I appreciate it.
Thanks for being the only one so far that went to the Japanese area. I definitely was curious about Japanese Brazilians
If/when you can, definitely visit that area on the weekend. It's a happening neighborhood
@@slyslife Bet
I used to live in that 25th apartment in front of Liberdade station and my parents had restaurants a street below. Weekend Liberdade street fare is going on for decades. It's fun, delicious and tons of different crafts and souvenirs to choose from. 👍
I used to live there with my folks when I was a teenager. It's always packed on weekends.
George Japan has also uploaded recent videos on Brazil and it’s Japanese culture, definitely recommend to check out :)
Few reasons, in my point of view, that explains why Brazilians don't speak English.
. People can move, travel, do business within long distances inside the country and the language is still Portuguese.
I guess it's kind of the same reason why Americans aren't good at a second language.
. Tourism is not the strength, besides the country's potential. So we don't see foreigners that often, especially out of the tourism routes.
. Third, the educational system barely teach the Portuguese itself.
Hope you're having a good time bro.
If you're coming to Minas Gerais I can give you some tips. Cheers
Não falamos inglês porque não fomos colonizados por ingleses duh 🙄
I lived downtown SP for months during 2020 COVID lockdowns. Seeing your videos brings back a lot of nostalgia,. Good times. Thanks man.
Their subway system is fantastic very clean very fast the Italian section has one of the highest skyscrapers with the excellent View
Sly that was a great tour, you showed a part of Sao Paulo I've never knew existed or even heard of and that there is a Japanese culture within this marvelous city. I like both Rio and Sao Paulo that both offer a unique experience.
Great content, Sly
Thanks for sharing sir
2 Canadians living in Mexico, Merida, sending support Cheers J&D 🇲🇽🇨🇦
Much appreciated!
I also recommend this restaurant in São Paulo, it sells traditional food from the state of Minas Gerais - one of the best cuisines in Brazil ❤️
It's called Consulado Mineiro
Consulado Mineiro da Praça - Praça Benedito Calixto, 74 - Pinheiros
Great video, that's the town I was born in. if you have more time there, here are some suggestions of places you can visit:
- Mercado Municipal (try the Mortadela Sandwich).
- Galeria do Rock (all kinds of different stores, Clothing, music, tattoo shops, skate shops, etc.)
- Beco do Batman (Lots of Graffiti)
- Avenida Paulista (São Paulo's Economic hub)
- vale do anhangabaú ( region in the city center of São Paulo, located between the viaducts do Chá and Santa Ifigênia. closed for cars, perfect for walking)
- Teatro Municipal (Theater)
- parque do Ibirapuera (gigantic Park)
...there is so much more, that should keep you busy, enjoy it!!!!
PS.: How were you able to walk by The Pastel(fried pastry) and Caldo de Cana(Sugarcane juice) stand and not have any of it??? LOL!!!!
Wow, thanks for all the recommendations. I'll try to hit a few of them up, but I won't be here for long. Also, I was saving stomach for the ramen lol
@@slyslife LoL, I don't blame you, looked delicious... Looking forward to more videos.
I wasn't quite sure that you were going here or not. Okinawa is basically Japan's Hawaii (ironic given that majority of people living in Hawaii are also Japanese). Yeah, manga is basically Japanese comic books. This may be the most poppin' place you have visited so far. Sao Paulo is Brazil's economic capital from what I understand (where the Brazilian stock exchange is located). The mall where they were selling that anime looked legit. This anime fan ain't hatin on it. The shirt at 21:46 is a DBZ shirt. And even with all the folks out, so many beautiful sights😎
Thanks for all the tips and Sao Paolo is truly a city that never sleeps for sure...Also, DBZ is the best anime ever - prove me wrong lol
@@slyslife No problem, thanks for the video. Me and you the same generation (that Toonami gen, 25 years now), so I won’t argue with you on the legacy of DBZ. Among the new generation, I put Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba up there with it-but that’s my opinion (sort of a Michael vs. LeBron thing for me).
Wonderful vídeo.
Great stuff Sly... enjoyable...
Good video bro! Thanks for bringing the receipts.
Always!
I never even knew Sao Paulo had a Japanese area this is amazing to see thank you so much for this behind the scenes footage truly eye opening ‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥
In Brazil, every year there is a Miss Nikkey contest, where the most beautiful misses from each state participate! ruclips.net/video/a9OVRE0n8RU/видео.html
Nice video man, and longer this time 👌🏿. So far what's your favourite part of Brazil?
Thanks and for sure it's Rio. But I'll need more time in SP to verify this.
@@slyslife Cool got you. Making me want to go back to Rio, not been for about 5 years. Watching from London, keep the videos coming!
Amazing, I miss Brazilian Japanese food so much 😊
Make sure you visit Rua Augusta (the nightclubs side) at night on weekends 👣
Thanks for going somewhere different than Rio. Yes I'll be there in August for the international BBQ festival. I'm not cooking just a spectator
Anytime and enjoy yourself👍🏿
Same for how Indians were brought to the Caribbean islands and parts of Africa .
Ah Sao Paulo, New York of South America. I love that neighborhood. I passed through there and had lunch when I was there in 2020. Great video!
Thanks for this video. I wanted to know what I was getting into when I visit. Um how was the Ramen noodles?
Great video! I enjoyed my visit there too. Sunday on Paulista vibrant if you have time
Thanks! Will do!
Saiu das feiras de rua e foi parar no shopping de muamba, típico rolezinho paulistano 🤣
That is the most crowded streets I have seen in 3 years man.
In fact, it's not expensive to learn english in Brazil. You can learn "for free"! I learned english by myself, just using apps, watching series, movies and trying to understand song lyrics. What happens is that most people in Brazil are accommodated in the local language. Many have difficulty understanding different accents. Also, many claim not to understand Portuguese from Portugal. LOL! Another thing that makes most Brazilians not speak English is that in public schools, English only becomes a subject from half elementary school onwards. And that's not the worst, the worst thing is that grammar is given before you even have a good vocabulary, you learn some words and you already have grammar exercises to do. That's why throughout school years, most people only learn the verb "to be", many don't learn... It's sad, but it's reality!
I couldn't care less if people speak English here and I'm Brazilian. I'd rather gringos learning our language than the other way around, we don't owe anything to foreigners, if they want to visit us, okay, no prob, fam, but they need to know a bit of Portuguese or else we will be the Nordic Countries where foreigners care less about learning their languages and get by only speaking English, betcha that their native tongue is dying.
This what I wanna see in Brazil 🇧🇷 13:12 I love the one in the middle
Ótimo vídeo
Obrigado

Great, it's almost like being there yourself
Liberdade is mostly Chinese nowadays. The Japanese moved to the suburbs long time ago.
Yea, I can see that

Can you do 90degrees on the corner of big street corners cuz u just walk around and missing some important buildings in your videos Tx.
There's a corner building at Rua dos estudantes and Rua da Glória is a half a block property that goes down till lower street , Rua conselheiro Furtado, where used to be girls only private school called colégio São José. It lasted over 150 years. Was one of 10 most famous schools in entire South America, catering to daughters of politicians and wealthy upper white classs. Originally, this building served as a convent for younger nuns , as a part of their accomodation and Roman Catholic studying. And had African slaves down the cellars. They used to go to the African church on the corner with liberdade avenue and Rua dos estudantes to do candle 🕯️ offerings. This tiny churches was built late 19 century when Brazil started to bring slaves in são Paulo. You missed this spot either.
And another hidden church that did sort of macumba, black Magic tô release African slave souls to be able to go back to their tribes in Africa. Honoring also their African ancestors.

10:30 I find it hilarious that Brazilians will take literally any opportunity to shit on Brazil! It’s bizarre and is a huge buzz kill.
