While FPL is an escape from everyday life, it truly can be toxic. I do my best to not let it impact me negatively when I have a bad week but it is not always easy. We should also look at our mood related to FPL, how that affects are decisions and just overall wellbeing. I completely agree I won't remember this bad gameweek in a year, two or even five. Great video as always Ross, really liked your Mental Health bit. People sometimes forget that FPL is like choosing dice, some dice have higher numbers on them and some are weighted more favorably to big numbers than others, but in the end, all dice can roll 1 and higher numbers. Just make sure your dice are rolling (players actually play) and you do your best to choose the favorable dice; the rest is down to luck.
Thanks for your work on “FPL and mental health”. I find a lot of the things you talk about can be applied to life in general as well as FPL. You’ve signposted a few techniques I believe I can use to improve my own mental health. Cheers.

Great video again Ross and some great advice. As somebody who has struggled with my mental health in the past I get where you are coming from with not wanting to hear "its just a game". I can't speak for everyone who struggles but I know when I was at my lowest rationalisation goes out of the window. It is just a game and even if you are really passionate about it which is great, it shouldn't impact on you that much if you have most of your other ducks in a row (job, family, friends, health etc). Chances are if you are struggling more than you ought to be about a game then something else important in your life isn't making you happy.
I agree with this sentiment, it's very unlikely that it is only FPL causing negative mental health, it is likely an extension of another factor impacting your life in a negative manner. Thanks for sharing your experience mate

I help out with a local mens mental health charity called Project Talking Football which helps guys come to terms with their feelings and anxieties based around a game of football. Really appreciating the mental health segment. I think as a Spurs fan I’ve learned over the years that in the moment when we have a setback the feeling of sadness is intense however, I tend to have almost forgotten about it by the evening or next day. I think with FPL I struggle to detach after a rough GW. What has helped is doing things completely unrelated to football in general like connecting with nature, gym, focusing on my family, clients & things that are in the bigger scheme of things so much. Also, you’re right regarding the long term. Before you know it, you’ve all but forgotten about it all. Cheers.

I filled out the survey on mental health in FPL and for me it is a game that leaves me at the worse frustrated after a bad week but not necessarily low. But I still came away with so much after watching the segment on mental health and recommend you all do because this is so much more than just about FPL.

the wait in between taking a penalty kick from when it`s rewarded does affect the players.....hence why players,who are not the penalty takers are now holding the ball,getting all the opponents mind games and tricks thrown at them,then hand the ball to the kicker when it is time to kick

I look at 'critical moments' in a game... either resulting in a goal or a 'miss. Almost every goal, there will be a 'critical moment' or two (or three etc).
my favourite thing about ALL of Ross's videos is that he always starts them with a massive grin - it's like he can't believe he gets to talk about FPL every day to thousands of people and he shows how happy he is with that. While watching this video, after you mentioned that you take notes while the games are happening, it got me wondering: on average, how many EPL games do you watch in full? Or do you mainly watch extended highlights? Also, I agree with the top comment, you seem to have a really chill personality, which makes you easy to listen to! Love it, bro!
Thanks for the mental health piece. Very important to talk about it. Whether poor mental health is related to FPL or not. Highs and lows in FPL are normal and being invested in it is why it’s fun to play. But if you can’t escape the lows, then it’s important to talk about it. Mental illness is a massive problem so it’s important to normalise speaking about it.
Would like an idea of what percentage of active managers are WC by GW6. Im hoping to save it for later in a way of playing against the crowd. Got an ok team (Salah/Haa) and 450k OR.
Ross, adding my two bit to the psychology of playing FPL. First, don't have high hopes every GW! Expect less from your team and you will always be happy with whatever score you get! Secondly, enjoy the process, the complete process of managing your team. The changes you envisage, the decisions you make again without having too many expectations. Watch and listen to your favourite content creators but try and make your own decisions so that you don't blame others! In my case I watch you of course, Harry, Oscar, Andy, Fran and few others like FPL Now and FPL Tips!
The solo podcasts are still brilliant Ross. Keep the head up mate. Still so early in the season. Plenty of time to claw it back yet. Points are still so clustered right now. Rank is still not really essential right now
With Forest being considered a decent defense I’m surprised Sels is never mentioned among GK options. Had him from the start and happy. Fixtures going forward are decent as well.

Ross, adding my two bit to the psychology of playing FPL. First, don't have high hopes every GW! Expect less from your team and you will always be happy with whatever score you get! Secondly, enjoy the process, the complete process of managing your team. The changes you envisage, the decisions you make again without having too many expectations. Watch and listen to your favourite content creators but try and make your own decisions so that you don't blame others! In my case I watch you of course, Harry, Oscar, Andy, Fran and few others like FPL Now and FPL Tips!

With Forest being considered a decent defense I’m surprised Sels is never mentioned among GK options. Had him from the start and happy. Fixtures going forward are decent as well.
