I don't know how you can't have any scratches on that hull! I have the same boat with the wood trim and it get scratched if you just LOOK at the wrong way! (and YES, I am very careful and try to take very good care of my possessions ) Not knocking the boat, its just very disconcerting after spending so much on a quality boat.

All resins scratch white so a black boat shows them a bit more. 303 UV protection spray often mutes them but most owners just consider them badges of honor from good days on the water. Ted Bell says he is most disappointed when he sees one of his canoes several years old without them! (Not being used). Thankfully, mine now has a few more scratches but I do choose my moments of hard use/impact and avoid moments of abuse (poor storage, dragging, running hard on shore if not needed). I get what you are saying but I’d try not to worry about it and use that canoe without fear that you can’t elbow grease it back to a nice look in the off season. There is a vid on the channel where I put about 3 years of scratches in one day on a brand new e6 BlackLite NW solo. Not what I wanted to do but once that day of scratches was behind me I found it a lot easier to focus on the good stuff while paddling! (Later sold the boat for the same amount I would have sold a pristine one for anyhow bc most know the white scratches are just cosmetic).

A couple questions. What trim would be the quietest when you set your fishing rod down on the gunnel? I don't want to spook the fish.
Can you permanently mount a portaging yoke in these solo boats and still sit or kneel or do you need removable? Seems like that could get old if you had a lot of short portages between lakes

      Wood Trim is quietest.
Regarding yokes, you have to use removable. It takes about 15 seconds to put in place. Solo clamp on yoke w CVCA pads is what I prefer!

Folks definitely do. My dad (almost 80) does so on the Mississippi River in MN.

@@HappyPaddlin Oh very nice! I love the concept of this boat for lake system portaging, camping and fishing but I was concerned I would tip over if I tried to land a big fish.

@@CampfireKodiak Skills factor in to! Time in Boat is the key...the more you know your boat the more those fish landing moments won't throw you off.
