spongebob tearfully hugs him. "I'm gonna miss those days too, boy," says Krabs at the end of it. With a snetimental pang in his heart, Spongebob grabs the papers and puts them in a briefcase he brought, and walks out the doors of the re-opened Krusty Krab. Fade to white, with a message saying "In loving memory of Stephen Hillenberg, Thank you for Twenty Years." Honestly, it would've been better as a series finale.
I wouldn't go so far as to say Nickelodeon should die. At least not until Legend of Korra and TMNT 2012 is done with. But Spongebob? He's definitely worn out his welcome. Also, "Dexter vs Santa Claws"...have fun with that.
Better Plot, very early in, he makes snail food and gives it to Gary, after seeing the success, he starts selling it to people and eventually building up to a large corporation. Due to his work, he never notices the condition of the KK on the decline. Soon, Mr. K sets up an appointment, but he is busy and K gets no appointment, so he has to sneak in through the vents, cliche ly falls out of it to Spongebob. He begs him to come back, and Spongebob considers it, then his 3:00 comes in and tells him how happy his pet had been as a result, or he gets fan mail that tells him how happy they are about his Snail Food, which causes him to stay. He soon begs, but is unable to convince him, and he soon kicked out, Tara Tara Tara, working montage! Spongebob grows increasingly overworked until he feels burned out from within. Soon, he becomes so overworked, he falls unconscious and has to go to the hospital, who tells him of severe overwork deteriorating his physical state. Seeing this issue, he goes for a walk and decides he needs a break for a while. He goes for a walk, unhappy but he doesn't know why, even though he is successful, he doesn't feel content or joyous for some reason. Soon, he finds the KK. It is just about to close for... obvious (Welcome to the Chum Bucket flashbacks) and seeing Spongebob, 🦀 gets hopeful. Sadly, he is only here to eat, and K decides to give him a patty, for old times sake before it closes. Remembering the times, he walks in to see it... well... a disaster, but he ignores it, he sees it, but ignores it. After some disaster, he gets a Krabby Patty and it is just awful. He questions what is going on, and then sees how it is being made. He pushes 🦀 out and says, "this is how it's done" He makes a Patty perfectly and a customer walks in just in time to taste it. The cooking and customer enjoying it reminds him why he did what he did, and he realized he wasn't happy with his job now. He realizes that this is what he wanted to do, and even though he was successful, he loved this, not the other job. He then ask for his job back, 🦀 acts Tsun, but later complied and Sponge gets his job back, and makes people happy doing what he loves. It ends with 🦑 asking who he left the Corp to, cut to a scene with Gary and Sandy? I don't know 🤷♀️ in charge and running things smoothly, and the episode ends. The story I feel is decent, the morals are easy to see, and it has just the right drama and heartfelt sap for a special. Also, 🦀 GIVES A GOOD REASON FOR FIRING HIM! This is a case where we all know how it will end, but is still interesting to watch nonetheless.
You know, in this very episode, you have Spongebob regenerate, and not just that, but *cutting himself in tiny versions of himself*. If that is the case, then why, oh why, didn't he just cut his arm or hand when the hotdog guy chained him? Seriously, there's bad writing, and then there's just not caring.
UltiGeek And on that note, why did The Splinter even need to happen? He could've just pulled off his arm and re-grown it. "You mean like this?" *pop* "Or this?" *pop*
Best Day Ever wasn't the show's first ratings trap. That double-length special from season 3 where he threw a house party and nothing else remotely memorable happened was.
"Party Pooper Pants" may have indeed been a ratings trap (technically, aren't ALL "special episodes" designed to farm viewers?), but it is still LIGHT-YEARS better than garbage like "Best Day Ever" or this thing.
Raving Rando I call that episode a ratings trap because almost nothing happens in it. As for Best Day Ever, I think that's purely on Nick, since it's an 11 minute episode. Nick just advertised as special for no reason whatsoever despite being a normal length episode much like what they did a few months later to the series finale of Catscratch.
Spongebob is notorious for over hyping average/ lackluster episodes by spending weeks advertising them as the best things ever and padding the episodes out with Patchy segments.
"If this episode has ANYTHING, it's that this is the extent of misery that Squidward goes to!" I don't think so. SpongeBob's friends show care for him, Spongebob himself isn't all that annoying and the villains are punished in the end. If only there weren't those logic holes and a more logically impressive solution for the conflict, this episode wouldn't have been bad.
Actually, Squidward can brawl like that, due to his karate training from Sandy and SpongeBob, though granted there's little to no continuity in this series, and they keep mixing certain abilities and such, like making SpongeBob Sandy's equal in some episodes (like the first karate one) and making him weaker in others. God, it's confusing.
BlythePennyBicycle21 Holy crap, that would make the episode BETTER than it already was! I wish that would be the point of the episode instead of how it was. The only flaw is that Spongebob hates Plankton as much as Krabs does, and Spongebob wouldn't work for him, unless if he had no other choice. Overall, this is an excellent way for the plot to have much more meaning. 9.5/10
Xx LintyGail219 xX Honestly, every plot I've seen in the comments section for this video was a better plot that the actual episode. Even if this was going to be an episode that preserves the status quo, they could've made a better story, funnier jokes, and actually put something together that makes sense.
There's also a bit of "Selling Out" in this plot. The parts where Spongebob is without a job and getting bored with nothing to do reminds me of when Krabbs is left bored with nothing to do.
When it seems like there's going to be something to change the show's formula, but something happens that keeps that same formula going. If Spongebob stayed fired, this episode would have averted that trope.
***** It dosn't necesserly mean "anty climax" there can be a climax that preserves the satus quo. Think about this this way, "status quo is god" is the reason you know that they ussualy won't kill the protagonist in the middle of the series. To a certin degree this is pretty omnipresent, all shows have invariable elements, but when it's taken to extreem, when a show's formula _needs_ to be refreshed or when change that would be good for the show is teased to strongly this can get *relly* annoying.
If I were SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs fired me over a nickel, I would sell the Kraby Patty secret formula to Plankton and take whatever he offered for it, not because I need it, but just out of spite. Wouldn't that have made for a more interesting episode?
+Dr Shaym That would've been really out of character for Spongebob though, he doesn't seem that vengeful.
+Unfunny Dilbert 1876 Spongebob is a gilded yellow demon.
***** No, most of the things he does are out of naivete. Not malice.
***** Sponegbob sounds likes a completely original character name to me, so how could anything be out of character for him?
***** The joke was that you misspelled his name as "Sponegbob" as instead of "Spongebob."
+Classic Nickelodeon Once I find my camera, I'm going to post a video telling how I would fix episodes like this one.
+Classic Nickelodeon Thanks
Well, at least Patrick is close to his original personality. I mean, he at least tried to cheer SpongeBob up in this episode.
True
so I guess that's ONE good thing the episode has going for it...not to mention it's been a while since an episode had Gary...
Graphite Tail Grace yeah. I disagreed with Mr. Enter when he said it's worse than One Coarse Meal, because this one was more "boring" than funny.

Didn't "Workers On Strike" say that Spongebob was supposed to work for Krabs FOREVER?
Yeah but spongebob has a crap continuity
The show picks and chooses with continuity. Take for instance, in "whelk attack", we get a callback to "suds", but most of the time....
If, at this point in the show, you're still looking for continuity, you should probably stop watching the show...
Serafini Gaunt Continuity in modern Spongebob is about as non existent as a good Breadwinners episode.
***** Not continuity in the traditional sense, I'm also talking about how in modern Spongebob, most leave out continuity events which makes some of the characters OOC. Larry the Lobster not knowing spongebob is a recent thing that comes to mind.
You know...why wouldn't Spongebob go work at the Chum Bucket? They're literally always hiring, especially the moneymaker of their rival.
***** The pre-movie one where Spongebob was super lazy, right? I thought about that too but the chum bucket is just plain missing from this one. Plankton doesn't even get in on the mascot fights.
+MrBoltstrike that would mean they had a brain, so the chum bucket doesn't exist I. This one
+ThePonyDalek Good point. Also, is that profile picture Sonata?
+Raven Chan yep. That is Sonata Dusk.
It happened in one episode. SpongeBob hated it because Mr. Krabs spoiled him and Plankton didn't.

Gary happily eating food is the cutest thing in Spongebob ever though.
Zim is coming back
Even him making his own snail food is a problem: the episode would likely just turn into a rehash of "Patty Hype"
Had the writers actually used Mr. Enter's suggestions, this episode could have been truly mind-blowing:
Spongebob's hidden talent for making snail food leads him to launch a profitable new business.
Whoa. That would've been a GREAT episode. And then we'd finally have a happy ending to the show!
i wish that could be the case but... unfortunately that sounds like a series finale, i would be happy with that, but nick seems to think they don't have enough money, despite being one of the cartoon kings for children
Amen!
But both involve Mr. Krabs getting rid of SpongeBob because of money.
@UC3aLoydmpG0N7G5pIiIUT1A Nope. You're an idiot
The squidward torture porns happened.
Xx LintyGail219 xX Same here.

8:32-8:42 Ooh, let me have a personal take on that:
Squidward: Well, I hate the smell of Krabby Patties even more.
Mr. Krabs: Oh laddie, I should’ve never let you go. The Krusty Krab is falling apart without you. You’re rehired, boy.
Spongebob: Oh, I’d love to be re-hired…
Mr. Krabs: That’s the spirit!
SB: But I distinctly remember you firing me for a nickel.
Mr. K: (nervous laugh) Water under the bridge, eh Spongebob?
SB: Yes Mr. Krabs, water under the bridge.
Mr.K: Now how’s about you get in the kitchen and make some Krabby-
SB: I quit. (dramatic jingle)
Mr.K: What?!
(leaves Krusty Krab)

I would've gone with Spongebob saying "Fuck off Mr. Krabs, your shop can rot for all I care."

Here's how it should've gone (notice the intentional callbacks, rather than lazy recycling of ideas):
The SpongeBob series finale (not that I want the show to end, but it'd work best this way) opens with SpongeBob starting to make a Krabby Patty, but the order slip catches fire on the grill and, in a callback to _Nature Pants_, SpongeBob and Mr.
Because money

I might actually look forward to watching the new episodes after that. But no they totally threw away the possibility of changing the series for the better.
Sounds like you people want Moral Orel out of a show for 5 year olds.
@@DiegoAmateur So you respond to my 7 year old comment with THAT? Try again dude.
@@Ace_of_Horns whatever let's you sleep at night
I'm not really a fan of Spongebob, but I love Tom Kenny. Poor Tom Kenny.
SelfAwarePedant Tom Kenny's talent has graced other animations, too. Such as CatDog.
nascarfanatic2425 And FHFIF and PPG
Pixie Dust Yes, and there's probably others, too. Tom Kenny is one of the most talented voice actors I know. There's not many I can say he's behind. Besides maybe Robin Williams.
+SelfAwarePedant Fun fact about Tom Kenny: He has written for "It's A Spongebob Christmas!".
+Flamestar320 power to the people You don't say! Well, he did a nice job writing for it, then, 'cause It's a SpongeBob Christmas was an even better 22 minute special than Christmas Who, and that's saying a lot, 'cause Christmas Who was great.
Take a shot every time Doug Lawrence makes no effort to disguise his voice.
Take a shot everytime there are terrible episodes of SpongeBob, or any cartoon in general. This excludes pilots and shows that have all of their episodes be terrible.
Brandon Schemers
You'll be dead by the time you're done with SpongeBob season 5
Brandon Schemers Thats your opinion
After about 10 episodes, the players will be stumbling on their way to the bathroom, tripping on the floor, and screaming "MY LEG!"
So then a better version of this episode, based on your observation, would be thusly:
-Spongebob, due to his usual goofy attitude and aloof negligence inadvertently sets the Krusty Krab on fire.
+Mixinnitup Unfortunate about the "status quo" part, but that sounds like a really great idea. :)
At least Krabs didn't fire Spongebob for a PENNY!!!!!!!
+Big Reagan Games Is there a coin equivalent? I doubt it, but you never know.
or for LITERALLY no reason
Why would Mr. Krabs fire his best fry cook who brings all his customers in and makes him a ton of money rather than fire squidward who always sleeps on the job???
***** That logic is literally thrown right out the window. These writers are just stupid.
The writers have fall into another dimension of writing where the show's normality is more important than the logic.
Because Squidward is more mature than Spongebob.THAT'S WHY.
I was making a reference on the movie and c'mon we alll know that Spongebob is far more hard working than Shitward.
And here I thought sandy was competition for twilight sparkle

+blooflazh7 shut the fuck up
+blooflazh7 Good job, you got the word, now give me the definition without using internet sources.
This guy takes his Spongebob seriously.

+Mo Senpai Tell me one 90's kid who doesn't.
+Mo Senpai Just like the other people who hate the new SpongeBob. And that group of people includes me. Yay.
that's why I like watching his vids
Another Plot Hole: Squidward asks Mr. Krabs if he can get fired, too. Um... if he doesn't want his job anymore, why the hell doesn't he just quit? -_-
He did before at least twice same thing with Squidward moving away Spongebob has no continuity
"Squid on Strike" & "Can You Spare A Dime, are two episodes where he quit his job. And in Can You Spare A Dime, he couldn't even sell his paintings.
***** Yeah, so why would he ask Mr. Krabs to fire him?
Matthew L. Saunders Squidward's sarcastic like that
*****
Yeah.
Well, Mr. Krabs has sold spongebob's literal soul for only 62 cents, so I wouldn't get too worked up about the beginning.
+MrStarman926 Yeah, but he DID feel remorse after
LOL $0.62 (USD I assume)!? That's the lowest net worth for a massively popular cartoon character I have ever seen in my life!
we now need a top ten mister Krabs is a cheap-ass episodes list WHOS WITH ME
I am
***** I am!
Squidward: I'm not.
Krabs: Oh yes you do, no list means no money! Now go make that list OR YOUR FIRED!!!
is that a classic spongebob reference?
ik i grew up with classic spongebob, that is my favorite episode
Imagine a multi-episode plot arc where Spongebob starts his own snail food company. There could be some refreshing new antics with all the characters put in the new dynamic temporarily.
If anything, Spongebob starting a Snail Food business after getting fired to get back at Krabs would have been a much better plot for this episode.
A few things:
1: Remember in the movie when Mr.
I Always thought Yours Mine and Mine was worse than stuck in the wringer. At least, in Stuck in the wringer, Patrick realised his mistake at the end.
Thankfully, Nickelodeon is working their way back up with Harvey Beaks, Loud House, and Miraculous Ladybug.
They still have a lot way to go with Breadwinners Sanjay and Crain and the upcoming Pinky Malinky are awful
Woah woah woah, working their way back UP with Miraculous? I think that show did the exact opposite.
And the writers are actively trying to improve with this show.
HA Animation Actually, they took down Sanjay and Craig, along with Breadwinners. Now, we just need Nicktoons to do the same.....
HA Animation also Pig Goat Banana Cricket sucks.
Also I love Hey Arnold too!

Ways to make this episode better:
1. Remove the filler and make this 11 minutes.
2. Make Mr Krabs fire Spongebob in a logical way, like he was being replaced, or to give him a small break without telling him, or ANYTHING!
and show reveal plankton is disguse as mr krabs
If I were a voice actress in Spongebob since season 1, I would have quit in season 4. I don't care how high they'd pay me, the quality of cartoons means a lot to me and I'm sure there would be better opportunities. Seriously though, I'd like to know if the va's actually find their scripts humorous nowadays.
"Not even Andrew Ryan would do that." Really says alot.
Perpetual Fluctuation Welp, that's a bit of a letdown. I thought more people would know who he is.

Alternate titles for this episode:
"SpongeBob Performs Autophagia"
"Sandy Conducts Potentially Illegal Human Experiments"
"The Wasted Snail Food Subplot"
You know this could have been a great chance to entirely mix up the show. New restaurant, new characters other than Krabs and Squidward, might have been good.
This episode was banned by Nickelodeon

8:27 there was actually an episode of Squidward learning how to defend himself with karate, yah wanna know how it ends? Squidward beat up an innocent man on accident and then gets arrested for it.
@PuffyHairedGhost I agree
The way you said "chef on the S.S. Diarrhea" so calmly....I've been laughing for 3 minutes straight.
2:42 Squidward could make really good Krabby Patties in Bubble Buddy.
+BRRGames So it turns out the writers are innocent?
Super ahmed
Probably.
***** I thought Casey Alexander was a bad writer but it's NIckelodeon.
***** I miss the old Nickelodoen,
R.I.P NICK

+Super ahmed Production +BRRGames is this evidence or no on why they made this
"David Bowie guest starred as the voice of Lord Royal Highness.
"[Atlantis SquarePantis is] an adventurous quest kind of a story," said Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob, "about SpongeBob and his friends journeying and discovering the lost continent of Atlantis, which is ruled by a character voiced by David Bowie."
The film stars the series main cast members including Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Clancy Brown, Carolyn Lawrence, and Mr. Lawrence. In addition to the regular series voice cast, English musician and artist David Bowie guest starred as the voice of the Atlantean King, Lord Royal Highness. Writing on his blog, David Bowie said:
It's happened.
[With] our little basic-cable budget we could never afford to pay a legend like David Bowie what he's worth, but the fact he wants to be in something his kid likes is what gets the ball rolling."[3] Tom Kenny described Bowie's performance as "wonderfully convincing[...] It almost sounded real."
The film includes 33 minutes of animation.
Me: *watching this review*
My baby sister: *she's 7* :D Oh! You're watching SpongeBob, you're fired! That's my favorite!
She not only recognized it immediately from the paused image of Gary eating snail food, she said it was her favorite... What is Nickelodeon doing to my sister?!
I used to like bad episodes too. It's just our stupid youth I guess, heh.
Don't worry usually as you get old your taste develops and you realized some of the things you watched weren't as great as you thought
KidSnivy69 i agree with that. I used to like the secret of nimh 2 when I was 8, but a few years later, I watched the original and realized how shit the sequel was.
.
I used to like G3... For 5 years. Thankfully I absolutely hated G3.5 and Newborn Demons.
All the ripoffs of older episodes in this episode:
SpongeBob getting fired ("Karate Choppers" and "Squid on Strike")
forced to leave over a small amount of money ("Can You Spare a Dime" and "Bummer Vacation")
crying for too long ("A Day Without Tears" and "All That Glitters")
Squidward gloats because SpongeBob leaves ("Home Sweet Pineapple")
Mr. Krabs thinks he is a great cook, but is terrible ("Squilliam Returns")
title of the episode ("Mrs. Puff, You're Fired")
"best day ever" coffee mug ("Best Day Ever")
majority of this episode is just filler ("Waiting")
SpongeBob grows back part of himself ("Graveyard Shift")
disturbing visuals ("Face Freeze")
Sandy does a psychological experiment ("To Save a Squirrel" and "House Sittin' for Sandy")
restaurant called Weenie Hut ("No Weenies Allowed")
SpongeBob doesn't understand hot dogs ("Krusty Dogs")
can only cook Krabby Patties ("Le Big Switch")
invents a new food ("Patty Hype")
captured against his will ("Karate Island")
Squidward fights ("Squid Defense")
SpongeBob cleans the whole place in record time ("Truth or Square")
hired back because everything is worse without him ("Pickles" and "Welcome to the Chum Bucket")
Are the creators really so out of ideas at this point that they ripped off 24 episodes at the same time?
Damn, I liked Pickles and Karate Choppers...
Also, isn't the Best Day Ever mug a reference and not a ripoff?
Weenie Hut. Wow, the writers really are going out of their way to kill old Spongebob.
i wonder how he feels that on 24th of september spongebob was voted 8th greatest cartoon of all time
Wasn't this entire concept done before? Spongebob was fired and he tried to get other jobs but could only make burgers. A tried to be a banker and he ended up chopping the money into the shape of a patty, he tried to be a builder and turned the building into a giant mental patty, etc.,etc. Even the whole "saved by a patty" thing has been done before!
im pretty sure the dress they put squidward in is princess bubblegum's, if so then wow nickelodeon, just wow
Me thinks that NIck is jelly
Zachary Watson prolly
Douglas Walrath
well, nick was the one who turned down Adventure Time.
Shadowstep ofThunderclan good point
well it does look like it, except the excessive amount of jewels
6:36 hold up, the original weenie hut was an ice cream shop. totally remembering the old, actually good episodes right there.
Fun fact: This episode was so controversial that Nickelodeon pulled it and thus is rarely ever played. That should give you an idea of just how badly it went over.
+P0CK3TB00K i don't think this episode was that bad i mean they say its controversial mainly because it shows patrick being happy about being unemployed however nobody seems to notice that spongebob was miserable while being unemployed so it really shows how bad it is
@@megabladechronicles962agreed, it’s just more dull and boring, it’s FAR better than Driven to tears
Here's how I'd end it:
Spongebob gets the idea to sell the snail food he made as "Spongebob's Selections" from his home, diligently working hard.
2:30 "You're a fucking fish!" Died laughing
Boo. you suck.
I always wondered why mr krabs would kick out the guy who makes the food yet keep the rude slacker who falls asleep on the job constantly
Lets be honest here, Squidward playing the super hero was quite awesome. For once he got a cool scene and not a torture porn.
I wouldn't go so far as to say Nickelodeon should die. At least not until Legend of Korra and TMNT 2012 is done with.
But Spongebob? He's definitely worn out his welcome.
Also, "Dexter vs Santa Claws"...have fun with that.
Fuck Dexter.
He pushes 🦀 out and says, "this is how it's done"
He makes a Patty perfectly and a customer walks in just in time to taste it.
"You couldn't even cook peas"
That burn tho.
UltiGeek
And on that note, why did The Splinter even need to happen?
Imagine if this episode was in realistic form, then spongebob will get a lawyer
"If this episode has ANYTHING, it's that this is the extent of misery that Squidward goes to!"
I don't think so. SpongeBob's friends show care for him, Spongebob himself isn't all that annoying and the villains are punished in the end. If only there weren't those logic holes and a more logically impressive solution for the conflict, this episode wouldn't have been bad.
This episode becomes somewhat darker when you realize that human trafficking can happen in restaurants
I luv you're vids
thanks!
Even if this was going to be an episode that preserves the status quo, they could've made a better story, funnier jokes, and actually put something together that makes sense.
nascarfanatic2425
Yep. I can agree with that. :3
*love *your
Personally, I just need to wait until Legend of Korra and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are over. Then Nickelodeon can go die.
Unfortunately, it's still making a ton of money...
There's also a bit of "Selling Out" in this plot. The parts where Spongebob is without a job and getting bored with nothing to do reminds me of when Krabbs is left bored with nothing to do.
At least it wasn't a musical.
Heh I’d still prefer Atlantis over this
What do you mean by "The Status Quo is God"
When it seems like there's going to be something to change the show's formula, but something happens that keeps that same formula going. If Spongebob stayed fired, this episode would have averted that trope.
TheMysteriousMrEnter So, in a way, it's an anticlimax (with a series of events that could potentially change the formula)?
Yeah, it's probably always an anticlimax. But it's the result of some of the worst television moments in history.
*****
It dosn't necesserly mean "anty climax" there can be a climax that preserves the satus quo.
TheMysteriousMrEnter can you do an Animated Atrocity on the Hey Arnold episode Arnold Betrays Iggy.
Squidward can actually cook. In the episode "The Great Krabby Name" Squidward was cooking while Spongebob was gone.
this actually had me laughing pretty hard. not the review, the episode. the commentary might've been part of it but still
