Why is it surprising Starmer is committed to austerity. He made clear before the election he had a Tory view on economic policy. Also on equity in society. He is no supporter of socialist aspirations. . So no nationalisation of rail water, power or a wealth tax.

We SHOULD be cancelling the winter fuel allowance, because our Pensioners should be given an uplift of multiple thousands in pension rates. We have the lowest pension rate of every comparable western nation, the fact they even need a winter fuel allowance whilst energy companies rake in record profits is a clear example of a failing system.
Increase the pension level, make Starbucks, British Gas, Centrica, Amazon and the rest of them pay for it.
If you think these mega corporations are going to shut down their businesses and give up billions in profits over having to pay more tax I have a bridge to sell you, where are they going to go? We shouldn't be supporting unions poaching as it's as bad as crossing a picket. Joe shouldn't be talking to Daniel about support staff. Daniel shouldn't be talking about support staff. i am tired of listening to the poor pensioner rhetoric. If they are poor theta's their own fault, don't take my money to fund their failure to save for their retirement. Nearly all of them are sitting on hundreds of thousands of pounds of property they refuse to free equity from. That's hundreds of thousand's of pounds of assets workers don't have because many of these people took more than one home and go out of their way to object to housing for the workers paying their benefits.
