I don’t know why, but this version of the theme makes me feel like a kid/teen again. While I unfortunately didn’t play this game, it’s still nostalgic to me.
As if a giant truck wrecking the city was too subtle, let's give it saw blades and spikes, and rockets so it can run along the walls! All this just to catch a damn hedgehog.
Don't know if anybody else caught it, but this is a remix of the City Escape version from SA2 multiplayer downhill snowboard race level. not the regular level but the snowboard one only
I haven't heard this version in 7 years. Last time I listened was back in 6th grade. Our teacher let us write down what songs we wanted to play on a sticky note and if you were Lucky enough you could get your song before class ends. Unfortunately that luck became unlucky for me. I was known as the Sonic fangirl at the time so it didn't help at all. Only 25 seconds in and all the kids in my class unanimously laughed at it because they knew who suggested it. I just wanted it to end , the teacher told them to not be disrespectful but the damage was already done. Even though I still love this series it pains me to listen to this track. This is just one of many bad memories of my time as an early Sonic fan. Thanks to anyone who read my vent.
Don't worry, keep loving what you love. Something like that happened to me. The teacher let us play what we wanted. So i put the "we gotta power" opening of DBZ and a lot of people of my class started saying that this op sucks and they even changed the music before it ended.
Y'know, this take on Escape From The City has been growing on me alot lately. I'm an especially big fan of how SA2's version of It Doesn't Matter is incorporated into the medley, as well as the additional vocal portion before the final chorus!
This is my favorite Sonic song of all time! What a masterpiece of a remix, and a song in general. I love that they added the "It Doesn't Matter" melody into this, it fits so well. The new section is great too, it adds a lot of character that the original didn't have. EDIT: Mind you, I haven't played Generations yet, so this song will probably leave an even bigger impact upon hearing it in the level.

I remember when I played this game in my living room- my younger sister (Who had watched me play sonic adventure 2 back when we were kids) and I heard this song and we immediately started singing along to the lyrics. The Sonic series will always have a special place in my heart.
I still don't understand to this day why the Classic version is more popular. Like, it gets very tiring the first time around and then it just gets kinda annoying. This one feels like a love letter, maybe even an improvement, on the original.
I'm listening to this in a playlist while doing a thing, the Classic one played further up. Playing the Classic version just makes me feel so... I guess anger? It feels so noisy, and the background covers up the vocals. I rather have a pure rock version or a pure synth version, or something, instead of whatever Classic is. Which I don't understand since I've like other songs that come in various versions over the years, while approving of the various differences (like the OG Pokemon Theme and how many times that's been done). Like, give me a soft ballad or kpop version before Classic version. The original is still my favorite version. But I physically felt myself be lifted when this Modern version came on compared to mentally shutting down with the other one.
Something about the Classic version just feels more full and gets me pumped. I'm usually a loyalist to the original version if it's rock, but something about that new climax/breakdown in the Classic feels like it's been steadily built up to and puts a rush through me - makes me run until like I'm flying! In comparison, the Modern version feels like a chill 2000s rock song I'd listen to on the radio while driving - even though objectively there's a lot going on.

Anybody who wonders what the lyrics are after the It Doesn’t Matter part are “Surprises are hiding out in front of me! Uncover the secrets and then we will soon be free!”
Notice how the first 18 seconds of the song has been entirely remixed from the original SA2 version Generations version sounds like Sonic's average morning routine. Get up and move around at the speed of sound while checking up on his friends. SA2 version sounds more like Sonic is actually running from the cops and having a blast doing so. Something akin to that of Subway Surfers
You can't take your mind away, when you listen to this song because it gives you the tingly sensation and strong memories of your own past, present and for the future time.

I don’t know why, but this version of the theme makes me feel like a kid/teen again. While I unfortunately didn’t play this game, it’s still nostalgic to me.
Love this stage xD
Crazy ass truck with spikes!
As if a giant truck wrecking the city was too subtle, let's give it saw blades and spikes, and rockets so it can run along the walls! All this just to catch a damn hedgehog.
Watch out for that giant black gun truck with saw blades

It Doesn't Matter at 2:19, that really hit me with the feels.

Time sure goes by quickly.

MAN THE BASS OF THIS SONG IS SIMPLY SENSATIONAL
This game came for nostalgia, and now it’s nostalgia itself. time flies 🥲
Don't know if anybody else caught it, but this is a remix of the City Escape version from SA2 multiplayer downhill snowboard race level. not the regular level but the snowboard one only
No, I think crush 40 came and sang the song again but with some diff lines
Donald Trumpling no I meant the guitar riffs and stuff especially at the beginning
Wait really?! I wanna find out!
Um can someone send a link to the SA2 multiplayer music?
EJPear Gaming sorry I might have been mistaken but maybe it’s a bit similar

it CANNOT stress how much of an absolute BANGER of a song this is and the game itself. i must play this again before i die.
Hot take. But I prefer this remix over the original. I’m not dissing on the OG track; it’s still amazing.

Well, i for one thought it was really sweet. Being a Sonic fan is never easy, keep on keeping on!
Don't worry, keep loving what you love. Something like that happened to me. The teacher let us play what we wanted. So i put the "we gotta power" opening of DBZ and a lot of people of my class started saying that this op sucks and they even changed the music before it ended.
@Niggahero True
Your Pfp explains it all.
@@okjeffy6581Ok, OK.
I'm guessing I'm in the minority when I say I like this more than classic, but less than the original.
I like this more than classic but less than the original too
I agree. I used to play the game all the time on the original so I'm used to the original and like it the most.

I agree the original is better. But I like the fact it’s the same band. I could be wrong, let me know if I’m wrong
This is exactly what I feel wtf

This was one of my favorite levels to replay! This game was a Sonic fans' dream

I don't think so, maybe it's because i used to the original but I still think think the original version it's better.
I never get tired of the original. I play the og city escape every once in a while because I love this song
I love both versions equally! Unique to themselves =)
In comparison, the Modern version feels like a chill 2000s rock song I'd listen to on the radio while driving - even though objectively there's a lot going on.

this version of city escape is a love letter to the adventure games, you can even hear the ´´it doesnt matter ´´ melody at the end

I remember listening to this song back in primary school.

Anybody who wonders what the lyrics are after the It Doesn’t Matter part are
“Surprises are hiding out in front of me!
Uncover the secrets and then we will soon be free!”
I keep replaying it because it sound so good
Notice how the first 18 seconds of the song has been entirely remixed from the original SA2 version
Generations version sounds like Sonic's average morning routine. Get up and move around at the speed of sound while checking up on his friends.
SA2 version sounds more like Sonic is actually running from the cops and having a blast doing so. Something akin to that of Subway Surfers
Sonic Adventure 2 version: ruclips.net/video/5WcyVvWZJU4/видео.html
No, Classic is Sonics sleepy morning routine.
Original is Sonic having much fun
You sir are BRILLIANT!!!!! This was my favorite part of the game as this song was part of one of my favorite sonic games.
“Follow me, set me free, trust me and we will escape from the city, I’ll make it through, follow me”
You know what my favorite part of this is? They threw in some of Sonic's theme from SA2 at 2:18.
You can't take your mind away, when you listen to this song because it gives you the tingly sensation and strong memories of your own past, present and for the future time.
I think this is one of those games that, regardless of when you started playing Sonic, it will still hit you with nostalgia. Wether in the classic era, adventure era or boost era, this game still hits your nostalgia.
Is the adventure era the best maybe compared to constantly having the boost era
I played the original.
2:18 one of the best guitar solos ever
One of the very few songs I can remember all the lyrics to after not hearing it for YEARS
The new verse just makes this song sound 10x better than it already was
Love how they added the multiplayer battle music at the very beginning.

I know they won't but it would really, _really_ nice and a perfect callback if in Sonic x Shadow Generations, you start off this level hearing this:
*_"Attention all units: suspect seen heading south. Block all major roads and capture the suspect."_*
Now this is an EPIC theme! :)
Imagine the sonic movie sequel, starting with this theme
That would be epic
"Yo Eggman! Had a fun time with the mushrooms did you?"
With the confirmation of G.U.N and all the fanservice weve seen so far, that is very well a possibility
That has to happen
I knew Sonic from his classic era games, but my first hands-on experience with the blue hedgehog was with Adventure 2 (battle), so this song and it's message is very special to me as a Sonic fan.
The truck in Generations did have giant buzz saws and rocket boosters, and also unlike the original truck, it also broke down a few houses.
My family isn't geek at all so I didn't know much about Sonic before I got Generations. I think there's no better game to begin with when you're late when it comes to Sonic games. All the main music, characters, stages and everything are there and you can even play the first Sonic game in case you didn't !
