l have such mixed feelings about this movie but what I do appreciate is that each character was multi-layered not some perfect romantic version. This was a complicated story with complex characters. Some scenes were very hard to watch. People get married for so many different reasons and under so many different circumstances. I was very amazed that I was able to sympathize somewhat with the husband. I agree 100% that abuse is never the solution but I found both main characters had their own demons they were struggling with. Very powerful message. This movie will stay with me for a very long time. I highly recommend this movie.
This is another great drama by KBS. Thien could love someone who is so temperamental like her husband. And her husband that showed his love in extraordinary ways. Those are so heart touching.

Though the synopsis is confusing and literally has no connection or whatever to the drama itself, this drama was one of a kind. It gives a glimpse of sad reality about how immigrants not just in Korea but around the globe are treated. Mix or interracial marriage doesn’t always work. The couple here showed me how they express their love for each other without expressing it. Confusing right? But that’s how I see it. The sad ending is a mere fact that love isn’t always a fairytale that has a happy ending.
I watched this drama a few times,and it still catches my emotions. This situation of discrimination happens anywhere. It is important to know the culture, the language and one should be educated to survive in another country.

Well crafted plot in human tragedy. You warm up to the characters despite flaws and all. Moving and certainly gut wrenching brutal honesty in this film. Willing to sacrifice and transform into a better person, work hard, serve husband, serve family (ailing, invalid mil), well loved at work, do everything right with her heart and a smile, in return for husband's love and trust. Yet outcome is still tragic.
I wanna know who disliked this movie..like seriously for me being a Filipino this helps with international/interracial marriages concerning the hardships...But anyway the movie was well scripted and I give it 10/10 👍👌 made me think a lot about trust and love

What a sad and beautiful story, I really enjoyed this movie, she was so faithful she loved Oppa...❤she lived a good life with him, he was jeslos but he came around, and that guy just used her to get her trust then killed her Oppa...good story. It shows how hard it is to trust wrong people...
i cried so much in the end... abuse is never okay but i think he could have changed. trust and his insecurities were the main problem. as well as lack of communication.
all this time he cared for his wife and kids, but he was decieved by the bad guy. omg my heart hurts so much I can't take this. my tears wont stop even after the drama ends.
It was never love between them. The relationship between them was disgusting and hard to watch. He was a cold weird lonely old man who just needed to own a woman. He was already hitting and slaving her before he knew why she married him. It's shocking to see comments of people saying they were in love. They were not! She was a woman who resigned to fate. She had no one or nowhere else to go to so she decided to make the most of whatever life she had by having a child and trying hard to exist with a horrible man.

I wonder how many Filipinos have already watched this because it hurts me a lot. Not because of the movie but how they use Filipinos as example. I hate their impression about Filipinos. If you watched it attentively, there's a scene where Tien is buying balsam pears and a man was caught by policemen. He was speaking Tagalog that time, "Hindi nga ako may gawa nun! Bitawan mo ako!". And then, there is that comment was like a Filipina married a Korean then after 3 months having her Korean nationality, he left his husband. What the heck?! Yeah we know, we are from third world country but using us on that kind of situation was infuriating!!! A lot of Koreans were here in the Philippines to better learn English and we are very hospitable. How could someone degrade us?! A lot of Korean personalities already came from here to start their careers or just live here like Sandara Park, Jung Joonyoung, Ryan Bang, Dasuri Choi - I am disgusted to whoever made to the scriptwriters, directors and the people behind this. 😠😠😠

SPOILER ALERT. Didn’t we all watch this with a preconceived thought of what the husband was like and what she was like just by their outside appearances. I know I did like they say you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. So cliche but true. We couldn’t imagine that she actually loved him because of his appearance. Of course the physical abuse was terrible and never acceptable. It’s such a tragic story but their love was real. You should never judge someone’s marriage because you never know what goes on between a husband and wife. Such a beautiful way to see their story unfold though. It was done really well. How can people be so creative in telling good stories. It was so well crafted. I feel like I need to watch it again with a different mindset. Highly recommend this movie.
As a Vietnamese myself, I seriously hope that people will have a little bit more understanding on these kinds of marriages. I think this drama has a bit of more positive side of these marriages. As far as I know and what I have heard, there are a lot of cases that Vietnamese brides end their life and also their kids' lives due to harsh relationship with mother-in-law, cultural differences and traditions.I don't know how to put this and I'm really sorry but there are so much ignorant Koreans that think all Vietnamese are poor, uneducated and materialistic; some seriously think that we are so stupid so that they can sell any shit under "made in Korea" trademark, when those products actually were imported from China and I don't mean like high quality stuff but very low quality stuff. Many older Koreans are HOSTILE to foreigners living at their country, by trying to fleece them whatever ways South Korea also has lots of ageing citizens who felt pathetic, unloved and angry with their government The house seen in the drama is Very Backward ; I am sure it is Not Even located at Seoul
I'm a Filipino and I can relate with your comment. They tend to stereotype developing countries and a lot of people fall with this kind of mindset. I've been to Vietnam 3-times already and I have so much respect for its people and rich history how they take pride of who they are. They are hardworking. The bad and negative news is not the whole picture, every countries have the same issues too. I hope people will learn not to make sweeps generalization statements.

When it said drama special, I did not expect that I'll be crying non-stop. Damn koreans, you're too good in heart-wrenching dramas. 1st one I've watched was ANOTHER WEDDING, it made me cry too. This is the second one.
