We SHOULD be cancelling the winter fuel allowance, because our Pensioners should be given an uplift of multiple thousands in pension rates. We have the lowest pension rate of every comparable western nation, the fact they even need a winter fuel allowance whilst energy companies rake in record profits is a clear example of a failing system. Increase the pension level, make Starbucks, British Gas, Centrica, Amazon and the rest of them pay for it. If you think these mega corporations are going to shut down their businesses and give up billions in profits over having to pay more tax I have a bridge to sell you, where are they going to go?
