back in 2016, I had a major crush on someone for toooo long, I was totally in love with her. She used to be my senior in college and was total outta my league. She was beautiful, charming, intelligent, and awkward and I was only awkward. I waited to take a glance for her in college, did whatever gave me an opportunity to spend time near/with her (You know all that shit you do?) I wrote poems for her, gave her greeting cards, and acted like a dumb cheap Romeo oftentimes. When I realized I'm not her type, and this story will never be completed, it was a very hard phase. I was 20 at that time and never appreciated old Bollywood songs till that time. Only if I knew. It was my first real heartbreak kinda heartbreak and I had no clue how to not feel hurt and broken. I played this song on repeat for hours, no kidding. And I was amazed by how this song was released like more than 50 years back and yet, it captivates all its magic. This song helped me to move on. The debate on Mukesh vis a vis this song seems to be unending. I am a sworn Rafi Bhakth but in a televised competition singers who tried to sing Mukesh numbers were stopped by eminent judges after 2 lines. Mukesh's genius lay in his simplicity and the heart tugging nuances that he brought to certain tracks that no other singer can ever emulate. In the end let us as Indians consider ourselves blessed that we are born in the land of Rafi, Kishore, Hemant, Manna. Mahendra, Talat, Sehgal, Mukesh, And I would like to add Bhupendra too since his voice has a magical quality. Ladies and Gentlemen we all have our personal favourites for sure. But just imagine how empty the Indian music canvas would be if only our personal favourite sang, pretending for a moment that the others did not exist. Unimaginable .

back in 2016, I had a major crush on someone for toooo long, I was totally in love with her. She used to be my senior in college and was total outta my league. She was beautiful, charming, intelligent, and awkward and I was only awkward.
I waited to take a glance for her in college, did whatever gave me an opportunity to spend time near/with her (You know all that shit you do?) I wrote poems for her, gave her greeting cards, and acted like a dumb cheap Romeo oftentimes.

I played this song on repeat for hours, no kidding. And I was amazed by how this song was released like more than 50 years back and yet, it captivates all its magic. This song helped me to move on. I feel so thankful to this music sometimes, I just can't describe it in words.

The debate on Mukesh vis a vis this song seems to be unending. I am a sworn Rafi Bhakth but in a televised competition singers who tried to sing Mukesh numbers were stopped by eminent judges after 2 lines. Mukesh's genius lay in his simplicity and the heart tugging nuances that he brought to certain tracks that no other singer can ever emulate. In the end let us as Indians consider ourselves blessed that we are born in the land of Rafi, Kishore, Hemant, Manna. Mahendra, Talat, Sehgal, Mukesh, And I would like to add Bhupendra too since his voice has a magical quality.

हिंदी फिल्मों के साहित्यिकगीत रचनाकार शैलेंद्र जी के लिखित इस गीत को शंकर जयकिशन के संजीदा और सु मधुर संगीत निर्देशन में यहूदी फिल्म के लिए मुकेश जी ने गाया था रोचक और असल तथ्य हमें यह भी बताते हैं की फिल्म के हीरो दिलीप कुमार इस गाने के लिए मोहम्मद रफी या तलत महमूद की आवाज चाहते थे लेकिन संगीतकार शंकर ने यह गाना मुकेश जी के लिए विशेष रूप से तैयार किया था और एक बार प्रयोग के तौर पर मुकेश जी की आवाज में रिकॉर्ड किया जिसे सुनकर दिलीप साहब ने मुकेश जी को शंकर जयकिशन जी को गले लगा लिया और मुकेश जी की आवाज में ही मूल गीत यहूदी फिल्म में रखा गया और बहुत अधिक प्रसिद्ध हुआ तथ्य और यह भी है कि 1953 में माशूका फिल्म मैं सुरैया के साथ नायक बनने के क्रम में मुकेश जी ने एक अजीब कॉन्ट्रैक्ट साइन किया जिसके अनुसार फिल्म माशूका के रिलीज होने तक मुकेश जी किसी भी अन्य फिल्म में किसी भी प्रकार का अभिनय और पार्श्व गायन नहीं कर सकेंगे सच यह भी है कि सन 1957 या सन 1958 में माशूका रिलीज होकर flop हो गई और मुकेश जी को यहूदी फिल्म के इसी गाने ने फिर से पार्श्व गायन में बुलंदी पर पहुंचाने में मदद की मुकेश जी को नमन

राज कपूर दिलीप कुमार देवानंद यह तीनों हिंदी सिनेमा के कालजई अदाकार और लोकप्रिय शख्सियत थे राज कपूर जी ने हमेशा प्लेबैक सिंगिंग के लिए मुकेश जी को अहमियत दी यानी कि राज कपूर की घोस्ट वॉइस मुकेश जी थे लेकिन कई फिल्मों में राज कपूर जी के लिए मन्ना डे ने भी बहुत अधिक लोकप्रिय गाने गाए राज कपूर जी के खेमे में फिल्मों का संगीत निर्देशन अधिकांश शंकर जयकिशन जी ने किया लेकिन यदा कदा अन्य संगीतकारों ने भी राज कपूर जी के लिए फिल्मों में संगीत निर्देशन किया और वह है बहुत अधिक लोकप्रिय रहा राज कपूर जी के लिए गीतकार के रूप में शैलेंद्र जी और हसरत जयपुरी जी ने अधिक काम किया लेकिन कई मौकों पर अन्य गीतकारों ने भी राज कपूर जी के लिए लोकप्रिय गीत लिखे इसी प्रकार दिलीप कुमार जी के लिए पार्श्व गायन अधिकांश मोहम्मद रफी जी ने किया यानी कि दिलीप कुमार जी की ghost voice रफी जी थे इनके लिए अधिकांश समय संगीत निर्देशन Naushad Ali और गीतकार साहिर लुधियानवी ने काम किया इसके विपरीत दिलीप कुमार साहब पर मुकेश जी द्वारा गाए गए गाने भी बहुत अधिक सुपरहिट रहे देवानंद साहब के लिए घोस्ट वॉइस किशोर कुमार थे और उनके अधिकांश गानों का संगीत निर्देशन एसडी बर्मन और आरडी बर्मन जी ने किया था लेकिन देवानंद साहब पर मोहम्मद रफी जी ने बहुत अधिक सुपरहिट गाने रिकॉर्ड किए यह तीनों सदाबहार नायक अभिनय के आयाम थे और इनकी अपने शैली फिल्म जगत में मील का पत्थर साबित हुई
Fun fact: Dilip Kumar wanted this song to sung by Mohd Rafi as Mukesh's career was a little low at that time but the composers Shankar Jaikishan stuck to Mukesh n this song made his comeback
