    Can't wait to see new defense Under jeff Hafley play this seasons

  • @williamhermann6635
    @williamhermann6635 26 дней назад +39

    Lets do some recapping here. Jeff Hafley, while never coaching for the Seahawks, is from that same Pete Carroll Cover 3/Cover 1 coaching tree via his time under Robert Saleh with the 49ers. So what does Gute do? He goes and gets his Earl Thomas (Xavier McKinney), Bobby Wagner (Edgerrin Cooper), KJ Wright (Quay), plus they already have Jaire and an iron curtain for d-line. Even added a couple thumping strong safeties to fill the Kam Chancellor role and Javon Bullard can do basically anything out there. Some people dont like Gute, but you cant deny hes swinging for the damn fences. This dude wants Lombardi's as in plural.

      Is Hafleys system most comparable to old school legion of boom?? That's nuts! Didn't put that together, if it ends up being true that's gonna be amazing

    • @williamhermann6635
      @williamhermann6635 25 дней назад +2

      @@Diadontis Its that same cover-3 heavy style. Doubt we'll see cover 3 as heavily as the LOB used it but that seems to be Hafley's base defense.

      If at least one of those young Dlinemen on GB can solidify themselves as an elite run stopper that team will be dangerous

    • @markgolson633
      @markgolson633 25 дней назад

      This is a cool comparison! But I wonder if the lg has evolved past the cover 3 dominance

    • @williamhermann6635
      @williamhermann6635 25 дней назад

      @@markgolson633 The league haa definitely evolved. No team plays any 1 coverage as heavily as the LOB played their cover 3 but it will be the Packers base defense and we'll probly see it close to 50% of their defensive snaps.

    I’m very excited about this new defense under Hafley. Felt like for the longest time the Packers defense has had a more of being the nail mentality where they always reacted to the defense afterwards. Now GB’s defense should be more aggressive and being the hammer first. I also like how it feels like the Packers are bringing that mentality to the offense via the run game with the Josh Jacobs signing and drafting Marshawn Lloyd.hoping the Packers keep Henry Pearson at fullback for that exact reason.

    Hopefully new DF coach & Strength Coach will build Packers defensive effectiveness. Many other teams have been stronger, better spacing & tackling. Lots of improvement to go from soft bending, poor tackling -> to strength, aggressive tackling that works

    Been living out in Denver last 5 years and its crazy the difference in drafting talent and potential. Their tradable assets on D were Simmons ans thats kinda it. Most of our players on D would get a serious return in a trade. That says a lot of Gutey and what could be this year, and says even more about Joe Barry.

    I can't wait to see this D perform! It's been a while since I was this excited going into a season! Such a strong finish to the season with a bunch of talented young guys with a few years under them. So many players poised for a breakout season! So many 1st round picks on this D, someone gonna blow up in this D!

    I just think back ova the course of the whole year last year. J10VE an the offense missed on so many big plays, he could have easily had 5,000yds 40tds. Player's running wide open all ova da field. He got the nerves out the way, plus gained confidence in himself an his teammates. It's one thing on the practice field, an in glimpse in a game. They know he's capable, this team is VERY DANGEROUS‼️ Coach"em up Matt, an Steno. Keep dem hungry and motivated. I'm 34 an I been a Packer fan my whole life 4rm Arkansas. Gutey keep doing ya thang, we definitely need 1 mo true proven X-factor, on either side of the ball. Look out NFL‼️

    I’m at an 8 for the D. It would be a lot higher. But so many times I think we got a D that could be in the top 5 yet we can barely scratch the top 10 consistently. Feels like always middle of the league to bottom half D finishes. Love the aggressive mentality Hafley will bring with a single high front 4 system. With two Strong safeties in Nickle that will detonate the line of scrimmage. Love the way Hafley talks about bringing the heat. I’m over the moon to see a GM match that energy, and draft a slew of guys that can run and hit. It’s clearly the new mentality. No longer will we see our edges in zone coverage a”bit more importantly we have a young aggressive D with a key veteran at all three levels, Ja, Preston, Clark. I’m possibly the most excited about a D we’ve had in a long time. Which is saying a lot because it seems every year I’m optimistic. We always hammer D in the draft. But this could definitely be the D that finishes among the top 5. My confidence: 8.

    I give our New defense a tentative 7. Not because of talent. It's the risk vs. reward. We need Stokes (or a young drafted player) to step up as a solid #2 corner across from Alexander, AND we need solid technique from the LB's to make tackles. I think we can pressure the QB and force some Turnovers, but the back end has to hold up or we are going to get smoked deep.

    Imo the packers purposefully tanked the defense under Aaron. They hired a horrible D coordinator purposefully. Then, gave Aaron a huge contract so that he wouldn't retire before they traded him. Brilliant

    10/10! Hafley will easily get that defense going fast. When u get guys like Cooper and Bullard and Williams and Hopper! They’re gonna be very elite playmakers! The others are too! That whole defense is going to be slept on to where the league won’t see what they seriously have become

    • @Jimb151
      @Jimb151 День назад +1

      Correct. More strength, better techniques like “X” in a drill slapped ball out first try..took Jaire several attempts to do it. Strength coach should improve resilience reduce soft tissue injuries as SF did for C.McCaffrey. Success breeds success. No bend-bend defense all day that demoralizes

    As fans we will need better descriptive words, su h as stifle against a good team, and throttle against a less good team. Please remember the Reggie White years where the offense often enjoyed a half field.

    I'll never understand why people are fawning over Quay Walker all the time. He's certainly not bad but he also is statistically average or below average. And looking at his tape you can see he blows a lot of assignments. This is not doom and gloom but he has work to do to be considered elite, especially considering we drafted him in the first round.
