It's not that simple. DCB's M31, a smaller, lighter boat, with twin 1350's is running 170 in 6 inch chop. With another 300hp, it may run 180-185. Bacardi Skater has only ever set 190+ runs running in one direction. Everyone knows that to have a legit record, you have to average both directions. Budlight mystic ran with either alcohol engines, or Merc 1075's, neither of which propelled it faster than 180 going two ways. Anything else over 180 is either turbine, alcohol, or bigger than 1500.
7mileBud for one vees are more enjoyable to drive. actually takes skill to drive a vee fast. I'd take a vee also. cats get boring after awhile once the speed factor is reached
Did you guys ever think about trying a skater and what did you say to each other when MAXED OUT passed you in the NYC poker Run. I bet you spent 500k more than than they did to get to skater speeds. Nice boat though.
i saw this boat in KW 2009, ihave to say less than impressed considering all the hype. cat killer? that was against poker run boat not full blown race boats. 3000HP could make a barge go fast!! come on, i would put an outerlimits against this with the same HP any day!

Cats are fine under perfect conditions. I watch skaters and mti's get chewed up by centre counsels as soon as a little bit of white start showing the tips of the waves.
well it would depend on the conditions that day and the set up each team make in advance. 3 or 4 ft chop cats all day. calm cats all day. 6 ft plus vees take it. but again setup and prep, as for me i like vees for under deck comfort and cats for speed n sexy

Pass Blocker MTI ran 185 with Merc 1650s. Mercedes Benz MTI ran 193 with Merc 1550s.
If that boat only went 100 mph I'd still take it over a cat. Cats are nice, and undoubtedly faster than v's but I'm just not a cat boat person.
