So men have the same as women. Dark dye is almost always a mistake. If you're trying to hide gray, go lighter. If your hair was red, stay away from red because it's very hard to get red to look right on an older person and on gray hair. You don't want to look like your hair belongs on someone else and you don't want to end up with pink hair (if you're going for a natural look).
@@peacelove1854 You could argue casual wear is rule based also. For example would someone who favours wearing tracksuits and hoodies feel it would be acceptable to wear a pair of cap toe oxfords with a tracksuit? I doubt it. Why? Because cap toe oxfords are at the other end of the spectrum, and are not sports footwear. Now that is a 'rule' that remains. But people seem to frown on the rules of formal wear. I have never understood why people feel it is appropriate to wear a pair of trainers with a suit. There are less casual shoes available that mimick these trainers but still retain a form fitting to be worn with a suit. I think you can still wear t-shirt with open shirt (flannel) over it even after 30s (I hope, I am 29 and turning 30 soon, and like wearing flannel over t-shirt when not in office). You just need to think about the solid mutted color t-shirt and not bold colors or patterns. Also it should be event appropriate. There was one after shave or cologne (it was too long ago for me to remember) Axe had which smelled pretty amazing, and smelled notably different in that specific formula vs same scent in other formulas. I still mourn that it was a temporary product because it smelled like wonderful dry spiced mead. Not the cloying sugary kind of mead, but the sort where you have let the process use up the sugars to make a pleasant dry drink. I am pretty particular about my mead preferences, and to accidentally find a scent like that was magical, and I was really sad to find out it had gotten discontinued because it was my favourite scent to use at the time. Then again I am a girl so my perfume preferences isn't particularly masculine.
Haha! I used to wear Axe when I lived in the UK as a kid, except over there it was called Lynx. When I moved to the states I couldn’t find it so I moved on to gel based deodourants. Now it’s here too and it’s called Axe but I’m never going back.
I whole heartedly agree with the use of linen, especially when combined with the DB linen jacket you are wearing in the video. Who's tailoring is that, incredibly elegant. I am 58, my methods are: -lightweight fabrics combined with razor sharp tailoring, no more heavy flannels - a great haircut - no, zero denim - get a tab or at minimum sun on face - great quality smaller knot read Hermes or Italian ties - avoid bow ties unless formal wear involved - little caffeine and more fresh clean water - majority vegetarian diet - 7 days a week light exercise - varied, updated new. sources Great video, one of your best !
Dropping my "youthful" style touches actually made me look younger. I've always liked picking "nice" clothes, so that's not the issue, but I'm old enough that more than once in my life, it's been ok for guys to wear baggy clothes, long shirts, etc and working as a DJ, I've always been able to have kind of a long-haired, rock and roll look. Not that I was trying to look younger, that's just what I was used to since my teen years. Then one day I saw myself in a video, so I could see myself from different angles, and realized that the style I was rocking was no longer flattering. Now I'm at the barber once a month, keeping it short, clothes fitting the way they're supposed to and I look ten years younger.
I love you Guys. Please don't get wrong, your guide is truly "Rules To Live By". However, sneakers will ALWAYS go with any ensemble. it depends on the person. Some can pull it off without looking ridiculous. as a 34 yo, still wear sport shorts/pants since in my teens but still look good in it being in great shape with youthful skin from consistent workout, healthy diet and active lifestyle. People thought I’m in 20s and still getting lot of looks from young ladies. 💪😎
There are so many factors to consider. Cultural, financial, geographical to name justa few. I always say that most people dress with what they can afford. You showed that old man wearing a baseball cap and a Tee, he looks like someone that lives in the streets, what option can someone like that have? In my country, shirts tucked inside the pants, mocassins, and panama hats would be considered 'old man's clothes'. I'm on my late 50s and work with event productions full of young people, DJs etc, many trendy types. My solution? I wear all black and never, ever showing any brand. And even though I look younger than I am I want to be perceived as sober and discreet.
'Sober'...I like that! Also, another factor to consider is body type/weight. All the men in this video were at or very close to a normal weight. And, most older men are NOT at an ideal weight.
@Juuju Mayele wearing a suit a tuesday evening in a bad neighborhood can get you robbed if you dont look dangerous. I think we should dress differently according to moments and environnement

The point and goal is to look your age. Not younger but also not older. You have to go with the time and make it enjoyable. You have to accept that we all age and mature and not fall into midlife crisis. Now where is my black Harley Davidson jacket and my bandana?! got to go...
Letting nature take its course visually and wearing age-appropriate things is only possible if you have a partner or are looking for one of the same age. Not if you are looking for a partner who is at least 20 years younger. Then you have to do something to make it look more youthful.

I’m a plain fitted tee or polo and jeans type. Hooded sweatshirts are for cooler weather. I’m not an office employee so the corporate casual style isn’t mine at all. I agree that heavily branded attire can negatively affect one’s appearance as we age. But for the most part one should wear what suits their bodies and what reflects their sense of style.
With all due respect, there is an issue here with the presumption that a man always wants to look younger. This may be true after 60, certainly, but on the other hand, it can be a very, very bad idea for a man to look under 35, in a wide range of contexts. Most men are far better off looking 40, than looking 25.
I wonder where you get that presumption from. We certainly did not say or advocate for it. Some men want to look younger, sometimes they want to look older or they want to look their age. If that's you we have other videos for you... Just use the search function
Thank you for the informative video. I’m 26 now and yikes! As true as you are, it’s a nightmare for me to be expected to wear those sorts of clothing in your videos when (or if) I’m that age. I couldn’t fathom myself wearing anything other than a T-shirt as the base, not only for look purposes but also for feel. I HATE polo and anything else atm. My favorite brands are ASOS, Topman and a few luxury shoes and jackets here and there, go figure 🤣. I usually wear sports clothing and shorts but thank god I’m a rollerskating fanatic so I have a reason to wear it all day 🤣
Have you done a video about how to choose fragrances that are a match for your own natural smells? I'll look around in your playlist, but wanted to ask here, too.
Therabreath is the ONE. We live by their products. Sven - yes to the t-shirt and jeans around the house. You might not think so, but that gray looks good on you. NO, never again, to the sweats.
I disagree on the sweatpants. The reason Ben Affleck looked bad in that picture was because his sweats were too big and baggy compared to the slimmer, close-to-the-body sweats you showed on the younger guys. The trick is for the sweat pants to be fitted and not tight. Also, it's not about looking "young," but looking "your best." Even young adults make bad fashion choices. I think the reason young adults can pull off certain trends better than older adults is because they still have perky, "kissable" faces compared to older faces which may look "sad," "tired," "mean" and/or "droopy."
Really liked the last outfit; I missed where to purchase the hat! ❤️ A rundown of where to purchase the shirt, pants, shoes, and belt would also be great! Thank you for your videos!

True. A C02 charged cologne is cheesy.
I don’t think they sell Axe anymore at least in my country they don’t...
Top quality content, like the usual standard
Also the background music was lower this time, which is much appreciated.
I whole heartedly agree with the use of linen, especially when combined with the DB linen jacket you are wearing in the video. Who's tailoring is that, incredibly elegant. I am 58, my methods are: -lightweight fabrics combined with razor sharp tailoring, no more heavy flannels
- a great haircut
- no, zero denim
- get a tab or at minimum sun on face
- great quality smaller knot read Hermes or Italian ties
- avoid bow ties unless formal wear involved
- little caffeine and more fresh clean water
- majority vegetarian diet
- 7 days a week light exercise
- varied, updated new. sources
Great video, one of your best !
2:10 - 2:16 Had me dying of laughter LOL. Just look at Raphael on the right side of the screen throughout this time
Edit: 6:16 - 6:23 as well
8:01!
9:39 is the real deal 😂 Respect having the guts showing yourself in so unflattering pieces
Great stuff, I am 42 and still dress like I am in college. I don't usually dress up too much but getting tips from channels like this is a big help
Now me personally, I look like a 90 year old man in my suit and tie, Panama hat, and tassel loafers.
Nice work, I appreciate all the work you put into the video very educational
Why does you “age appropriate” outfit look like all Cuban dads?
I liked the style of the really old guy. He was right on 😂. When you are extremely old you can wear anything and look ok.
I love really older men who just do as they please, like having longer grey hair tied up etc. I think that looks great, show it if you've got it!
I've dressed the same way I did back in high school in the 80's and it works for me. But I'm so dam good-looking it wouldn't matter how I dressed.
Or if you dressed at all!
You're just here for kicks, then?
It's a curse.....being so dam good lookin these days !!
I have same problem
Big head, show a pic of yourself .
Thanks for these great tips
What Sven is wearing; the slacks, open dress shirt, and straw summer hat, is my regular casual dress in the Summer.
Sweatpants and that attire for 40's guy made me laugh 😆.
Really funny.
Great advice as usual...
Hey Rafa! Nice video. I must recommend very highly Calvin Klein loafer no-show socks. They have been a game changer for me! Tschuss!
I love you Guys. Please don't get wrong, your guide is truly "Rules To Live By".
However, sneakers will ALWAYS go with any ensemble. Sneakers are just too cool to overlook; history will mark their arrival on the fashion scene as a Watershed Moment. Perspective is the key.
Great Channel, love the work. Please keep it up!
I love when Sven wears regular sweatpants and hoodies 😅 He looks like he's about to rob a bank. 💰
Nice work 🏆🏆🏆
it depends on the person. 💪😎
Thanks for sharing the non-sponsored products. Being older and bigger I appreciate these videos that address our problems.
I don't try to dress younger. I just don't know how to dress for my age.
@Juuju Mayele wearing a suit a tuesday evening in a bad neighborhood can get you robbed if you dont look dangerous. I think we should dress differently according to moments and environnement
@@bobbyjackson5172 Not really. Some Jordans cost WAY more than my whole wardrobe. If you have money, you won't be on foot. I know this because I am from the hood.
Classic attire is timeless!! Great video 👍🏽😃
I am 43 but not planning on looking or smelling like my grandpa anytime soon, I work from home and I live in a HOT city, leave my v neck and my flip flops alone, thank you.
@@dzevadbayraktar322 I live in Río de Janeiro, everyone sees me.

This is such a great channel and always the best advice.
Preston joke was gold. Always liked the channel going back years now, but I feel like there's been more character lately.

Blue driving mocs!!! 5:12 Very nice. What brand are they?
he even looks old in the 'correct' outfits lol
Body type and proper fit can be a hard thing to put together but when it works it can be magic.
I have to disagree with the sneakers. Those lime vans looked sick with the brown suit
Jordan’s, vans, converse are classic go ahead and wear them at any age
@@garyseeseverything8615 i do, I'm 48
Looked LIKE sick...surely?
@@garyseeseverything8615 Jordans? I dont think so.
@@moundain4220 not with a suit but with jeans and nice t shirt on summer day. Some people love sports they exercise
Great topic, new subscriber
The point and goal is to look your age. Not younger but also not older. You have to go with the time and make it enjoyable. You have to accept that we all age and mature and not fall into midlife crisis. Now where is my black Harley Davidson jacket and my bandana?! got to go...
Letting nature take its course visually and wearing age-appropriate things is only possible if you have a partner or are looking for one of the same age. Not if you are looking for a partner who is at least 20 years younger. Then you have to do something to make it look more youthful.
Just discovered your channel and loving IT !!!
"older gentleman, smells like who spent the whole day in an abercombie and fitch store..."
boy, I need to cach up with 2020s slangs and memes
A very good informative and educating the aged men how to dress according to the age.
wow let's take advice from a guy who looks like he was dressed by his mother
@oxytocin I was undressed with yours 😉
I think he dress better than you will never will.
Excellent video...probably GG's best, in my opinion.
I’ve been using old spice and aqua velvet since I was 16 lol
Very good video!
the ironic thing is - you're 30+ and dress like a 50 year old thinks he should dress...
There’s no way he’s 30. Looks 50 atleast.
@@richardle3212 no
I am not trying to look younger than I am. Undress the way I enjoy it
@@richardle3212 i replied to a video ages ago saying he looked about 50 (I'm 50) and someone replied saying he's in his 30s, so who knows... I still like to exercise now, check my videos...i do my bit :)

Richard le he is in his 30
Very good advice . You look so stylish Preston.
I'm 57 and in good shape, but my hair went white prematurely. I only seem to catch the attention of the Blue Hairs! lol
You are beyond precious and informative. Love this.
I don't care what way I look at any age - I will never give up my sneakers and sweat pants or hoodies (obviously never to work) - comfort all the way and if anyone has a problem with that thats on them
Enjoyed the video Sven ... Your videos are very informative 😎
I'm 54 and I figured out the secret to looking younger: I only date 19 to 20 year old women.

I'm sure that if you look around Preston's attic you can find his very own "Dorian Gray's Portrait"
Just use the search function
nice of the information. Thanks for the advise
Most of his suggestions are also geared towards out of shape dad bodes..older guys in shape can look good in more fitted clothing.
Thanks! Another great video!
I usually wear sports clothing and shorts but thank god I’m a rollerskating fanatic so I have a reason to wear it all day 🤣
I second the lady in the comments. SKIN CARE! EXERCISE! SLEEP! DIET! are most important.
Well done today. Especially liked the linen shirt you were wearing
You have taken over Hercules Poirot’s entire wardrobe.
Great video. And a nice aerial view of Chattanooga's AT&T Field.
there is no such thing as mistake when an older person feels comfortable with what he wears and does!
Turned 42 today. Love linen!! Great video!
The humour on this channel just gets funnier and funnier. Great video.
Really liked the last outfit; I missed where to purchase the hat! ❤️
A rundown of where to purchase the shirt, pants, shoes, and belt would also be great!
Thank you for your videos!
