I have some from LRB as well. It is a great buy and adds some real interest to a scape. It It a lighter green in color and I think of it as a brightener.

Happy Anniversary to you both! I just want to share my experience with this plant that I wish I knew before buying. Seachem excel and all liquid carbon supplements will melt this plant. Also, don’t bury the crown of the plant deep into the substrate. Bury just the roots and a little bit of the crown to keep it down. Usually when you buy these plants the roots are quite small, so I place a small lead weight around it and it keeps the plant down and the roots are able to grow and send out runners no problem. I actually bought some twisted Val a few days after seeing your video. I've had standard straight Val before but I have to say I do prefer this twisted variety as it looks really good in my tank. I'm a viewer from England btw!!
I have a ton of it in my 60 tall. Its sadly one of the only plants that does well lol its sending runners a long the back wall which is perfect! Hopefully i'll have a background of val soon

My wife went to a pet store in the city she works in to get jungle val for my tank.... she came back with this LOL, it was pretty small and not very "twisty" yet so i really didn't notice. I separated it into three smaller bunches and into the substrate it went. I have pretty bright flood lights hanging over the tank, clean water and co2 injection. it spreads FAST. I wanted the super big and tall jungle val for a back ground, but this stays more medium size and it spreads quick, when it gets thick the light shimmers off where it twists and looks super cool. I know have it more middle/front in the corner of my 75 gal with jungle val behind. its mixed in with big drift wood that has java fern on it. Its my favorite combo so far for sure.
I love corkscrew val it was the first plant I bought at my local fish store. I love grasses and when I saw it I had to have it, plus it's budget friendly. I have short versions and long versions. It also got me into Vesuvius sword. I'm gradually filling up my tank...I could literally have a tank full of tall Vals, corkscrew Vals and Vesuvius... nothing else. Also, the green is such a nice shimmery green...in high light you get a touch of reddish bronze...just a bit to make it glow. Happy Anniversary!

Hoping you can help me, Joanna. I have a 29 gal aquarium, one of the Aqueon kits with the LED lights built into the hood. But, I can't seem to get vallisneria to grow. My tank has been set up since mid January (2022), has a good variety of fish thriving well, and all my other plants including anacharis, several crypt undulata, dwarf sagittaria, anubias minima, all of which are thriving. But my first try with jungle val withered and died over a course of 6 weeks. 3 Weeks ago I planted 10 corkscrew val, all looking very bright and strong when I got them. but have since melted away nearly half the leaves and don't seem to be propagating. I have Eco Complete substrate, and use a good water column fertilizer and root tabs (from Aquarium Coop). Do I need to just give the corkscrew val more time and patience? Or is there something more I can do to help without having to go out and buy a new light? Thanks!
I'll have to look for some of that. I'm trying to find more cheap, tallish plants to fill out my 40 breeder. Aponogeton bulbs are starting out quickly, and I've got guppy grass loosely anchored in a few spots. It's a lot of open space to fill, especially with fish that like some plant cover!
The aponegeton's grow quick. I have 5 and they are coming to the front of the tank. They provide a ton of cover, but they will block light. Also, about 6 inches of the leaf is actually stem, so I have trident fern in front of them
Is this spirilas? Thats what i ordered but mine is flat and the new shoots dont look anything like i got which are all green. These are yellowish brown, but growing well. Also, every leaf if flat...not a single spiral

I like putting vals into nano tanks in the background. Even if they get to tall, you could remove them and leave the newer ones that have spread around the tank. Or trim them or let them lay on top of the water. ☺️
I had that plant 9 years ago but man does it take over a tank. If you can Clíp it from over growing it’s beautiful but if you can’t without taking apart the tank then don’t do it

Trim at the base or it will die back
I’ve not noticed mine dying back after trimming, but you could also just remove the plant that’s gotten too tall by cutting the runner. ☺️
Vals should always been trimmed at the bottom. Leaves that are cut usually melt off.

It will do just fine in sand (that’s what I typically use) - just add a root tab for nutrients and don’t plant the Val too deep ☺️

I like putting vals into nano tanks in the background. Even if they get to tall, you could remove them and leave the newer ones that have spread around the tank. Or trim them or let them lay on top of the water. ☺️

I had that plant 9 years ago but man does it take over a tank. If you can Clíp it from over growing it’s beautiful but if you can’t without taking apart the tank then don’t do it

Vals should always been trimmed at the bottom. Leaves that are cut usually melt off.
