I never thought I'd live long enough to consider GTA4 old, yet here we are.
I just beat the game for the first time about a month ago
we out here
GTA 5 is 9 years old yet I could swear it came out two years ago, and GTA IV like 5.
@@WhiteSpaceSESH on pc right, because on console you cant finish the last mission because you have spam A/X and the tick rate is so much higher that it's physically impossible to press the button fast enough to pass
How long did you think you’d live?
The fact that it's going to be 15 years since GTA 4 has released is so fucking surreal.
In 2008, 15 years ago would've been 1993.
Jesus… We’re getting old boys.
Stop it. You're making me feel old.
ok
Wtf
I’m born is 2007 and that’s making me feel old
Pls stop it
Congratulations, you can do basic math
17:36 actually that's not true, Niko may be a very sympathetic character, which makes it really easy to forget that he's a traumatized war veteran with untreated PTSD which makes him capable of snapping at random, just listen to the stuff he yells during gun fights and you can tell he's lost his mind, for example when he yells at the top of his lungs "I'LL RIP YOUR HEART OUT!" or "PUSH ME! PUSH ME!"
Oh yeah I forgot he had ptsd
damn…
Also he was a teenager during the war
or my personal favorite, I’ll cut off your fAcking head!” so much soul and pain and his war cries.
Also “HUH?!? DID THAT HURT?!”
The Romanian play style is very, extremely, 100% and totally viable. You just have to be Romanian yourself to be able to properly do it.
Brother, we shall steal his video
Another Romanian brother I see. There is a big chance to be caught in a situation like this. Everyone has a bat as a melee weapon.
@@george0377 Bata romaneasca ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I need the pită, Roman
Sadly, I am an American, therefore, I will never be able to beat GTA IV the Romanian way.
Funny how GTA4 was shit on by the community back then because it didnt have a huge map and many different vehicles like San Andreas.. I was in love with this game. Every gun fight, chase scene felt real and full of tension, the missions were mostly down to earth too, the physics mechanics of the game was never seen in a GTA game before and after. The city was truly alive and interesting to explore. I would even risk to say that it is my favorite GTA game, although i played a shitton of hours with both SA and V.
the fact that he is a serb and am a bosnian i kinda feel angry and sad for him
GTA4 is imo the best GTA, the story, the physics, just superior even compared to GTA5. The car-damage models alone are so amazing.
@@juggernut1418That is a rather interesting sentiment.
And with a little bit of pride I can say I already defended it against them heathens back then, bemoaning a silly and unncessary body stat feature nobody needed. Best GTA ever made and I am afraid that it will keep that title in my books for many years to come.
The cars were good and the map was big enough, but there was not so much new in the map compared SA or Vice City stories where you could have a crime empire. It felt kinda like the map in Mafia 2, where it is a big nice looking site, but barely anything to do there. Except mundane things like bowling, comedy clubs and shooting pigeons.
Of course you can make your own fun and for that IV is great and online was fun back in the day.
It went from fun and wacky in the earlier games to a more dark, serious and story-focused game. I think a lot of people didn't like trading gameplay for story, simple as that. GTA IV is still a good game.
My only memory of this game was of watching my father fly a helicopter to the roofs and using a sniper and killing random people on the ground. I watch mesmerized at the screen, and said to myself, “he’s just like me fr”
Last part got me dying 💀💀💀
"Fr fr😭💯" stupid shit
No cap on god

Most of the weird physics you witnessed was due to the unlocked framerate
I played through this on ps3 twice and never encountered *any* issues. I played through both of the spin off games too, no problems.
They include the *full* soundtrack too. Everybody needs to stop wasting their money on digital downloads and grab an old disc out of the bargain basket 👍
@@daveyjones18 I fully agree but I cannot play only GTA 4 until the end of time
The reason why fighting is so good in GTA 4 is because Bas rutten former UFC heavyweight champion and king of pancrase did the mocap, he also did the mocap for all the car jackings.
plus Bas insisted on hitting pads during the mocap to give the combat much more realism and weight opposed to just shadowboxing
It’s much more appreciated knowing he Is also in a show in-game and there is a large promotion for it at near star junction
What?? I never knew that man, that's bad ass. Although Bas would probably crush your liver to a fine pulp if you didn't give him your car lol
This is arrested development level of writing. So many jokes per minute, it's absolutely incredible.
seems like a maxor/jimothy style incorrect summary / hypercut so makes sense (but with less painstaking editing)

The Lazlo show and the advertisements assaulted my young ears in a way that taught me everything about adults that my parents wouldn’t.
This is hands down my all time favorite video game, and not just because of the potent nostalgia. The game is engineered in a way that has yet to be replicated.
GTA 4 was my first big single player game after growing up kinda sheltered. I was so absolutely gobsmacked by it. I missed multiple days of college lectures just sitting in my room driving around Hove Beach, drinking in the world, breathing it like air, watching the details and the reactions. All the while thinking, "My god, how does a game like this exist?!"
Unless something really groundbreaking shows up, no video game will ever hold me spellbound like that as long as I live.
5:55 to be entirely fair, a paramedics job it essentially *is* putting you in the hospital. I’ve never heard of an ambulance dropping someone off at their buddies place or something.
Yeah, though in most western countries now, our medical sectors seem to think it's their job to keep us in hospital as long as possible.
I still love the way the shooting feels in this game. The guns are loud, muzzle flashes are bright, and every bullet you fired seemed like it made a real impact. Combine that with the amazing ragdoll system they had and it made the combat feels so gritty and brutal.
Oh yeah nothing better than going to the hospital and trying to block off the entrance with a car and then blasting the patients on their hospital beds 😭
I've always preferred 5 but I can't deny that nothing tops 4's gunplay. The guns were satisfying to use, and combined with the AI and health system, it's definitely the most balanced GTA game in my opinion.
@@Walker-ow7vj Man I've done some unspeakable things in those hospital halls
I feel the same way! After playing GTAV since launch, I went back to GTAIV and after my first gunfight I was so shocked how more real the guns felt. Even just the pistol felt so brutal.
@@Walker-ow7vj we all have the same experiences i see
Hype, GTA IV Is just a Martin Scorsese movie made as a video game. 10/10 story and still amazing and fun gameplay to this day. Also, lets not forget probably the greatest expansion packs for a game ever made.
Eh sorta, main inspirations were the movies Brat and Brat 2, which were essentially Russian takes on Taxi Driver. So ye, Scorsese inspired certainly, but not Scorsese per se

GTA IV also has the most iconic soundtrack. Dark, sinister and giving chills down the spine. By far the best GTA game.
San Andreas is superior
Serbian Connection slaps
7:49 This truly is the most dark and realistic entry in the franchise bruh
I can honestly say gta 4 is better than 5 without being blinded by nostalgia
8:24 this is why I belive the magician has real power. when he gets distracted his focus shifts so his power shifts with it
9:22 battlefield helicopter controls: finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!
Fuck flying choppers in bf4, I still have ptsd
1:18 that caught me off guard 💀💀💀
Romanian playthrough yeah good name not mad at all
**Internal screaming but in Romanian**
2008 had suspiciously detailed videogames, that's what im always telling
Love the video!!! The way Niko shouts during gunfights; he sounds so incredibly scarred and emotional. It's insane how some people gloss over these details. They really make his character unique in the franchise.
12:10 alright, for some reason, this shit was WAY funnier than it should have been
Best GTA without question. Best gunplay, best driving, best story, everything about it is perfect
"This is not how cars work" Maybe it's not 100% realistic, but it's so much better than any other GTA car physics. Best game car physics to utilize with a keyboard of it's time, and still holds up so good only dedicated racing/simulation games might have better ones.
Car physics were a dealbreaker with GTA 5 for me, I just can't drive in that game, every car feels mostly the same and grips WAAAYYY too much, feels like driving on traintracks, even GTA SA did it better than 5
GTA 4's driving physics aren't anywhere near realistic.
@@Skrenja It's the best one among GTA games. And it's the only one where car mass can actually be felt
@@Skrenja Try to corner a street at 80 Kmph and see the traction that a car gets.
I know GTA 4 is not even remotely a realistic simulation of car physics, but atleast it tries. GTA V makes it too arcady. Momentum has a meaning.
Idk, 4's car physics make some missions quite a chore, through at least the npcs in races are just as bad as you are, racing end up being much easier than regular drives because the npcs just crash in their first curve lol
@@marrvynswillames4975 Car driving parts are good. Bikes tho......... Those are real pain. And my "allergy" to them doesn't help, I hate bikes so much

Me: *nodding in approval at the mention of the Jazz station*
14:49 has to be my favorite cutscene of this game, Niko's obsession and anger was perfectly portrayed by Michael Hollick
I just love this game. Yes, it's probably because of nostalgia, as it is the first GTA game I had, but somehow the whole story really grabbed my attention. I'm really obsessed with the 2000s and this game perfectly conveys the feel in my opinion. There's simply something in the game that gave me such a strong emotional connection to it that I cannot even describe it. I just love it, but it's like a sad kind of love, or idk, it's really hard to explain it. For some reason I feel like I'm so intertwined with certain characters in the game, even tho they are fictional (I tend to do this a lot for some reason, when a book or maybe a movie, in this case, a game, has a good story that really grabs me I really get sad that the characters aren't real and stuff) so yea maybe it is because of my weirdness, but this game will always have a special place in my heart.
Never in the many times I’ve played this game I realized that Packie had so much in common with the IRA
Still one of my favourite games ever. Is so gritty and cruel. In one mission you’re even sent to kill another gangster. And you get to choose if you kill him or spare his life. I miss being 13 and having endless time to fuck around in this game, the world is amazing with all those sky scrappers and amazing lights. Actually difficult shootouts and chases. It was a blast.
Why is it funny to me that old games have more realistic details compare to modern games?
Riddiculus What!? You stuck in THE seventees!?
As someone who is into sim driving I believe GTA 4 has the best vehicle handling and physics out of any GTA game.
fr easily the most realistic!

I've linked your video and I wanna say that video has been nothing but a great help, it's a solid video and it's help me a lot break the game down, as well as I have to suggest improvements in parts of the games Ui(inventory menu etc) it would be a huge help if yourself or anyone else could help, thank you again
9:56 dude mine too it makes any moment either feel like playing mafia and just sounds great, beautiful songs
As a new yorker gta 4 feels amazing. Everyone is miserable even the happy people
The best part of this game is breaking the janky euphoria physics by ramming the car swings and turning it into a rocket ship.
15:33 I never played GTA 4 and i love GTA san andreas , CJ being my favorite protagonist . I do agree that Niko bellic is really solid .
I appreciate the microphone for the gameplay segments sounding like it came from 2008 with the game.
16:05
Don't forget about Victor Vance from Vice City Stories.
Oh yeah
It might be a building blocks for niko
15:12 New York residents perfectly explained
GTA IV is described as one thing and one thing only... a masterpiece.
Man the memories when hearing the soundtrack alone threw me back.. Very underrated game with a vibe like no other
The funniest fact about this game is that at the time it got released (2008) PCs were shitty, with graphic cards having 1 GB VRAM. No PC could handle this game
13:49 you do that!? It has been over a decade and this is the first I’m hearing it
Let's not forget how GTA 4 also upholds the late 2000s video game tradition of... the Piss Filter.
Starting to realize why people think 4 is so much better than 5, but they are both great.
I got the game and played through it last year.
I remember having to speed dial the cheat codes into Niko's phone number while being fired upon by the LCPD.
The amount of times ive heard "cheesy vagina!" In this game is insane
I still find it hilarious that in this universe New York is the one that has a hard on for gun control while California has gun shops around every other corner
4:33
is that the fucking yakuza 0 fight theme?
edit: NO WAIT THATS FUCKING FUNK GOES ON FROM KIWAMI ONE
the funny thing about the cars in this game, this is actually realistic to how cars function in real life as many other games take an easy way out approach
Was playing Lost and Damned. Hailed a taxi. Taxi fuckin swerves into the curb and almost hit a pedestrian. I get into taxi. Tell him to take me a few streets away, he steps on the gas and speeds past a police cruiser. Then after getting in a traffic jam. The taxi takes a dirt side road down an alley and throws me out at the end of it. 10/10 would ride again
Go to strip club with biker pals. Get bored and try to take a picture of a stripper. Start a fight with the bouncers. Police arive and a shoot out begins. All three of my pals get shot. I kill most the cops, get outside to my bike and get shot by a sniper in a helicopter.
Jesus fuck I forgot Patrick literally sources car bombs 💀
3:42 British people 🍵
The taxi driver will always fight you if you punch his car
Just found an email when I ordered this game on disc and sent my mom to get it for me in "the city" as I was very sick. That was 14 years ago, dude... The Rockstar Launcher app can suck a chode though.
You did an amazing job in terms of narrating ! Your sentences are really crisp and clear, I can almost taste it. Wonderful take on my favourite sandbox ever.
10:22 Yes self defense, me and my friend do this in the multiplayer, we go to the strip club and say *Remember, no bitches* and defend ourselves
One of the best games. It's ragdoll and driving physics are amazing. Story is serious and compelling. I love this game with all my heart that is why I downloaded it again. Downgraded to 1.0.7 and installed wrappers to fight stuttering. Just perfection.
Edit: I hated Rockstar launcher so much that I pirated the game this time. I used to have the CD version years ago but I wont bother with Steam. F them.
I remember I used to fly super high and jump out a helicopter and try land in a pool or ocean
I was always amazed how well, for a western made media, GTA 4 managed to portray complex mentality and relations between the Slavic. I am really thankful to Rockstar for not turning this game into another over the top cliche action game, but a well written masterpiece I'd be happy to put alongside movies like "Brat", "Psy" or even "The Sopranos" series.
4:45 the light bringer
My only memory of this game was of watching my father fly a helicopter to the roofs and using a sniper and killing random people on the ground. I watch mesmerized at the screen, and said to myself, “he’s just like me fr”
Mind if i ask where he is now?
2:11 is that fucking gru?
What perfect timing, that you release this video, right before the game gets a major update, to remove all the remaining Kanye West songs.
12:18: Based on how you played this mission, you do not understand how to play GTA 4 at all. You wait for the lawyer to get up while he continues talking. You pull up your revolver and aim at him, which triggers some optional dialogue. He backs upto the window, which is when you shoot him. Then you jump out the window to your car waiting outside.
Most of the people playing GTA 4 post 5, don’t realize how accessible the world here really is, and the different ways you can complete every mission. Fun fact: this lawyer is based on the real life lawyer who has tried to sue Rockstar multiple times in the past. All of his lines in this mission is stuff the real guy has used himself.
Whose the fun police over here
Based on how you played this mission, you also do not understand how to play this open world game
as a romanian, i can confirm this is exactly what i do when i need money. i also like playing gta 4 occasionally, my stolen windows seven HP computer can't really run gta 5
Bloody hell, this fella just went and right insulted me, what a right prat
4:39 is that The Nostalgia Critic? I had no idea he was on such a downward spiral!.
I commented before he could finish the bit.
My biggest flex is that I passed 30 missions in that game for a WHOLE WEEK
I completed the two dlcs for this game when I was younger but I didn’t play the actual game until 2018, by far my favourite, was going through a pretty rough time when I played this and it was a great distraction but I really got into the game, crazy how it’s 15 odd years old now
16:03 Bu- but Trevor was abused by his mom and... and he really cares about loyalty and ehmmm... he's actually *_deeP_* and the best character in the franchise.
For real tho, this game is my baby. It isn't even my favourite game anymore but it will always have a little place of rememberance in my heart, like my first girlfriend. The level of detail blew me away when I was a teenager and I remember that I used to complete at least once a year. Hell, one of the reasons I crossed the Atlantic on a trip to NY was to see the real Liberty City lol
The thing about ludonarrative disonance is the game never forces you to bunker up at the hospital and slaughter half of Liberty City's finest nor run over that old lady. You can complete the whole game without hurting *anybody* that isn't either some sort of criminal or a cop trying to kill you. And that lawyer. He's the most inocent man you're cannonically forced to eliminate. In fact I'm able to complete the game with the "stolen cars" stat staying at 0 since the cars that you stole as part of the story do not count.
It's a shame that V's stupidity clearly sold way more than IV's sobriety so VI will probably lean more on the "lol so random so crazy" stuff of Los Santos instead of the grounded style of Liberty City.
I hope you're proud. It's 2022 and injustice bought GTA 4 AGAIN because of this video. It's lost it's charm now that it's not "cutting edge" but there are things it does better than 5.
You may be hahaah funny Sseth clone but your upload schedule is much more real and punctual if it even exists , i really appreciate that and i loved the video

I went to war with the rockstar launcher just so I could play GTA 4 again and relive my childhood
This is actually just a nyc documentary
Great vid. The hand to hand combat feels so weighty and satisfying partially because Bas Rutten did the mocap for it. He said in an interview: "So what happened with the motion capture is that normally you just hit the air right and they capture that... But I told them guys... what you need to do is let me hit something because I'm telling you if you see that connect with something, you see the power coming back... We bought some focus mitts, some thai pads. So my friend was holding it up... and we started hitting and actually connecting against things. They freaked out man. The difference if you see, it's so cool."
