That was a heartfelt and gracious thank you. I’m rather surprised there weren’t more comments like mine that reinforced virtually 100% of what you said. My first show was probably in 1978, and I too was the Rush guy of my friends and played their catalog over and over both on my turntable and in my mind. I’m sure their are many of us that have lived a nearly identical experience. Cheers to Neil and cheers to you!

Such beautiful words, Sterling. We are indeed so lucky to have been on this Earth at the same time as Neil, to experience his live performances, and live in the world that he wrote about.

I couldn’t like this anymore if I tried. Thank you for speaking the words that most of us haven’t been able to find since that tragic event. Retrospective II was also my first encounter with Rush. Specifically “Subdivisions.” I kept asking my father to play it on repeat and well, as they say, the rest is history. Rest In Peace, Professor, you are truly missed.

I do not know who you are, but you come across as an articulate young man who carefully chooses his words. That was an incredible homage to one of my heros. He inspired me to play drums as well and I had a good time with it - good luck to you. If you have not read his books, make sure you do. 🙂 I am sure you already have.

What an inspirational story of you sterling and being about 30 years your senior and a drummer I had a quite similar influence from Neil and rush’s music myself when I was 19 with the 1980 release of permanent waves I was hooked ever since and a genesis fan with one of the best and underrated drummers ever in Phil Collins and despite the age difference we are certainly on the same page with progressive rock music . With your deep passion for Neils work and your seemingly high intellect it’s no wonder how far you’ve come along and being spot on with your covers and any experienced drummer must admit that these song are quite difficult to cover . Hopefully you can inspire drummers of you age group and younger even though that’s becoming harder these days and give yourself credit for what you have achieved with all of your time and hard work rock on and keep up the good work my young friend !
