One reason why I left the reformed tradition and became a Lutheran is that I have always considered myself a Christian and a believer since I was a small boy. I was a Roman Catholic at birth and was baptized as an infant. Later, being reformed, I was taught that my regeneration did not happen at baptism and that it had to be a conversion experience later in life. I believed in original sin and that we are totally depraved. The whole time I was reformed I basically had to ignore my baptism and tried to convince myself that I was never saved and never had the Holy Spirit until later in life. My last PCA pastor even tried to re-baptize me! I objected and would not go along with that. That was the moment I decided to start learning about Lutheranism. Now at 63, I can finally say I have come home and I thank God everyday for my baptism as he saved me before I ever realized it. God be praised!
When I was younger, my Lutheran pastor said we should have a “mystery shelf” where we put our unanswered questions. When we get to heaven we will spend time with God as he gives us the answers. At this time in my life, my shelf is pretty full but I look forward to receiving the answers 😊
A few thoughts: 1.) Whenever I hear somebody talk about anything akin to "making a decision for Jesus," I want to respond, "You only made a decision for Jesus because Jesus changed you to 'make that decision'." 2.) I sent you an email about it, but I like the "Cat-in-the-box" analogy for election. Of course, if it's not a good analogy, I'm certainly willing to forego it. :) 3.) For the things we don't know that God does not tell us, I also use the analogy of the "EL" in Chicago. If you are traveling by the EL (elevated train) in Chicago, you get a map of the train circuit. That circuit does not tell you everything about Chicago; but it does tell you what you need to know to get to your destination via the EL. And that's what you need to know, period.
How do we preach? The Lord is the shield? How do we preach or teach for that matter? The Lord is our defender? Boy. We really need to take a long walk through the psalms. The psalms we talk about is being the prayer book of the Bible. However, I have never been a member of a church that walks through the psalms From beginning to end. And if you do, you will see you know that the language of my enemies, my savior, my defenders those who are against me those who oppose me. Save me oh God. The Lord is my refuge of whom shall I be afraid the Lord is my strength whom shall I fear? I think running through the psalms is an excellent starting point.
I heard that pastor Packer really wants a brightly colored microphone cover. Pastor wolfmuellers bright red cover draws peoples attention and we are always looking to pastor Wolfmueller. I heard that this is why he begged to be on the player 1 side of the screen, but it hasn't helped. I heard he has been to every dollar store in town but al they had was grey microphone covers. I heard he looked high and low for some matching arm chairs, but finding nothing, he settled for a matching jacket. Unfortunately, it looks like he is talking in to his elbow.
"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4
Christ said “ no one comes to me unless my father call him” . When God call us we have certainly been chosen for salvation. “Abraham believed God and it was accounted for righteousness”. So Faith cements our calling from God, but Apostle Paul said “ God gave every man a measure of Faith”. The conclusion is Salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit through the Grace of God .
Rumors say p. Andrew is a Greek, eloquent in both, the ancient and the modern tongue. Ηis name is Andreas (Ανδρέας) Packeridis (Πακερίδης). He secretly chews olive leaves and this is how he improves his greek language extraordinary skills.

John 3 :5 and 1 Peter 3: 21 prove you wrong. [Edit: by mistake, I posted this comment directly in the parent thread. It was intended as a response to a comment that quoted John 3 :16 and denied baptismal regeneration. My apologies.]
Can you please elaborate? In your imagination, what do your cherry picked verses prove? Sorry I am a little slow so please if you can spare some time to help me understand. Next time, could you include more information instead of just mentioning some verses with no explanation? How do your 2 verses prove them wrong and about what have you proven them wrong? And if they are wrong, then what is right? Thank you so much.
@@br.mTo be honest, I meant to post this under the comment by the guy who was saying that Baptism doesn't save. My apologies to you and to all. My response was a reaction to his interpretation of John 3 :16. He was quoting it as proof that Baptism doesn't save.
We are "saved" at baptism, but that is only saved from past sins. I have a Ytube video 'Ephesians 2:9 "Not of works?" #32 Myths in so-called Christianity'. The rest is up to us.
If every person is reconciled to God, there is no issue between the unbeliever and God. This gives reconciliation to people apart from faith, and yet those who do not have faith are abiding under His wrath. One cannot be reconciled to God and under His wrath at the same time. Or you would have people in hell who are reconciled to God.
the scripture is the standard, not any denomination, calvinism and baptismal regeneration is not biblical, a person is save according to Romans 10-9-10, John 3:16. Its repenting and believing that one gets saved
Denominations you mentioned were formed by various interpretations of scripture. To say the bible is the standard is correct but how is it being understood? What biases are at play? What is being under or over emphasised? For me it's important to stand on the shoulders of giants, I'm not a bible scholar, once claims are made I can search the scripture's to see if they're true.

Amen!! When people try to downplay the power of baptism, they deny the omnipotence of Almighty God.

I feel like I've watched this video a thousand times. Thus is the beauty of Lutheranism.

What a joy this show is! Pastor Bryan, p. Andrew, thank you both. Greetings from Greece.
Please let's pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in Aleppo.
Especially the rumor that Pastor Packard used to chew fireflies to have glow in the dark spit 😂🤣😂
thank you Dr.Bryan
It seems like we view salvation more in terms of the presence of Christ than as a moment in time.
I am always glad to see a notice of another podcast.

That cuts deep 😮

Honest question, the need to "know" isn't that the fruit of the tree from knowledge of good and evil?

@Bryan Wolfmueller Did the questions that got posted on the form go into the void? Or did they just sit waiting until the form was fixed?

Salvation is a life long journey to the end of your earthly life.
Why does Lutheranism rupture the unity of Christ's Body ?
Not really a good answer so far I don't think that's what the questioner wants to know.
Which question and answer are you referring to and can you enlighten us with your answer?
If Jews can be messianic, can Lutherans be messianic? I like that better than Christian. Messianic Lutheran! 😅😂
Christ = messiah, in the language of the New Testament.

1 Peter 3:21 and various other passages disagree.

Baptismal regeneration is Biblical. You are probably too lazy to look it up.
