Mr Natarajan During ea rly 60s Turning ware in existence Mysore Junc tion and Nanjangud for turning the Coal Engin es of the types of YC YD YG YP YL and other s In Mysore a shed in the shape of 180 degr ee circle was construct ed for stationing 8 to 10 locos with a turnin g table which will be us ed to have connections to all the tracks of the stationed locos and tw o workers engaged in turning the table to any of the lines of the shed from where the locos have to be brought out of the shed to the singl e line opposite the she d for further movemen t towords platforms one incident I am reme mbering even today The loco attached to the Mysore Bangalore Chamundi Express the Departure time being 7 10 in the morning of Second Saturday of June 1977 fsiled to move due to some me chanical trouble Sensi ng that the loco will not be repaired imme diately the authorities maanaged to bring one 4 piston wheeled YG ty pe engine from the tur ning table shed got yhe troubled loco deta vhed and the Chamund i Express departed My sore 18.minures late More wonder to the travellers was that the Engine Driver a Bearde d fat gentleman by look managed to reach Mandya by a mere 6 mi nutes late at 8 11 A M Government Employee s who were happened to taking Departmental Examination at the Govt College Centre Op posite Railway Station at 8 30 in the morming met the Engine Driver Wished and Thanked him by telling this exa minatio matter to him This one moment ia an Unforgettable one in my life so to say
