    We have enjoyed these episodes a lot, espcially the lions in episode 3 and cheetah in 4 was amazing. Looking forward to the Kruger episodes. We left Kruger Feb 9th and all was flooded, lots of roads closed even. Hope you had more luck than we did.

      Many thanks. We arrive after the flooding but many roads were still closed as you will see in the upcoming videos. It was disappointing not to have access to most of the gravel roads but we still had some incredible sightings.

    Thank you again for a very enjoyable video. I was really impressed with the crystal clear audio your camera picked up and of course your excellent filming style is always appreciated.

      Many thanks. I tried hard to capture decent audio and learned one or two tricks in editing on this series to bring out the more interesting audio and take out the background noise. The idea then was to have the ambient audio (where available) to be as noticeable as the music. I hope I succeeded.

      @@oldcodgerwithacamera You definitely succeeded.

    What l loved this time was the whole family of ostriches. And as always the quality, the editing, the background music, just everything about this video is just superb.

      Many thanks for your appreciation and kind words. Maybe not everybody would agree but the ostriches were one of the highlights on this visit. It was amazing to see so many at different stages of development and the huge 'creches' where a couple of adults would look after all the youngsters.

    First of all, what a wonderfull series. May i ask. We are planning the same trip to the Kgalagadi next year. And we loved to go to the kruger after visiting the kgalagadi. Is this manageable? And do you have some tips for us. I hope you will make more series in the future! KR!

      Thanks for your appreciation. Driving from the Kgalagadi to the Kruger is certainly manageable and is what we did but you will need an overnight stop. If you want to do it as quickly as possible you should leave the Kgalagadi as soon as the gates open and drive as close to Johannesburg as you can for an overnight stop. From there you can get to the Kruger in four or five hours. We had a final game drive in the Kgalagadi and left about 10 am to stop at the Border Hotel in Jan Kempdorp which I highly recommend. The next day we drove to Emgwenya to stay at the Wayside Lodge. It was dark by the time we arrived at Emgwenya so we didn’t want to go further. The following day it was a two hour drive to the Kruger. There are several options to split the journey but it is a long drive and on one of the days you will be driving all day. Whatever you do try to avoid driving at night which can be dangerous.
      We’ll be going back to the Kruger next year and I’ll be filming again!

    Why won’t you be going back to the Kgalagadi??

      Simply a question of cost and value for money. Accomodation is more expensive, petrol costs (distance) are greater - it is about 750 miles from Jo'burg as against 250 miles to the Kruger, driving distances in the park are often longer as you have to go further to find the wildlife and there is much less wildlife than in the Kruger. Overall Kruger is better value. Having said that I still love the Kgalagadi and if money were no object I'd go back in a heartbeat.

      Thanks!!Whats the most leopards you’ve seen in one trip to Kruger

    • @oldcodgerwithacamera
      @oldcodgerwithacamera  Год назад +1

      8 leopards in 31 days in 2022 and 10 in 24 days this year. Mostly individual but each trip there was one sighting with two leopards.
