@Al Sousa Agreed! Their status in USA is woeful, people aren't sure who they are - except the fans. At the NYC Webster Hall "limited audience" concert I was up front and center under Saul and TB. Have to say, compared to large arena concerts like this video shows, the small venue and intimacy with the audience make james a really unique band.
'actually'Jose Alvarez I was referring to the general public's perception of James and not want the band wanted, once over they said they would never'sell-out'(as they put it)-seems to me that they would like a bigger following these days.also they certainly have been underrated and largely ignored by the music industry/media/public throughout their career,FACT.
Craig Cullen ok Craig Cullen, i get the idea, you are right at that, for sure they deserve MUCH more attention from general music media being them such talented as they are as a band
Jose Alvarez I just saw them in NYC at Webster Hall, I live close by, and as a live act they remind me of early-mid 60s groups, they have that "sound" it doesn't age or date, it just hangs on. Tim Booth said he'd be happy to expand the audience, regardless of wanting to be "quiet" in the business-side of payola in music. They need a bigger American audience, and being one I agree.
I was there and to be honest, i'd only ever heard Sit Down before, but they won me over, best performance by a band the whole weekend. Just made me feel great. That could've been some other substances mind, still topper
One of the truly great bands. They have so much depth in their lyrics & a spiritual aspect that gets missed by many. See them live if you can, they are something very, very special..
I used to obsess about the Smiths in the eighties and several bands in the nineties but right through the last thirty odd years the band that has endured the most for me has got to be James. They are awesome beyond belief....
Sir L: I wish more people, especially Americans (and I am one!) could see how James existed and flourished before, through, and after Madchester like you do!
In the late 80’s I was mad on pet shop boys until I went to college and a friend of mine used to play stutter and strip mine in his car James changed my taste in music completely for the better definitely
+stoneroses13 I am 19 years old....and I f*** love James....best band ever....Im from Portugal and ive been in 5 concerts of James....I have 3 guitar picks, one from Jim, another from Saul and one from Larry :)
Has anyone noticed what Larry Gott writes on his guitar in Greek ? It means "play something, play something, anything" James love Greece and we love them twice!! Hope to see you guys soon!
Here from Central America < costa rica, el salvador , Honduas we love his music, its so natural and so beautiful, one day in the future we might have him here
Man that performance of "Sometimes" got me choked up. Between the mention of "rain" in the song, the coincidence of it pouring, and everyone singing along in the end there it was quite a moment...
So many great songs spanning 30 years. James are great live , really underrated to the general public and Tim Booth is a lyrical genius. Wonder how they decided which songs to play in a hours set here. Thankfully when i go to see the "La Petite Mort" tour on 15th November at the hydro in Glezga they play for 2 hours. I canny wait man!! Leave a little light on!! Thats the living!!
Sometimes I when I look in your eyes I swear I can see your soul. Tim Booth is an incredible showman - James is one of the best bands ever! So underrated especially here in the states.
Brandi Price I just saw them in NYC, Tim says they lose money when they play NY and they really want to do a US tour but there's not enough American enthusiasm for james. I can't figure out why not!! This band is incredible, best music I've heard in decades.
Catherine Rapicano I tweeted Tim & asked him to come to New Zealand, he said they would never have enough money to come that far. Shame, as to me they are the greatest band about & have been for the past 20 years
The_Budmaster Seems they're not reaping in the money they deserve, from what a close photog-friend of theirs told me. Yet when you see crowds like this...and when they're on tour, places like Portugal, Greece, etc., love them. At least they bring in the crowds, so what's the problem here? Who knows...
One of the best bands I’ve seen live! Not many bands can out perform their studio songs but James are fantastic live. If you’re a young person and get the chance to see them live do it 🍻
Great Show! You know how we love U in Portugal. 25 or more years...Saw U in Braga at least 2 times (and @ Porto once, 2001 before de first split - talk with Tim after he's leaving the "Coliseu do Porto" alone in a van and he said to the driver to stop. Got the autograph
Remember seeing them in 2001 (I think) at the M.E.N. Arena and it's amazing they're still going and managing to produce amazing songs such as Curse Curse. I'm actually hearing this for the first time only now (after Pleased To Meet You album I went off them and haven't checked out anything since, but will have to do something about that I think). They must surely one day be recognized as one of THE best bands ever!
Craig Cullen It's good but not my favourite. I said I went off them after that album as in I wasn't fussed about some of the stuff I heard after this point and up to their most recent stuff. I have since bought La Petite Mort (mixed feelings), The Morning After (The Night Before - the double album release) which I again had mixed feelings about and the best out of the three for me, Hey Ma, which I'd say was very good overall.
The stages at festivals are now so far away from the audience that frontmen like Booth really have to work to bridge the divide. I saw James a few days ago and still feel uplifted.
If you have heard little of James and want to try something new to get you hooked on them go to about minute 26 on this video and listen to Jam Jay. I have only recently discovered this gem - amongst so many in their back catalogue. Their new stuff is brilliant too - which is not something every band over 20 years or whatever in existence can boast with credibility.
Actually, Tim Booth is one of the best frontman in the world. Sure Freddy Mercury was the number one and I don't think anyone can overcome him. Other good was Ian Curtis
Wow, I was literally thinking who on the level of Freddie could you compare him to just now. And yeah, Ian, league of his own, probably would not have James if not for him...
I heard my very first James' song "Born of Frustration" on the radio back in 92 and I thought it was an OK song, typical pop stuff with a catchy wooowooowoo tune. So I bought the CD and when I listened to it I quickly realized that it was actually the worst song on the entire CD IMO. I then went back to the store and bought all their previous CDs. I've been a big fan ever since.
Please God, don't let Tim Booth get any older. We need him here on Earth to fill our hearts with joyous music sung in the way only he can!
Your so right James are amazing and the energy Tim booth projects is infectious.
Yes fucking please.
Best band ever
"We're a band that don't believe in autotunes, so what you hear is what you get."
This is why I love James!!
its correct its a great Band!

Best hour ive spent on the net. james are so under rated.
It's criminal that james are so underrated!
James have not been "underrated" since their third album back in 1990.
as a band they want themselves to keep it underrated actually
'actually'Jose Alvarez I was referring to the general public's perception of James and not want the band wanted, once over they said they would never'sell-out'(as they put it)-seems to me that they would like a bigger following these days.also they certainly have been underrated and largely ignored by the music industry/media/public throughout their career,FACT.

One of the truly great bands. They have so much depth in their lyrics & a spiritual aspect that gets missed by many. See them live if you can, they are something very, very special..
strumbad stroller so true. Saw them last night in Melbourne. Very very special indeed. Emotional
Discovered James gave me a different taste of music
Blew my mind when I first heard Millionaires
In the late 80’s I was mad on pet shop boys until I went to college and a friend of mine used to play stutter and strip mine in his car James changed my taste in music completely for the better definitely
Ditto 👊🏻
Best ever concert I wish one day I could go .. cheers from El Salvador
They are getting old as well as their fans and their song are already gold. Many thanks JAMES for the beautiful songs!!!
+stoneroses13 I am old ..but this crowd doesn't
+stoneroses13 I am 19 years old....and I f*** love James....best band ever....Im from Portugal and ive been in 5 concerts of James....I have 3 guitar picks, one from Jim, another from Saul and one from Larry :)

I love the rainfall during their last number: Sometimes
All it was missing was a rainbow. And maybe some thunder.
Yes God is a james fan!
on my way, leave a little light on x
Britain's most portuguese band ever 💙🇵🇹
👍🏴👌
I love James. Tim Booth really gives his all during live gigs.
Man that performance of "Sometimes" got me choked up. Between the mention of "rain" in the song, the coincidence of it pouring, and everyone singing along in the end there it was quite a moment...
Best band in the world
Love James, they always lift my spirit, dode law

they are the best band live that you will ever see and I have seen plenty, concerts, festivals etc... etc...
Best of the 90s. Early wave of Britpop at its finest. It's always a joy to listen James.
Sometimes I when I look in your eyes I swear I can see your soul. Tim Booth is an incredible showman - James is one of the best bands ever! So underrated especially here in the states.
Underrated in uk. Niche is good. 👍
GnaGna
They don't even seem to realize that they're performing under "endless rain". They're that proffesional. Love them Great show Amazing voice
You know they're manc's?
Amazing band. Hope they go on forever!
actual goosbumps right now
Yes! They start w Come Home! Please come to America. Texas loves you, Tim booth And James!!

One of the best bands I’ve seen live! Not many bands can out perform their studio songs but James are fantastic live. If you’re a young person and get the chance to see them live do it 🍻
I did!! Back in 1985!
Mana 😂

James is the best band ever
it made me cry when he starts to sing sit down.
Best band ever, the british REM
Absolutely fucking amazing. Pure brilliance.
Great to see this band again! Oh sit down. She only comes when she's on top. Getting away with it!

What an incredible live band
This is what happens when u put a bunch of outstanding musicians togheter in the same stage....epic!!!
Helps if you're from Manchester,!
Remember seeing them in 2001 (I think) at the M.E.N. Arena and it's amazing they're still going and managing to produce amazing songs such as Curse Curse. Me too
I stopped. Listening to them then as well
Was also at the men arena , best gig I've ever been to
there are some things we cant explain why...like why James is underrated same as Dishwalla
WELL DONE JOCKS YOU SMASHED IT PURE GENUINE FOLK PRICELESS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Yeah Scotland has always welcomed manc bands well.
The stages at festivals are now so far away from the audience that frontmen like Booth really have to work to bridge the divide. I saw James a few days ago and still feel uplifted.

Freaking love this band. Have been listening to them none stop lately. I hope they come to the US sometime soon!
FANTASTIC BAND!!!!!!!
I LOVE YOU, JAMES
thank you very much,i apologize for being in my mid 60`s and absolutely loving the concert, its makes me cry ,xxxx
"Warning: May contain Strong language..." Must be : "Warning: The world is full of pain , let the music talk"
Warning, Tim will win your heart.
The best set from T this year ... end of!
This great band is unknown in France (only in the 90's with Born of frustration) So cruel...La petite mort
just watched again and im buzzing . maybe just got me to pick up the guitar, first time in a while. cant wait to T next year.
Actually, Tim Booth is one of the best frontman in the world. Sure Freddy Mercury was the number one and I don't think anyone can overcome him. Other good was Ian Curtis
Meh, I'm fine w this guy....no need to bring up Mercury or that opens Pandora's box of everyone else.
For me, another was Chester Bennington, in another genre of music, of course.
I agree...but ask 100 rabdom people and you'll get 50 different favourites (but Tim is the best :))
Wow, I was literally thinking who on the level of Freddie could you compare him to just now. And yeah, Ian, league of his own, probably would not have James if not for him...
Tim and James band, we miss you in France !
That's music to is finest not that crap that we hear around the corner
Love it! Yet again James are brilliant, and the only band that give me goosebumps. Hope Tim keeps going!
Sublime !!! Tim
Gracias James. Corona Capital 2010 - México.

I love them!
Tim has lovely eyes.

Brandon Kwan I love that sound but agree it's not as strong as the other tracks. SEVEN is absolutely the greatest Cd ever.
