I, too, dash back when cornered Kappa.
Nice Video! I also struggle a lot with reacting properly, which really sucks because tech chasing is a big part of my Gameplan, so I waste way too much potential by always trying to read the Tech Option because I don't trust myself to react in time (and even when I attempt to, I somehow misread the Tech and punish it wrong).
The few Times I did successfully calm myself down and play way more patiently though, I was on Fire and it felt really good.
My main Problem with "reacting" as Mac though is, that I always fear unreactable Burst when I'm near them, so I shield, thus get grabbed very often and thrown off-stage for it, which then may lead to Death. Dashing back has me be much safer, but also gives up lots of Pressure (and usually they won't throw out Attacks anymore once I gave them Space). To be fair though, giving up Pressure at the Ledge in Favor of getting Center Stage and thus not risking my own Life for a Read has *dramatically* increased my Tournament Success and helped me consistently beat Players better than me, that rely on me dying off-stage.

pre-emption = "early reaction". that's what preemptive means, yes. Preemptive actions is based on predictions; before the fact, based on data/gut feelings/etc.
