I can't be completely sure but the doll looks like it's a Yemaya Eggun doll. Sometimes she's referred to as Mama Francisca. My guess is that she's carrying her for stability and strength. It might also be an Afro-Carribean nod to her seapunk aesthetic as the goddess Yemaya is often times depicted as a mermaid. To be clear, if I am correct, the doll is not the orisha Yemaya but it represents an Eggun (a spirit guide or ancestor) that was crowned Yemaya in life. The distinction is subtle but important. More can be said but I'll leave it at that. I'm just speculating but I'm pretty sure this is what is going on here. I could be wrong. She might have her for entirely different reasons.
