Thanks Quinton! very informative. basically, every photographer out there providing a service for which we charge needs to have a solid contract in place outlining how, when and where we will use the images/footage and what happens to the personal information of each of our clients. It is time for us to all lawyer up!
Thanks Steven! For those still needing a contract, we have a great contract template on the Hunters of Light: huntersoflight.co.za/product/photographer-contract-template/
What if I take street photos and sometimes people will be photographed as they themselves interested me ? And what if I publish those photographs in a book for my own income ? I had no contract with them; they are in the street , I don't know them .
It is a tricky one, if you photograph someone for tour own gain, you need a release form. If they are in a crowd of people as an event, then you can create that content, but only use it for a book/website/etc for that event. It is a tricky one, you can get sued if an image is sold without their consent. Trouble is it will cost money to sue and for you to defend.
