Fights need retooling and rebalancing, but honestly Vegaful feels like a fun ride. It doesn’t try and tell a complex story like the other games but I think that’s fine. It’s just a wacky ride through a familiar yet different world.
@@zanethezaniest274 yeah it's just plain fun , lunatic mode after playing through normal is so fun. The early game is really tough in normal but when you get three members off the bat ( lunatic) it's so smooth
You fight this guy once in normal mode and 3 times in Lunatic, build up for this fight is intense, and the song rocks! Shame the actual fight is easy since he's got no resistance towards paralysis, so Big L's Bracelet makes this fight a breeze
dude I don't even need paralysis, gravitational drop carried me throughout the entire game, fargo's boys were the last challenging fight of the game honestly
The creepiest thing about paulie isn't his ominous, devilish grin stapled onto his face, or even his intimidating size, it's his body. That weird, beetle-like shell and those quadriped-like body proportions, coupled with his more human characteristics like his hair and skin. It's genuinely like some sort of eldritch abomination you'd only see in the nightmares of the most twisted minds of the human race. It makes you think how joy mutations might not necessarily be limited to just expanding and contorting the pre-existing flesh and bone of the human body.
Might be a personal perspective, but Paulie's looks, the shell, which looks more like a turtle's shell, and his state as an almost unstoppable calamity through the game make me think of the Tarasque (the mythological one, not the D&D monster)
I'll cite Marco Spindola's reply from another comment: "If you have 1000 mags and enough luck. You can head to the barrel casino and win exactly 10 times. After you win 10 times. Head to the room where you play blackjack and a barrel bro with a gun will demand that you give him 1000 mags. If you give him the mags. He will then bust open a hole to a secret area. Go outside of the casino and enter the hole where 3500 mags will be at the edge. Thats when big Paulie will jump you and the fight begins"
I'll admit, I really really like this theme. While I can't deny it sounds very anime opening-ey, the change in soundfont really fits the fight, as big paulie is, in the context of vegaful and LISA as a whole, unlike anything you've ever fought before. He's the only joy mutant you fight multiple times to my knowledge. And I totally agree, the new theme is utterly atrocious in comparison, but I'm still looking forward to hearing the next one :)

@@no64256 Yes, it's a default MIDI, thought it fit well for something of Stock FL, it was a nice breeze to use the tools that started it all, the DOOM Soundfont it's just edited MIDI samples, most are unchanged while some have different reverb effects and stereo.

People seem to have pretty mixed opinions on Vegaful as a whole, but it had some pretty good original songs imo
