Kid was thrown into arguably the worst possible situation, even worse than Bryce Young last year. The top two WRs, the starting TE, and two OLs are all out and you’re going to lead a team against that Broncos defense with Means, Tipton, and Moreau? They could’ve ran the ball more often, but that kid was in the most unwinnable situation I’ve seen. At least Young had Thielen lol
Are you out of your got damn mind? Bryce Young got it worst than Spencer Rattler.
I’d take Theilen over Cedrick Wilson which was the best WR Spencer had last night. And the original post said 2 OL but it was actually 3. The entire interior OL is down to 2nd and 3rd string
@@judykhaleck8034 Bryce Young had a fully healthy roster at the beginning of this and last season. Rattler was playing with largely back-ups and rookies almost exclusively last night.
@@judykhaleck8034😅 we know someone doesn't keep up with rosters. Probably shouldn't comment on NFL videos.
You're right and I absolutely agree with you, but "At least Young had Thielen" is so freaking funny to not acknowledge XD
Die hard Saints fan here: Nobody could have expected Rattler to succeed in that environment. Nobody to protect him and nobody for him to throw too. The Saints have quit on Dennis Allen the way I did 2 years ago.
Dealt with the guy in Oakland...He STINKS
Disagree, 1/2 of the on-line population who call themselves Saints "fans"...screamed about Rattler being the saviour....He looked like an 8th grader out there. It's Haener's turn.
@@captaindeluxe7328 You must be a soccer fan and new to the game.
He was running for his life most of the time.
Broncos fan here: you can’t see he not ready when his supporting cast is decimated. Last nights game should have no reflection on Spencer rattler
@@ji8044 Yeah, that must be it and you must be a Rattler fan, do or die.
Rich complaining about rookie QBs not being ready and having no way for them to develop and then hating the Penix pick is the peak of cognitive dissonance
I think he also makes the point that you never know. It's all case by case, saints have injuries everywhere o line wr its so hard for a rookie QB to overcome that
Because it's still a stupid pick.
Here's where the Raiders fans get to spread their rage
It’s not about Penix waiting. It’s about them needing a pass rusher not a luxury pick like they are a Super Bowl contender already
@@RockyHemingwayyou must be under 25, you dim. It was the right decision. All yall finna be making excuses in a few years about the pick it’s effected the falcons zero. Rookie pass rusher, like the media has told you they should have taken, wouldn’t make them an undefeated team rn.
I don't get why people are freaking out over rattler. Was he bad last night ? Yes. He's a later round pick rookie in his second start who is missing an oline and his best receivers and the run game isn't working because the o-line is gone and denver has a great defense like what were you all expecting?
@idawg7332 idk why people think even if he had those players healthy anything would be different… people seem to forget he went from being the projected #1 overall pick in the draft going into his junior year at Oklahoma and he played so bad he lost the starting job.. then transferred to SC and played his last 2 years and went in the 5th round. It’d be a great story to get back to what he used to be his first 2 seasons in college but I honestly think he’s just another Cardale Jones
Right ! Not everyone is Brock Purdy
Rich is totally overreacting here 😂
My friend who likes the saints says he’s horrible. To be fair he wasn’t the best in big games in college
Nope. No leniency, because Bo Nix gets none. Spencer is trash. 😊
Jake Haener did far more in 40 seconds of playing than Rattler did in 58 minutes. There is no reason whatsoever that Rattler should be starting over Haener
Against back ups
At the end of the game in garbage time. That is not the same thing.
@@ladarriusjennings8914 just watch the film, he was gong through his progressions and getting the ball out way quicker than Rattler. The announcers repeatedly pointed this out
@@nathanmcdonald1572 Against backups. The pressure ain’t the same. I saw someone get walked into Rattlers’ lap the second he snapped the ball in one instance. Who has the time to throw in those instances?
@@ladarriusjennings8914 lol, that happens at least once to every QB in basically every game. Rattler was playing like trash even against backups and then Haener came in and marched down the field for a TD in 40 seconds 🤣
Rattler struggled to go through progressions, held on to the ball way too long, and had zero pocket awareness all game. Plus his accuracy was terrible when he did throw
He talked about everything but the real problem. Mickey and Dennis Allen needs to be fired
The young man had less than 2 seconds on most of his dropbacks, so how many quarterbacks do you know who are ready for that type of pressure?
Spencer is a perfect example to my point of sharing the QB role. Similar to relief pitchers, you have to develop your backups and that happens in games NOT in practice 😂
Good point. Garbage time reps don't happen often enough these days. Maybe it's because the margin of victory is so close for each game.
I’m confused why they had these opportunities to put rattler in for garbage time in weeks 1 and 2 but they gave that time to hearner. Then decided to have rattler jump the line to start.
Rattler played with second string WRs and behind a third string offensive line.
He's lucky just to have survived.
Stop calling them “kids”. They’re adults, and most of them are in their mid-20s.
Saints fans deserved this. They've been calling for Rattler all year, when Haener is clearly better anyway
Three Words to save the Season : Start JAKE HAENER
You don't have a clue
Guy who bounced around in college because he wasn’t good enough to lock down a starting g spot wasn’t good in his NFL debut?
Shocking
He played like a rookie mid round pick thrown into the fire with a beat up Oline. No surprises
Nope. No leniency, because Bo Nix gets none. Spencer is trash. 😊
@@watchmesquatch didn’t give leniency. Just stating facts.
Another fact: Nix was 16/26 for a whopping 164 yards and threw multiple ducks.
Carried by the defense and run game. Not sure what game you were watching
@@watchmesquatchright make it make sense😂 bo gets no praise for leading the team to 33 points. Usually a bad qb would have had the game close like 13-3 not 33-3 most the game😂
He's lucky there was a penalty because the double fumble while running into your own player would have been an all-time lowlight otherwise
I had exactly the same thought watching that disaster unfold😂
How do you know rattler didn’t see the offsides and new he had a free play to make something happen?
@@Nickydafish lmao yeah thanks for letting us know you didn’t see the play
@@forgettablelisa I watched the game. Maybe I’m talking about a different play. The play I’m referring to was the one where there was an offsides that negated a fumble six.
The problem is that incomplete teams are taking young quarterbacks. When you look at Patrick Mahomes, the chiefs were a complete team when he got there. He was able to learn behind Alex Smith. The team was waiting for him, he was not waiting for them.
well it doesn’t help that he doesn’t have an OL.
Spencer Rattled
Rich, I was thinking about this last night actually. The college level is setting this kids to fail in the PRO’s, specially at the QB level. These young kids have zero anticipation, Kurt Warner and among other great QB’s who played said “anticipation is one of the biggest attributes a QB can have. Knowing where your WR’s are going to be and let it slang. In college, these young QB’s are so used to playing play with good linemen, receivers that gets separation…so anticipation was never an issue. Now we are seen are terrible these guys are really are.
Ultimately, college teams are not there to groom quarterbacks for the pros. They want to win with whatever offense works for them. NFL coaches gotta figure out how to coach 'em up when they do make the pros, not expect CJ Stroud-ing to happen immeidately.
43 years of Saints fandom here. My family has had season tickets since the inaugural season (my grandfather left them to my brother and I). The last 2 seasons - I've sold my tickets. I knew what their identity was. Its old and complacent. That all falls on Looney Loomis and maybe more so on Mrs. Benson (though she entrusts Loomis and others to do their job properly so she doesn't have to.). The window was shut about a year before Brees retired. And look... even noodle arm Brees in his final years was a better leader than anything we have right now... whether its the front office, coaching staff or QB. He still found ways to win because Sean was a master at finding diamonds in the rough. Rattler may not be ready but its hardly his fault... because the entire lineup is depleted. The fact our offense went sour when one member of the O-Line dropped... tells you everything. Believe me when I say this... those of us in New Orleans are not happy... for away games you can't find a neighborhood bar that's not packed and rowdy... that won't be the case for the rest of this season. I hope everyone turns their attention to the Pelicans because we need more fans at the home games. Tickets are cheaper. You can get great season tickets for half of what you'd pay for the hot garbage the Saints are fielding.
Jake Haener would have been a better option to start instead of Rattler.
Rattler was put in a terrible situation. There needs to be an investigation for these countless injuries. It’s insane!
An investigation? What you think the saints are trying to get their own players hurt? 😂 i get it they used to have a hitlist for other teams but their own players? Come on man 🤣🤣
@@piratehunterreviews9958 Why would an organization purposely hurt their players? I’m talking about their training regiment during the week. Is it the trainers the medical staff or these guys out of shape? You have a bunch of players hurt 17 or 18 guys plus Adebo and Lattimore from last night. It might be the injury bug and bad luck who knows.
Nope. No leniency, because Bo Nix gets none. Spencer is trash. 😊
@@watchmesquatch Blame Spencer all you want but a good offense starts with an o-line and the saints don’t have one. They are in a bad spot right now.
It's been known for teams in the past to have bad training staff that injure the players because they suck at their job.
I am kinda old but I grew up where rookie QBs were almost never even remotely decent. Granted, defenses aren't as brutal as the 80s, but the learning curve for a rookie QB is steep and seems to have returned to that. Just because a few guys like Daniels or Stroud are playing well doesn't mean other rookie QBs will. Rattler just has to take his lumps and learn from it. Definitely signs of raw talent, but it may be 2-3 years before he's actually in command as a quarterback.
What were they supposed to do? How about give one of the top RBs in the NFL more than 7 carries. Good start
No protection for Rattler
Not all rookies can get thrown into the fire and succeed. Haener and Rattler both are not ready. Every team has injuries, that's not an excuse. Shows what a unicorn Purdy is. 😊
Except Purdy has a loaded offense? WTF is this comparison?
WTF he has an offensive line THAT BLOCKS
Boy if everyone could have Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, and be able to change running backs with the best run game in the business for random running backs.
If Bo Nix had SF's skill position players he'd probably be 5-2.
The issue is that there aren't enough quality o linemen to have a couple of decent back ups on your team. Most seem to implode when 1 or 2 starters go down
No blocking. Can't block. Can't tackle. Won't tackle. Coaching is horrendous. Injuries are killing us and our backups need to back out of this game because they can't play..I'm already looking at players, especially the O-line and D-line in next year's draft. Rattler was thrown in the eye of the storm and it showed
You’re bang on Rich. As a Dolphins fan the organization totally dropped the ball not having a proper backup for Tua.
Rattler in a bad situation this game - Rookie, injuries to starters everywhere, against a good Defense that blitzes a lot.
It's not because of injuries, derek carr was going to fall back to earth regardless.
N.O. hired a coach who failed brutally with the Raiders --- well you get what you pay for . . .
Right gruden was the only thing good the raiders had in 40 years
You can't compare anyone with Purdy man, that dude is good, coaching and weapons help but you can't tell me Miami is not a premium position in those but you need someone good to come in and play
Why the Hell are they not discussing how great the Broncos played?!?...offense/defense special teams/...a great game from BoNix!?!??!...such bias in the coverage!!!...so sick of it!!!...great game Broncos!!!!!.....\m/
It has its own video.
As to Chris’s last statement. There ARENT a lot of really seasoned or winning QBs right now. There’s only 3 starting QBs in the league that have won a ring as a starter. Stafford, Mahomes and Rodgers ( I don’t count Flacco or Wilson because they are technically back ups). And let’s face it, Rodgers, Flacco, Wilson AND Stafford could very much retire after this season.
You can tell these guys don’t follow the team. The saints have a 4th string center who they had to pull from the jets’ practice squad, a 4th string guard, and backup tackle with absolutely no one to throw to other than AK. There’s not a QB in the world who could make that offense work.
Truly can't figure out what Rich is so mad about at the end. He's acting like it's roster malpractice to not have two starting caliber QBs on every roster like there's 64 of those out there every year (there's not even 32). Rare moment where Brockman comes across as the more reasonable one
Kid had zero protection, shame on Dennis Allen just doing a lazy job of coaching and patching the Offensive Line
This was like a worst case scenario for any QB. Saints have like 7 OL injured on top of some of their key offensive weapons going against one of the best defenses in the league. 90% of the QBs in the league would have looked terrible in that game. Maybe not as bad as Rattler but still bad.
what an idiot take to blame Rattler for this loss. Our Defense is the worst in the NFL. DA is supposedly a defensive guru...you were close to being right about one thing. DA should be fired but so should GM Loomis for putting a pre season type roster on the field. What QB in the world could have done better with the D giving up over 6 yds per carry on rushing plays and a D line who couldn''t sack an 87 yr old grandma or stop a pee wee league RB ...
We need more players like Earl Morral in this league
The Saints looked like crap vs Chiefs... 🤷♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
preach
As a Saints fant from french Guyana this game not representing what could be the Rattler's future.
Its unfair to say he can't succeed
This team is decimed on both side of the ball
Purdy was a 7th round pick and rookie and turned out to be excellent. There is no way to know unless they are actually playing for a few games. Also no QB would work here, there's hardly anyone left on the Saints offensive lineup to make plays.
We played the Broncos during the pandemic when they had to start a WR at QB because all four QBs had Covid. Thursday night was a bad situation on par with that night. No Taysom, Olave, Shaheed, Ruiz, Werner….So yea…OF COURSE Rattler wasn’t ready for that.
I’ve been saying this for years. They need to do something to get live reps for young QBs or veterans that have lost their mojo. Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones etc should be playing in the CFL or the UFL, not sitting on a bench. Think of what Warner did in NFL Europe
That may be true but I don’t think it’s fair to down talk rattler. He has no weapons or oline. I don’t think anybody can succeed at QB in this situation
Very mediocre college player. You could see that in OK. I'm surprised he got drafted to be honest.
@shep68 - I am with you on that. He's a semi-good high school player, but he is not NFL QB material, in my opinion.
@@greenbeagle13 explain how with this team?
I think it's unfair to assume that Rattler was the backup. When Carr went down Jake Haener went in. And I'd still assume that Taysom Hill was the backup QB over both of them
The college level DEFINITELY does not get these kids ready for professional football in the area of quarterback.
I don't disagree with anything Rich said . . . but the real problem is that there just aren't enough capable QB's for every team to have TWO. Some teams don't even have ONE.
please also remember to add their entire interior OL - LG, C, RG are all out.
That really hurt
Nope. No leniency, because Bo Nix gets none. Spencer is trash. 😊
The Saints need to rebuild completely. They need to start trading some guys and getting some fresh people in the building.
Let's just overlook the beating they took from Tampa the week before in an at-home division game, or that it's been 2 weeks in a row where more than 200 yards in the run game were given up.
The Saints are devastated by injury and Rich wants to bring in ex-NFL QBs to come up with a system to get young QBs more ready. How about lead that up to the actual teams? If a team has a young rookie QB #2 on the depth chart that's their decision. How is some committee going to fix that?
Why do so many of these 'analysts' let spending as much time as they have covering the game trick themselves into thinking they know how to fix it?
Yeah bc Rich Eisen is an expert
On these things. He’s wrong more than right
I think this is the inherent problem of not having a true minor league system that runs pro style systems. College football only acknowledges the NFL in so far as recruiting to say, "I can get you looked at by pro scouts," but at the end of the day, the schools don't care about prepping for the NFL. Then some players aren't ready when they finally get up there.
And I know part of it is because the owners and fans get impatient with these players, but there has to be a way of setting these guys up for success more easily.
Over 40% of the saints starters new out. There's a public tryout tomorrow for the saints at all positions. Allen, mickey, and Gayle will be there too
Taysom Hill should have been the Saints' starting QB since Brees retired.
Rich, put the violin away, it's football and Rattler is 24 years old, spent 4 year in collage preparing and is paid over a million dollars a year to play professional football. An 18 year old private in the US army is paid $24k a year. Don't want to hear the "kids not ready", the kid is a man and he better get ready because he's being paid a ton of money to do what he's doing.
Yep. No leniency, because Bo Nix gets none. Spencer is trash. 😊
100% correct. Thank you for your service. Risk a bullet for 24K or risk a sack for 795K. NFL is entertainment, not national security. The big problem is, people don't buy tickets to national security. Reality sucks.
OK Boomers
Young / rookie QBs being “ready” to play in the NFL? I watched this game not knowing who Bo Nix was or the Saints rookie playing. Not impressed by either. Some NFL talking head recently said he would take a Bo Nix over a Brock Purdy anytime, which after watching his play and passing game … I just say WTF are you talking about? I guess Purdy is truly exceptional as a rookie / young QB who stepped on the field and has been a big time winner ever since.
Spencer rattler wasn't overlooked in the draft. Fact is he was probably overvalued & should be sitting for years. Rich is dead right that saints are culpable for not securing a back up.
I wouldn't put any weight into anything that happened in first 2 weeks because none of the good teams play their starters in preseason yet all the bad teams do so you're gonna have a few head scratches.
He's looked pretty athletic behind a Swiss cheese line. And he definitely has the arm strength to make all the throws. Needs a real coach.
There are no REASONABLE Saints fans that think Rattler is anything more than a backup QB. He was a preseason star. He's the Saints version of AOC on the Raiders
Maybe they should have a draft in the middle of the season, could be exciting 🤷♂️
Quarterback development is a problem the NFL does not have a good answer to.
You can't lose almost every starter on your offense (14 players after two games?) and expect a team to simply plug in a veteran QB and everything will be just fine. Sean Payton couldn't do anything with that. Of course, the Saints want to be tough and say it's not injuries, but it is. It's just bad luck all around. That's happens to all teams eventually. Quit picking players apart when the total outweighs the sum. Lately, it feels like no one has a memory of other teams/years that were decimated by injuries. I remember the Saints losing both starting corners in the 90s and they couldn't get past that. 14 players? Get real.
The only thing the Saints can do this season is find out if Rattler can play
Dennis wanted to say next reporter to ask why the team quit on me is fired.
If you got a rookie qb who you hope doesn’t play…what are we doing here.
I watched the game dudes were dropping balls that them in the hands and chest. like for FFS what is he supposed to do at that point.
I wanted Allen out 2 years ago, HURRY UP. GM too.
Rattlers ceiling is a backup or movie villain at very best
They put their shortstop on the mound for the ninth inning. But in Football the coach is giving up at the start of the game and we have to watch it for 3 hours.
Rich says pay everyone. but now theres no money for seasoned backup QB's.
I know it was a tough spot to come in to an play well but I honestly have no idea what people are seeing in rattler.
There are plenty of good quarterbacks out there - they just won't let them play.
If the Saints really wanted to protect Rattler, they would have ran the ball more. You have to establish the run ! Especially your two top receivers are out.
Bo isn’t ready either. He threw 164 yards and no TDs, against a bad team. Maybe they’ll both be ok we’ll see tho
You mean like the Steelers did back in 2004? That turned out okay. Probably wouldn't happen again though. Yes he was supposed to be 3rd string which makes it even more special.
Your WRONG Rich! I think Rattler is ready to start, the rest of the team isn't ready to start.
Hey, you either got it or you don't. Sink or swim. The 3rd stringer Jake Haener stepped in and marched down the field for a tuddy, so they can't be that bad.
Garbage time doesn't count.
@@youn1versoul that whole game was garbage time
Gotta feel for the kid he has no business playing yet but carr is hurt so they have no other choice😂
Haener who is literally QB2.
id give rattler at least the next two games before reaching on some sort of assessment. his entire interior o line is gone and the best wr on their team has been bub means with olave and shaheed out. caleb was awful for the first 4 games and all rookies normally have growing pains so a guy in a situation like rattler should at least be given some time before some sort of final assessment.
All teams are hurt !!!
Not just the Saints
Teams like the Dolphins and Saints made choices. As TJ pointed out, look at the Steelers.
I would say you don't have to look all the way to Pitt, look at the team across the field from the Saints. Look at Denver. Denver kept 3 QBs on it's roster coming into the season. That means they used a rooster spot that might have been used somewhere else. God forbid Nix goes down, Denver has 2 veteran back ups to answer the bell.
The system doesnt need to be changed. Teams like Mia & NO gambled. And they lost.
Bo Nix didn't play that well either....but a running game and an O-Line does wonders for you
Nope. No leniency, because Bo Nix gets none. Spencer is trash. 😊
I’m a long time Sooner fan, so I’ve watched Rattler many, many games. He’s a poor man’s Patrick Mahomes, without the escapability and without the key completions at critical moments. His career is following exactly how I thought it would. Due to his live arm, I knew he’d make a roster. Next, I knew he’d get an opportunity due to injury at some point, and then I knew he’d fail. The only question is how long will he last in the league? I suspect he has 3-4 years tops, exactly like Landry Jones in Pittsburgh.
Cmon rich, look at the Saints Injury report a bit longer. You have seen more football than I have to know that offensive linemen are more important than wide receivers. I know you can do better.
Nope. No leniency, because Bo Nix gets none. Spencer is trash. 😊
@@watchmesquatch no hate for Bo, except the one throw where he somehow missed 2 wide open receivers in the same play
He might not be ready to play for a piss poor saints team that most QBs would struggle in
Also rich is full of it saying a competent QB would overcome these issues then saying Rodgers’s can’t do it on his own
Here we go, ‘professional’ coaches making ‘trial and error’ decisions.
Anybody can do that!!!
Completely ignoring how little protection he had, or how few weapons he had to throw to. Derek Carr would have looked the same. Saints just aren't healthy. Mahomes would have had a nightmare in that situation.
Eisen doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. Rattler didn’t do bad statistically he had a better game than Bo Nix he’s not saying anything about Nix not being ready to be a professional QB in the NFL.
Turns out the Saints were nothing more than a chocolate dipped soft serve cone. Once you get through the chocolate every thing is nothing more than vanilla blandness. First two weeks with 1st string over 40 points per game. Once the injuries started occurring, things went down hill.
There's a reason that Rattler was replaced at QB in Oklahoma.
Everything you said Rich was spot on but I don't think it really applies to Rattler cuz it was his 2nd start. If it was his 1st career start then I'm with you but he wasn't terrible last week so the excuse for him is a bit different. But for me all this goes back to why did organizations stop carrying 3-quarterbacks? You have the starter, the young guy in waiting &the the veteran to teach the youngster &step in if QB-#1 goes down. NFL could even make a cap-exception if they had to but teams need to just cut the last guy &special teams &sign a QB
Staink 🦨 fans said they were going to the Superbowl at home, after the Dallas game... Now, they're busting out their paper bags again... It's a cold cold world... 💀😭😭 GO BUCS 🚩🏴☠️🚩
