- The full, edited-together episode of the ITV arts show broadcast on March 5th, 1995: Melvin Bragg interviews the American dramatist Edward Albee. The programme presents an overview of Albee's career from his first play 'The Zoo Story' to 'Three Tall Women'. I do not own the copyright.
So glad he went into A Delicate Balance. My favorite and a very complicated play.
Probably the best interview he ever gave, thanks to Melvin Bragg a great interviewer ☯ However I saw Three Tall Women on Broadway and hated it; reminded me of the ridiculous ending of 2001. His others are really little more than alternative theater off off B'way (sorry Edward). 😒 However I agree that WAOVW is one of the 4 greatest American plays. 💙.
Truly fascinating stuff
3 Tall Women is probably his best play.
Wish there had been some discussion of "Tiny Alice", a play I have struggled to understand.
Tiny Alice is bunk. Best left unsaid !
Small point: in the film at least it was the eve of their "son's" 16th birthday (not 21). Maybe it was changed in the screenplay.
The screenplay changed quite a bit, though what it did keep was largely faithful, but the son’s age was definitely changed.
Suddenly Last Sumer corroborate with Albee's take on Williams.
This show was on BRAVO, the Film and Arts Network, aahhhh what a loss when it was stolen by the anti-arts coalition in 1999
