Hear that echo... this guy sold off ALL his furniture for this video card. Damn!
Yea..... he's a fool.... shoulda waited for the Strix 5090
In my opinion the Design of the strix 30 was much better, but the backplate of the 4090 strix looks insane.
I'm dying to see the test results. They made too much hype for double the performance. I'm also interested in what AMD will release and at what prices.
They always promise double the performance, but then it stays at 20. 30 or with a lot of luck 40%.
Maybe with DLSS they get it, but in pure rstarization power I don't think it exceeds 30%
That camera shake when you set the card down is so appropriate
yea i jiggled when it shaked multiple times lol
i was just thinking that as i pulled up the comments
Its the raw power being unleashed like a shock wave.😊
it literally caused an earthquake
Asus Strix are always nice cards.
They are ugly this time around.
Price 🤯🤯
Look at the size of those things! It's ridiculous
thats what she said!
Can't wait till nxt wed bro, thanks for the video.
geez how big would a casing have to be to fit this thing?!
The camera shakes at 6:30 tell you how much of a chonker this thing is
So the 3090 TI and the 4090 all have the 12VHPWR plug. But with the 3090 TI the adapter was just a 12 pin adapter without the 4 pins (same adapter as the normal 3090 but minus 1 8 pin). While the 4090 has the 12+4 pin adapter. So im wondering, if the 3090 TI who has the same plug as the 4090 worked without the need of those 4 pins. Shouldnt the 4090 do the same? Or do you NEED those 4 pins? The 3090 TI and 4090 PCBs are not that different. So in theory, what worked on the 3090 TI, should work on the 4090.
I agree with the earlier comments, as most people have their rig on the desk, how the card looks is important as we stare it everyday. Making it look good is part of he fun. I was lucky to get hold of one today and was after a 4090 with low noise level. They should have done a better job in the aesthetic on the front of the card as I vertically mount and want my build to be perfect. Maybe it will grow on me… might have to do some DiY to make the blue and red go away. My favourite Strix design is my current card - ASUS Radeon STRIX OC LC.
why font at the like copy one 🥲🥲 different than before
So these GFX cards will cost more than the cost of the new PC build! Damn..
If it's that massive why is the bracket only 2 slots?
i wish they went with a 3 slot pci connector bracket as well...like nvidia did. the nvidia one is rock solid when you plug it in, doesn't have weight issue, but these are held with just 2....a bit of a lazy move by asus on these expensive cards
most (good) 650+ psus come with 4x8 pcie though, if we ever need those
my new MSI ATX 3.0 power supply has 1x16 and 4x8 ports
With the CPU under load, you’d end up pretty close to the max output with a 650W.
What the fuck is that?! That thing is giant!!!!!!! Literal brick
The whole e-peen extension jokes are going to be strong with this generation
What case would this monster be able to fit in?
Need to grow another kidney to pay for this bad boy.
You will be sitting gaming in your pants watching your money fly out the window on your electricity meter.
As the owner of a 3090 I can tell you they’re simply a heater - where will that heat go? Into your room
Exactly. I prefer less than 250W due to excess heat, especially in the summer. Which means I'll just stick to 1440p.
Perfect for my -30c winter then :)
Most cards at idle only use 20-30 watts. If you game a lot (or with mining) of course that will use quite a bit of electricity.
@@JarredWalton these cards are not made for mining, they are gaming cards, mining is finished - this is why the market is saturated with 30 series GPU's that miners no longer want. People will buy these to game with and they will sweat like gary glitter or jimmy saville at kinder garden. They dont buy these cards for them to sit idle, they buy them to game at full throttle - but then you know that surely right ? Your trolling me surely ;)
As the owner of a 3090, I figure there’s a good chance you were mining with it right up to the Ethereum Merge. You could still play games when you wanted, but even the most hardcore of gamers don’t usually play more than six hours per day on average. So, that’s maybe 600Wh extra per day compared to a 3090, or 1200Wh extra per day versus a 2080.
Even at $0.30 per kWh, which is nearly triple the national average, that’s only a quarter per day difference, or $7.50 per month. Surely anyone that can afford a $1,600 GPU won’t be particularly worried about the extra $90 per year? And if you pay $0.10 per kWh like I do, that’s only $30 per year.
I play games, but I’d say even with testing for my job, I probably only average ~3 hours per day over the whole year. I also likely average ~8 hours per day sitting in front of my screen over the year. So more than half the time, I’m surfing the web, reading email, or writing. And for all of those non-gaming tasks, I would rarely if ever notice the difference between a 250W or even 180W GPU and a 450W GPU.
Of course, it helps to have AC for the summers. If you don’t have that and your PC is in an upstairs room, yes, the extra heat while gaming would be noticeable. And back when GPU mining was a thing, it would have made for a roasting hot room if you had several GPUs in a rig.
So no, I’m wasn’t trolling, and I’m not suggesting people will mine on a 4090, at least not unless/until some new coin pops up where it would potentially make sense to do so.
Thanks for the video. I have an interesting question for deciding on case room for the Strix 4090. How much does the adapter stick out of the card to the point when you can bend it?
ie, from the point that the 4 pcie wires' wrapping start and can not bend until it sticks out of the card's 'wall'?
(the 12 pin plug recepticle is recessed from looking at the pictures. thus the distance I am asking for is less than the total wrap length and
the 12 pin plug length that doesn't actually go into the card's plug)
I ask since in my case with the 3090 Strix has just enough room to gently bend the 3 PCI-E power connectors before they touched the glass
side panel of the case. the height of the 3090 from motherboard toward the case wall is 14.01cm according to asus's website.
while the 4090 is listed 14.93cm. Thus it is closer to the side wall by almost 1cm. Then this adapter plug sticking out of the card adds more height before it
can bend.
I would say maybe an inch or two away from the card, depending on how hard you want to bend it. Might be best to get an ATX 3.0 PSU so you can skip the adapter.
I have Asus ROG strix 850g PSU, is it ok to run rtx4090?
My specs are :
Asus tuf z690 wifi
Intel 12700k
Corsair hi50i elite cappilex
Xpg d60g 64gb
Samsung 970evo plus
Seagate 2tb
Case is thermaltake view 71tg
This is not videocard anymore - this is cinder block :^/
So... What's next mr. Huang? Vcards like fridge? With ice fridge cooling?
I want the aorus master but rog strix looks great as well not sure which one i want lol
Ideally stock and OC benchmarks with temps. And for the sake of whatever, add Call of Duty to your benchmarks. Most of the people that are buying these insidious cards are like me and need the extra FPS to stay competitive in multiplayer FPS games. I don't need 200-300 FPS to play some sandbox game driven by some silly AI in a single player game.
What I'd like to see is stock vs overclocking of all those cards. While I like the idea of cooling of the ASUS OC, I know typically that Nvidia keeps their best binned silicon. I think a lot of people are also curious about how much headroom is in Nvidia's Founders edition cards. There's a big write up about all the big efforts they made in their vapor chambers, etc. So it would be interesting.
There's a point where these cars are getting so damn big that they won't even fit in cases. Making water cooling not necessarily an option but potentially a necessity.
.. I'm sidelining my RTX 3090 CPU-Z 9MM3CZ and CPU-Z 0099WW Also as a note that Alienware OLED monitor is total garbage for FPS gaming.
4:02 Did he say "Meine Güte!"?
Hallo aus Deutschland! 😉
Jawhol! Meine Mutti ist Deutsche, so I heard a lot of German growing up. Hahaha
@@JarredWalton Oh, cool! My mum is german, too! Well, so am I, haha.
I'm looking forward to the 4090, very likely the Strix OC as well, but I'll keep on saving further.
I ordered a 3080 Stric OC that's scheduled to arrive tomorrow.
I had to net me one of those beautifully designed RTX 30 Strix cards. 🙂
Man, don't sell all of yours furniture for latest hardware ^_____^
id be facing my cooler horizontally to suck out the hot trapped air.
Never if I want the crappy graphics card.
i'm done with NVIDIA's shit.
and its way way WAY to big
whole camera moves when placed downb lol
RX 7000 cards are rumored to support DP 2.0
How many BTU that thang got????
that is ... big
Behemoth
Какой вес у неё ?
The Nvida cards look super ugly and way to big. I really hope amd does something big this year.
2.5 Kg "subarashi" 😆
Wow, they should stop calling them cards from now on.
it's huge
We need quad slot 5090
Не интересно вообще ничего не показал где вскрытие предохранители !
Какие конденсаторы температуры памяти чипа !!!!!!!
Seems small compared to a car
thats what she said!
can you send me one card i have 1070 and i cant play warzone 2
i paid 2100 from microcenter for a 3080ti oc from assusstrix ....Dallas Texas
why you do that ????
AMD have better option 👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈
Jesus that's a fucking rip off m8. I just ordered a dual-slot design 3080Ti from inno3d for $710. Brand new.
Jesus christ holy echo... ;)
thats what she said!
1x fan for Founders Edition, 3x fans for AIO card... 3x fans better, right?
Founders has two fans ^^
@@ChowdongsFameCrew Oh, the other one isn't apparent in the photos I guess. Still, 2x or 3x? :)
@@videosbymathew 3x is probably better, but it's just as much about the heatsink efficiency and thermal transfer ability. I had a HP 3070 which looked kinda like other 2x cards, but it was quite bad due to a too small heatsink. It got hot and was loud.
@@tbnzet So the AIO cards don't use the reference heatsink and all of that and can build their own in too?
@@videosbymathew Yes, every 3rd party manufacturer pretty much designs their own heatsinks. The water cooled AIO models are very different, though they're not common and quite expensive. But, every 3rd party air cooled model is also different from the reference Founders edition. Some are slightly better, some quite a lot better, but often bigger and more expensive. But some are actually worse than the Founders ed., like the HP 3070 I had, which came in a prebuilt PC.
it's yuuuuuuuge :O
Their company is a liar. I bought 3 4090s from them. After paying 4000 euros, they blocked me. My four months salary was lost.
а что фон такой скудный, всё ушло на видюху, ахахахахахахахахахахахах
Too expensive, way too much power draw and as such way too much heat and I’m just not buying a new PSU
I’ll stick with my 3090 Strix thanks
All AMD GPU"s are cheaper thanks NGreedia 👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈
This series is worse than 400 series or at least on par. I'll just skip, no real benefit and nVidia needs to learn it's place.
$2000 each. Nice Scalping again..🤔😅. Expected. Yeah make it $4000 each bettet then..scapler.😄
This is the one I want but at $2000 no thanks
Good thinking, AMD have a better option around $700 🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐
Plastic rgb stick
Ugly gpu disappointment asus
Is he THE Tom's hardware ?!?!... cmon man I could do better than this !...
ugliest card ever!!
11:50 strix oc should go to near 2700 mhz ^^ even a gainward goes 2610
Maybe the tuf has that stats
I’m giving official specs, not how far you can manually overclock. Spec has OC mode of 2640 MHz.
ASUS only gave the stock OC mode. With manual OC this GPU can easily reach 2.8 GHz maybe even 3 GHz if you really want to push the limits.
Talk about a lazily made video. No mic, no stabilization, etc…and every article has 5+ spelling errors on your site. What’s happening to Tom’s Hardware?
3090 much nicer aesthetically than 4090 10000%
at this point I think you wanna water cool that beast and thus the design doesn't really matter anymore
It's always fun to see people justifying the previous generation when new cards come out so you don't have to upgrade. It's the same routine every launch since dawn of gaming GPU.
@@mrspaz9543 Behold a toxic sample of this community. Dear “Sir”, i won’t upgrade just because i have no tower(lol) .
Im in the process of building one and ill definitely get a 4090, thats why im watching these videos anyways.
Finally I’m giving you some facts here.
Check the Strix 3090 vs Strix 4090 and ask yourself… which GPU looks best?
If you answer 4090 you have zero taste.
@@duffel87 yuuuuup, the 3090 looks so much better
@@mrspaz9543 I don't have any of thise cards and I'd still say the 30 series strip is one of the prettiest card designs ever if not the best. This new one sucks and I'm not trying to justify shit lol.
You know they've got loads of this sht when you see every reviewer get multiple cards.
Ide say 70% of potential buyers are going to need a new case, possibly a new PSU and/or a new motherboard?
You forgot floor reinforcement. Cards not to be operated on the second story and up.
2023 : A gpu as big as Itx PC
2053 : A gpu as big as E atx pc
2083 : An electric car is smaller than my GPU
In the year 2525, the earth is smaller then my GPU.
It's not the camera shaking it was the entire house.
Is that what that was, we thought it was a earthquake.
I wish I was single again so I could afford one of these strix 4090
Easy just divorce her, then you go single again and you can buy this GPU
🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐
The Rog Strix canoe looks a little bigger than the other ones, but I think that it should still fit on to my trailer. Oh that's a GPU....
Yeah I thought it was a warship but turns out it’s just a gpu. Guess I’ll buy my warship for $1million and $10 somewhere else now. *sigh*
Too much money for a GPU
Also Asus brand is the Expensive one
Too bad we lost EVGA 👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈👈
Frankly, I think it's moronic for Nvidia, AMD or even Intel not to have DisplayPort 2.0 on their current generation GPUs. My Alienware OLED is already fully saturating DisplayPort 1.4a, in fact I have to reduce the color depth to 8-bit dithered color instead of full 10-bit at 175Hz.
I'm purchasing an RTX 4090 and I'm looking at the newer 45-in 3440x1440 OLEDs that support 240 Hz to 260 Hz which only leaves HDMI 2.1. I'm a huge fanboy of Nvidia's G-Sync and to date if only used it only on DisplayPort along with monitors that have the dedicated G-Sync module and never on HDMI, and while I know HDMI supports G-Sync, I don't know if the optimized G-Sync module supports it. New waters here...
Around $2500 Cdn for a rtx 4090 is a tough pill to swallow.
They overcharg😭e u $500 more in Canada again!! Omg..! So many scalpers store in Canada.
you also need a Godlike X670E mobo
Just don't buy it and buy affordable one from AMD 🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐🖐
actually 2759... and with 15% tax 3173$....
PLEASE GIVE ME A VIDEO CARD BECAUSE I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO SAVE UP IN KYRGYZSTAN IN MY LIFE
good video but you've gotta get a better mic. The echo is horrible, definitely would benefit from good mic.
It’s not the mic, it’s the dining room. I decided to try a different location, as my office is a bit crowded with stuff right now.
there's that glitching peppino meme going around showing this video card. what exactly is wrong with it?
Overpriced ....now every blogger selling it when they get it for FREE
so the 4090 requires a new PSU and a PC case. Eventually, you'll end up spending more money.
Yeah, unless you rock with at least a 1200 watt PSU and a full tower.
Supreme Liquid looks so cool ☺
Bad design. The airflow needs to concentrate flow out the back to keep the hot air out of the case. How could ASUS miss this basic and obvious necessity? - Crazy, especially at this price.
Let me start by saying the 30 series strix cards look 10000% better! Also the 4090 cards are just to big! Itx builds are gone! and for over $2k! Get the %@#$ out of here!
i've seen so many unboxing vid of 4090, none of them (except JayzTwocents) actually put them in the case. We wanna see if any of the case fits it god damn it.
performance isn't everything Comfort matters too, going to wait maybe 4070 come at 220-250watts better for room temperature plus i can reuse my case.
Looks way worse than the old one
Ну а тесты где?
Not a fan of the look. Looks like an ugly brick. 3090 strix looked way nicer !
So when are we going to start calling then graphics bricks, card is no longer justified.
It's like a walking monster, I can feel the shaking 😂
Who tf designed this, looks so dam weird, the 30 series look so much better.
Can I overclock this card even more if I choose to just asking
Asus wtf were you thinking with that blue and red Pepsi look.
What is the check number on the box?
I cant register mine on asus
the blue and red color on the bottom was such a huge mistake lmao
that things gay. only waterblocked cards are the real goods
Can I buy your 4090 using BTC. Shipping to China.
Glad I do subtitles, cause your soundstage is ghastly
Лет через 20 видеокарты будут размером с чемодан!😁😅🤣
240hz 4k monitor recommeneded for this?
ew this asus card too big and ugly, msi better
The camera shakes makes it look a lot heavier :D
The what October 12th?! ..... I thought that's the date you can actually purchase the RTX 4090, at least that's what I have on my calendar. I hate when they expire their NDA the same exact day is launch. It's pretty douchy. I know it's beyond your control.
Good job Tom!
1200w psu enough?
