- I made this moxon Vise using vintage 3/4" pipe clamps from...I have no idea how old. Looks like they came turn the 50s. They were given to me a few years ago, but they were too heavy for me to use. The pipes were 48" originally. I had one of them cut in half and threaded at Home Depot for free. I had some plywood too so it's basically free!
The face was made using three pieces of 3/4" plywood and two 3/4" and two 1/4" was use for the back part. I used the 1/2 instead of 3/4", or 1/2" because it's the exact thickness I needed to get the back piece of the clamp to be flushed with the edge of the bench. I treated the pieces with tung oil and sanded them down than down with 600-800 grit sandpaper.
Great build of your new vice. I love the innovative creative use of the vintage pipe clamps. I do not want to spend $40 on new hardware that everyone else seems to be using. I think I'll look for similar pipe clamps that you used. Thanks for your wonderful video.
I like the way you don’t talk a lot and just get down to business on your project. With most RUclipsrs I have to fast forward through the first 10 minutes of them talking and trying to make their video longer. I hate that. Also your music is very fitting to the increased speed of your video.
Very nice!
Nicely done, I have a small shop and this clamp will work
Cool, thanks
