BlackKidAJ kid cudi had a chill vibe to it the beat was crazy and Carti s verse was actually catchy. there’s no vibe or substance in this song. he’s repeating himself over n over. talking abt street shit over the Nintendo switch theme music.
Really like that you have an open mind when listening to his music Jon. A way more refreshing perspective. This song definitely grew on me and is super catchy. Not the best he’s ever made but it’s solid. I suggest you listen to self titled soon as his album is supposed to come out Monday !
jeffery High well we can say that so far, but this song sounds like it could be on Die Lit tbh. Too much baby voice tbh but still got hope cause that Drake ft Carti song is fire!!!
Sir Jon, there is one defining reason why you are the best reaction channel on RUclips. You are honest and give your raw opinions. While every other channel just says one or two things about the song that don’t really mean anything, you really break down the music and give insightful comments. You are truly knowledgable and know what you’re talking about, and it’s evident. You are a legitimate critic and a music-lover overall. We appreciate you, and please never stop what you are doing. P.S. finish the Travis discography with Owl Pharaoh! And some unreleased Travis with The Hooch, Houdini ft Carti, RaRa ft Uzi, and more that you can probably fit into one video. And Jack Harlow’s WHATS POPPIN. Absolute banger you’d love it.
Please React to the album "Friend or Foux" by Lancey Foux, he’s a young British artist that has worked with Clairo, Chip, Skepta just to name a few. The production is amazing and I know you’ll appreciate more than most reactors.
carti in a sense is like ambient music, we are not listening to him for lyrics, composure, flow etc. we listen to him to set a mood, and to makes us feel an emotion, and he is very successful at that, and i think that’s why his music really gravitates to those who aren’t listening for how technical he is but instead the feel, and the psychedelic production that comes with it.
I agree with everything you said except a lot of people listen to him for his flow. His flow is what blends so creatively and smoothly with the melody of godtier Pi’erre beats, it’s what allows for the creation of the angelic vibes his songs give off
Cartis music since die lit has been very minimalistic and psychedelic. If u listen to his new shit when under the influence, all the ad lib layers and synth layers just make sense and go together so well. To me carti sounds like how my thoughts are when tripping. Im not saying u need to be high or have done psychedelics to appreciate his music. But this is one of few reasons why cartis music is so good and makes sense to me.
I see why people think carti is trash but personally think he is more of an artist than a rapper. He is so unique and creative, that is what sets him apart and what will probably make him legendary a few years down the line.
I feel like it’s just how chill and laid back he is and how he seems like a good person and actually puts a lot of effort into his songs that just makes me like his songs no matter what
Carti is creating a sub genre of rap. It’s key characteristics are hypnotic beats, repetitive hook, delivery is fast and almost frantic...If I had to label it it would be called “psychosis rap”
Hopefully, this album is great. If I'm being honest, I expected more from Carti's "Meh" & I didn't really like it that much. As a Carti fan, I was really disappointed. Like, we should past this mumble rap phase from him because we got all of that from "Die Lit". Y'know? That's why I really wanted 16*29 to release when he's with Uzi, he's at the top of his game. Lil Uzi Vert himself has been releasing great music with his 2 albums this year, but what else do you expect from Uzi. Greatness. From out of all of the "Whole Lotta Red" leaks, the only songs that I actually enjoyed a lot was "Cancun", the 1st half of "Whoa" & "Whole Lotta Red" with Smooky & Maddmax. A lot of people be talking down on Carti & I be praising him but god man, "Meh" was just...meh. The songs from Playboi Carti that I honestly love is "Magnolia", "Location", "Left Right", "Wokeuplikethis*", "Break The Bank", "Throw It Up", "Big Bank", "Love Hurts", "Shoota", "Cancun", the 1st half of "Whoa", "Whole Lotta Red" with Smooky & Maddmax, "Choppa Won't Miss", "Long Time" & "Pull Up". These are songs where he's actually saying something. Not dissing him. Overall, that's just how I see it.
Your explanation is spot on. It doesn’t Make me say it’s trash but even though there isn’t much substance and a lot of repetition. It’s nice and has replay value in my opinion.
Pretty dope seeing Playboi Carti reactions from you Jon. Could we get a Barter 6 reaction? It was just the 5th anniversary of its release the other day. Young Thug makes equally unique trap music but I would argue on a higher level than anyone else in the game
I once heard a Japanese proverb I am quoting by memory " perfection is not something you can add more to,but something you can't strip off of anything" in other word simplicity
Idk what it is but Playboi Carti has this simple vibe to him. His music is like a trance, like an ear worm or ear candy of sorts and it’s extremely catchy. Simple but melodically satisfying. I think he knows that’s his strength and is what made him so popular. You don’t listen to Carti for the lyrics or the story, you’re there for the VIBE. Production/beat choice is important, along with how he uses those pockets on the beat. Despite him being sub par lyrically, it SOUNDS good when you separate the lyrics from the melodies he and the beat give off cohesively. Glad you can see what I see from what he brings to the table
Huge Weeknd fan here, to me when it comes to Carti I listen with the intent of being "brain-numb" and let the crazy ass noises he makes and the beat carry the song. I don't expect to be blown away or be gifted something intellectual, I "brain numbingly" ride with it
Carti is a genre of his own. There's a reason why he ha features with unique artists like Tyler the creator, Lana Del Rey, ASAP, Almeda. Every unique artist has a cult fanbase, he has them. It'll take time for people to catch up and accept that art
At first I could not decipher a single word in the song, but now I'm coming to terms with the fact that he isnt speaking English, he is speaking the language of the gods.
This what i have to say , listen to carti from 2015- to know and see just the insane evolution in his music , he has talent obviously, it’s for some people it’s not for some people personally i like it and if the whole new album isn’t all baby voice makes this song j that much better

Maybe I’m in the minority but I actually fw the song 😂🤷🏽♂️ it’s Carti we not expecting a lyrical masterpiece... we expecting a catchy lit song.
exactly... people wanted baby voice Carti and now hate on it
I like it, it has its purpose for pregame parties and stuff, but damn do I want “Fetti” and “Brokeboi” Carti back 😭

His music is trash. He gets carried by his fire beats and production. Carti as an artist is 🗑️
