Music can bring memories, recent and long past. My father passed 4years ago and every time I hear Hotel California l am taken back to the day I "turned him on" to the Eagles... He was a big band, Glen Miller, Arty Shaw lover and one day I stuck my headphones on him, to repay him for addicting me to Woody Herman.... His eyes grew wide at first an then closed ... And flew open with the big guitar solo.
He was hooked from then on...
I even got him to listen to some Zeppelin, carefully chosen, Gallows Pole, Tangerine, That's The Way It Aught To Be.
As some song triggers a flash of that moment....

I cant love this comment enough because we are a beautiful mix that doesnt put any of the parts over each other. All parts are beautiful and make us 100% who we are, regardless of colorism in the world. We benefit from pan-African diaspora, god is good and the result is proof.
After my great grandmother passed most of my family came together to not only mourn but celebrate her life and this song came on and I don’t think I’ve ever felt more peace than I did in that moment watching them dance, cry and smile together. I think about that day everytime I listen to this now.

Exactly, every time I hear this song it just brings me full joy. I wasn’t born in Puerto Rico, my parents and a lot of my family were, they would tell me how beautiful it is and I would picture images in my head of me there whenever I hear this song ❤
