nice to meet you. That's great, motor paragliding...it's really popular in Western countries. I'm Japanese, but it's not that popular in Japan, and I only see a small number of people there. I think the reason it hasn't become popular is because it costs money and there aren't many places to do it. I'm 58 years old, and I'm thinking of getting my license in a few years, but I'm hesitant because the financial aspect is the biggest problem. I have a fleeting dream of flying overseas someday, such as the United States, the European Alps, or Scotland in the United Kingdom, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult financially...I'm studying by watching various videos. I'm looking forward to your future videos. I would also like to express my deepest condolences to your friends Jeff and Brandon. Please enjoy your time and be sure to put safety first and avoid any accidents. From a dreaming boy in Japan... (Note: This comment was translated using a translation app. Please forgive me if there are any typos or omissions.)
For the initial footdrag I highly recommend some crops field. You touch the top of the crops, the resistance is low and you safely learn how to fly horizontally. Also, to get out of your seat forward onto your straps might be a good idea - you have more clearance between your prop and the ground (or water!) and you are basically ready to run just in case you're too low. Best Regards!
I'm feeling willy-nilly lol! This was a really cool aspect IMO because I don't paramotor and it looks like quite a bit more work to do all this with a butt-fan. Great episode!!
Water foot drags are best with the wind That way you have more airspeed in the water does not drag you in it gives you the water ski effect . Foot drags over hard ground into the wind that way you’re going slow so if you mess up the road rash is not as bad
As always a great video how you do tricks. Not a teaching video. I noticed you didn’t do a spiral, just fast turns. Paraglider Pilot perspective: Asymmetric spiral has nothing much in common with a spiral. It’s a wing over lead in by a wing over usually after 3rd pulled on the same side. An asymmetric spiral is taught after you’ve learned wingovers because it has higher dynamic energy. Info: 12m/s descent rate for Sat entry. Start training spiral upto -12s/m then you’ll be more prepared for Sat. Higher if you can stand it the better. Haven’t used motor for tricks yet - I always turn mine off and stow the throttle under the leg.
@TuckerGott - Bro...a better lens on that chase cam water foot drag could be a prise winner photgraph or video. Like long game play for solar position (near sunset & aligned w/ spillway) then some clouds and that glass like water & your skills...I can see it...hope you can ;-)
So question- proper energy management to kill a wingover session (without cheating and going into a spiral) would be to start pulling brake later in the swing? I wasn’t aware that timing earlier was building and later was killing. No wonder mine get so big so fast haha. I thought the timing was kind of set in stone and pulling early just means it’s safer so you never run the risk of going slack. So I suppose proper killing would be incorporating tiny bit later and tiny bit less pressure wash time? What is the latest pull that is still safe? Around 7-8o’clock ?
VIDEO IDEA, do a spin off of Hot Ones. Like Fly a tandem to a fast food place while doing an interview. Maybe start with friends and family? "Talk and Eat at 2000 Feet"
Why do you carry (and sell) just a square reserve? What do you find undesirable about the steerable triangles? Would you be so relieved at escaping an aerial incident that trees or hydro lines are less of a concern?
I'm a little late to getting to this video, but I would like to add my experience here anyways. I am a very lightweight pilot with a light motor, but fly a really big floaty glider. I would like to get a glider that is more appropriately sized, but can not currently afford it. With my setup, my glider does not have very much roll control, which makes many of these maneuvers difficult (or possibly impossible). I have flown for about 2 years, but have not been able to progress much past past wingtip-to-horizon wingovers. Another thing is that I can't do foot drags. I think my carburetor switches jets right at the straight and level flight throttle level, and I can't keep a consistent altitude. I'm also pretty sure that a large glider does not retain energy very well, so I can't use my brakes for precise inputs.
@@TuckerGott I fly a Medium sized Gin Bolero 4 (28m I believe) and a miniplane top 80. I haven't actually checked my weight, but it is calculated to be about 82 kg. The paramotor weight range for my wing is 105-130kg from what I have found.

Or dare is say, stupidity 😂
I think if you subscribe to this mindset, you shouldn’t be flying at all. If there’s too much risk in some basic maneuvers, there’s too much risk leaving the ground. It would be like getting a motorcycle but never leaning it over. You are flying around completely unaware of several layers of performance your glider possesses just by pointing it at the ground. What if one day you need to do a steep turn to avoid a collision or a collapse puts you into a dive and you have absolutely no idea how to manage energy? I would argue learning some advanced maneuvers actually makes you a safer pilot.
