I've owned quite a few high end Martins, and was impressed by the design. I even bought an SC-13e as my 'beater', and it's become one of my main acoustics. It sounds and plays that well.
nothing else sounds as good as a Martin-I grew up on that sound (dad had a 1945 D-28!) there’s a warmth in the tone without the loss of bright tones on the trebles-and it’s so balanced! i love how you talk about those details that make such a huge difference in playability-the perfect cut away and the neck design -great vid!
I played one of those at Sweetwater a couple days ago and it is hands down the best acoustic guitar I’ve ever played in my life! The Mexican SE models are killer too I played them at Sweetwater.
@@seandaniel23 I agree! I’m in there all the time about to go there now lol Last year I seen you there and wanted to meet you and say hi but every time I seen you were talking to someone. Hopefully you make an appearance this year at Sweetwater!
Diehard Martin and Gibson fan here and I simply hate cutaways. Having said that, these two sound pretty darned good together. Love the 000-45 or OM-45, definitely GAS-inducing since I've never had a 40-series Martin of any sort.
Very cool unboxing, demo and dialogue. The ergo of the cutaway and neck profile certainly have their appeal for someone who uses upper register real-estate. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Aura VT enhance for a few reasons. 1. battery life is horrible. 27 hours? I get 4-6 months on a 9V from my Baggs Anthem or Baggs HiFi PU's. 2. The Enhance thumbwheel may add some top resonance for tapping and percussive thumping, but it sounds worse to my ears when any "Enhance" is introduced. (Personal preference) I just had an Aura VT Enhance removed from my Martin OM-28 Custom Cutaway a few days ago. Replaced it with a Baggs Anthem and it is more musical. (IMO)
It sounds very warm and articulate like my OM 28. Less overtone, less air moving, a more tame low end, very balanced. I don't like holes in my guitars. I like passive pickups that I can swap out, when the latest electronics become obsolete. Build one with sinker mahogany, a torrified top, no electronics, and a flat finished fast neck.. That would sure be expensive. Somebody would buy it.
Ive played the SC13e and SC13e special and loved it. Haven't bought one yet since I was waiting for an all solid wood version, but the price tags of the SC18 and 28 are a hug turnoff Do you happen to know if Martin is planning on making something between 13 and 18 that's at maybe $2K max? 😃
Hi'i, Sorry, I've been playing for 60 years. I've owned most brands. Always wanted a Martin. My wife bought me an SC13e during the COVID debacle. NIGHTMARE!!! i.e The fret sprout slit my hand right of the box. And it went down hill from there. "Fool me once." Bought a Firefly last fall for $!49, on sale. Guess which one sits in the case. Oh, the Martin case broke too! Shalom/gw
I picked up an SC-13e for just over $1k, and for that, it's more than worth it. It sounds incredible, the neck feels like it's from an electric guitar, and the fret access is amazing. The design thru me off initially, but playing one changed my mind.
@@michaelvarney. 😂🤣😂 Mine pays fine, the SC-13 is my beater guitar, and I highly recommend it! I like it as much as my 00EC and my Taylor 714ce, and I can take it places I'd never take the others, including an SC-28.

I know musicians that take guitars upwards of $20,000 + on gigs. Happens all the time at Bluegrass festivals where 40s and 50s Martin guitars are everywhere.
Like all guitars you unbox and recommend, this is NOT available for lefty’s. This is so frustrating! Not a single Martin, D’Angelico, Carbon Fiber, Traveler guitar model (and others) you’ve shown on your (awesome) RUclips videos come in a lefty version. It’s ridiculous. I get it that lefty’s are only about 10% of the population, but the disparity is glaring when SWEETWATER has over 5,000 electric guitars for righty’s and only about 275 for lefty’s. I checked those numbers today. Martin doesn’t even have a filter for Left Hand dexterity on their website. Neither does D’Angelico. It’s beyond disheartening. 😢 I took up guitar last year and have learned so much from you. In fact, thanks to you, I’m well past mere “cowboy chords”, have a solid grasp on music theory, pentatonics, chord inversions, etc. I’m ready to upgrade from my starter electric and acoustic guitars. However, none of the ones I want are available for a left handed guitarist. It’s bad enough my brain has to reverse everything I see online for lessons because it’s all right handed. I’d at least like to be able to buy the better guitars that you often showcase.
YEP SEAN ! and, I have " IT " ! The 2008 "Arua" Dreadnaught ! I have 2 duplicates estimated by Martin at: $9,700.00 ! plus: a complete "CUSTOMized Martin Jumbo" at" $8,900.00 also to replace ! Ol West

That model has got my interest. It's innovative.
Wait. I had to do an instant replay on the knife opening it was so fast!
He’s speedy
Sounds like he’s doing an impression of bill hader doing an impression! Awesome playing guys love your work

Samurai's flatpicking really does sound like it's gotten so much better!
was expecting an unboxing with a Samurai sword
... what a missed opportunity.
Didnt get Any Danger AT ALL.😉

I bit the bullet and got the SC13e special and love this guitar
Did Samurai introduce you to the music of Lenny Breau? (While in Winnipeg)

In my humble opinion, Martin is still the best mass produced guitar.
You didn't mention you can shim the neck angel.
👍😎
Lots of tension and ego in the air here. Love it!
🤣👍
All you need is 4K and this guitar can be yours. Another guitar most of us can only dream of owning.

I thought all I was gonna have to do was change video resolution
Get the sc13 and look for a higher paying job.

Would the pickup hard war not interfere with use of a sound hole feedback buster?
Great sounding guitar, but of course it would since it is a Martin. Gotta love Martins.

To bad there’s so expensive. I’d be afraid to gig with it
hope it sounds and feels great for $4000
i wish to own a martin or taylor one day, amen i will! (26/5/24 10:51pm)❤
Sweet. But €5000 here in Germany.
Who in the world would take a 4K guitar to gigs???

Real players avoid the 1!
@seandaniel23 team number 1 implied first to comment. You're good 👍 buddy and love you show

Too, pricey Martin needs some better sub 2000 guitars. Wife looks at me really funny when I say anything above 1000.
Not a fan of cutaway guitars give me a dreadnought any day.
No. They haven't made quality guitars for 3 decades. All about marketing.
This guy is unbearable and fills my head with thoughts of Jeff Jarrett
I’ll take that as a compliment!

Fair enough. I'll try to insult you better, next time👍🏻
